Kicking Dust and Taking Names.

[Alan Nurmi]

Alan set out on Route 801. He wasn't going out there for traveling purposes or for catching Pokemon. No, he had another reason for going out there. To train, if he wanted to be ready for Wendy then he had to have his Pokemon stronger and he had to have his training method ready. No half-baked plans or going by pure chance. He had to make sure that he was ready to take on the gym leader. The time had come to kick the dust from his feet and take names.

The day was wonderful for battling against another trainer. The sun was shining, no clouds dared touch the peaceful blue skies, and the wind had thankfully started to blow. These were all the right conditions to train his Pokemon in. If there was a rain storm then that would also be a plus. His Pokemon were safe inside their pokeballs like they should be. He cared more for them than anyone else. So, what if he was a little cold-hearted? It suited him perfectly well and teamwork was just going to help him out until he was strong enough to not need it anymore. He worked with his Pokemon as a team.

[Amy]

"Alan, wait up!" Amy called after her traveling partner, Zorua and Igglybuff struggling to get out of her arms. "Sorry. I had to keep these two under control," she said, keeping the two of her Pokemon tightly under grips. "They just don't know how to behave sometimes," she continued with a sigh, not noticing that two other trainers were on their way over towards them.

"Um...excuse me," a little girl said, pulling on Amy's skirt.

"Are you trainers?" another girl, apparently the first one's twin.

"Technically, I guess, but yo-" Amy started before the girls interrupted her.

"Alright then! We challenge you both to a battle!" the first girl said eagerly.

"We want to use our new Pokemon!" the other girl added cheerfully.

[Alan Nurmi]

Alan smiled a little as he saw Amy join him finally. He was wondering when she would arrive. And soon after, he saw some of the first of the trainers that he wanted to fight. Well, not these two in particular. Two little girls were here. Were they twins? He couldn't really consider that right now. They had asked if he and Amy were trainers and before Amy could answer them, they declared that they wanted to battle with their new Pokemon. Alan smirked as he looked at the two Pokemon that the two girls sent out. A Plusle and a Minun if he wasn't mistaken.

"Get ready for battle, Dratini." he stated sternly as he called out the nameless, small dragon Pokemon. He eyed the blue and white serpent like creature for a moment. "Well, first a name. You're going to be Ryu." He turned to look at one of the opponents, settling on the one with the Plusle. And then he looked back towards, Amy. "I guess I'll take on the one with the Plusle."

He turned to face the girl with the Plusle out in front of her as Ryu did the same.

"Ok, let's start things off with Dragon Breath" he stated sternly. "Show that Plusle a thing or two."

"Tini!" Ryu cried out and then it unleashed some greenish flames straight towards the Plusle.

[Amy]

"I don't really feel right about fighting little kids though," Amy said, loosening her grip on Igglybuff long enough for the Pokemon to leap out of her arms and face off against the Minun in front of her.

"Iggly! Igglybuff!" the pink Pokemon said irritably, pointing her stick/microphone at Minun before leaping up into the air to use Faint Attack.

Thrown back by Ryu's attack, Plusle fell to the ground for a moment before leaping back to her feet cheerfully. "Plusle! Try...uh...Thunder Wave, I think?" Ella called to her Pokemon.

"Plus!" the Pokemon exclaimed cheerfully, her hands pulsing with electricity that she prepared to fire at Ryu. In her excitement, she released it too soon and watched in awe as it made a small fireworks display above her head.

“They wanted to do a Pokemon battle and so it’s fine” Alan replied.

He turned to look at the battle so far. That Plusle wasn’t going to be much of a threat. Alan knew that he might as well try and finish this one off for Dratini. His Pokemon seemed a bit concerned for the other Pokemon but Ryu didn’t do anything to show that. This was a battle and so he was brave enough to pull it off. Alan liked this dragon Pokemon.

“Finish it off with another Dragon Breath, Ryu!” Alan commanded sternly. “And make it quick.”

Ryu circled around on the ground before he spewed forth the green flames towards the Plusle. Ryu's flames swept over the Plusle for a moment and then they cleared up, revealing the small electric Pokemon to be down for the count.

Plusle: 0/15 (fainted)

The Minun's cheeks sparked a little.

"Thunder Wave, Minun. Use Sweet Kiss" the little girl said to her Pokemon.

The Minun sparked up before dashing towards the Igglybuff as it prepared to kiss the Pokemon. Minun kissed Igglybuff on the cheek but it had no effect. The Minun had messed up on her timing of the move.

[RESULT: 3]

[Amy]

Puffing up with anger at being kissed, Igglybuff let loose with another Faint Attack, flinging herself at Minun.

[RESULT: 4]

"Oh no, Plusle!" Ella said, returning her Pokemon to it's Pokeball. "Okay, go Espeon!" she said, tossing out her second Pokeball and releasing the psychic type.

Alan eyes opened wide as he saw the Espeon. He stared it for awhile as he thought about his next choice. Did he keep his Pokemon in or did he fight with the same one. Ryu did appear to be still ready for battle. Ryu twirled around and cried out its species name rather fiercely. That was settled then. Ryu would go up against this Espeon. Alan hoped that the little dragon Pokemon knew what it was doing.

"I want to see what you can do. Wrap yourself around that Espeon!" he issued the order quickly as he thought it was the best viable choice here.

Ryu shot straight for the lavender fox Pokemon like an arrow heading for its target.

[RESULT: 4]

The serpentine dragon successfully made it past the Espeon and wrapped as much as itself around the Espeon's middle before squeezing. Alan observed the dragon do its best at constricting the Espeon.

"Um. Use Quick Attack!" the little girl yelled to her Pokemon.

"Minun!" the small Pokemon replied cutely as she shot off in a burst of speed towards her opponent

[RESULT: 2]

She rammed into the Igglybuff but unfortunately couldn't do very much. The Minun looked about ready to drop.

[Amy]

Getting thrown back and bouncing along the ground, Igglybuff rolled into Amy's leg. "Come on Igglybuff, that's enough already. You're going to get hurt," Amy said, reaching to grab her Pokemon before she rolled away again. Taking the chance she had, Igglybuff lashed out with another Faint Attack.

"Minun!" Emma called sadly, returning her fainted Pokemon to it's Pokeball. "Alright Umbreon! Take them out for Minun!" she continued, tossing out her next Pokemon.

[RESULT: 8]

Looking at the Dratini wrapped around her, Espeon turned her head to Ella, waiting for some order or something to do about it. "Espeon, fight back! Use Confusion!" Ella called as Espeon turned towards Dratini, letting the attack loose.

Alan looked at his Pokemon for a moment to see that it was going around in circles. Obviously, it couldn’t tell which way was which. He’d best not chance it. But which Pokemon should he choose. He would have to go with one that was good for this sort of thing. That would mean…..

“You did your best, Ryu. But I want to see another Pokemon in action, so you had your chance in the spotlight” Alan replied sternly as he returned his Pokemon to its pokeball. He selected another one and smiled as he held it. “Come on out and play, my dear Amber.” He released the Mew out into the open and looked towards the little girl. Amber had noticed the little girl and almost went over there to start playing with her when she saw the look in Alan’s eyes. He wanted her to battle. She let out a long drawn-out, “Mew!” as if she was sighing.

“Umbreon!” The Umbreon cried out as he agreed with the little girl. He would average his fallen comrade.

“Hit it with Tackle!” the little girl commanded. “Take out that little devil!”

“Bre!” the Umbreon yelled as it charged forward. Its head lowered as it prepared to use its body and head to bash into the small cute Pokemon. He would show no mercy to his opponent. He had to be confident and help out his trainer no matter what.

[RESULT: 9]

The Umbreon seemed to smile as he rammed hard into the Igglybuff, sending it flying, and he stood there with what appeared to be a grin. The little girl screamed in delight at her Pokemon's power.

[Amy]

"Igglybuff, you get back here right now! You're gonna get hurt!" Amy called to her Pokemon, who shook her head angrily. Looking over at Umbreon, Igglybuff tried her best to make a cute face so she wouldn't be attacked again.

Ella looked at the Mew with wide eyes, never having seen the legendary Pokemon before. Espeon, on the other hand, just looked it over for a moment before attacking with Confusion again.

[Alan Nurmi]

Amber made an extended cry as she swirled around in the air, chortling all the while, and then she tried to focus on her opponent. She didn’t hate the Pokemon but she wanted to be useful to her trainer. She did like him far better. Alan watched her antics in the air for a moment and hated this moment. Confusion was the worst thing to have short of poison in his mind.

“Ok, let’s try to break out of it and attack that upstart Psychic Pokemon. Show them, your power. Use Iron Tail!”

[RESULT: 5]

Her tail turned steel grey as she twirled about in the air and finally smacked that upstart psychic fox upside the head and giggled. She was merely being playful after all.

The Umbreon growled as he saw the cute thing acting cute. The girl couldn't help but let out an, "awwwww" in response. She wasn't focusing as much on the battle as the cute Pokemon that you had. She still thought that her Umbreon was cuter than your Pokemon.

"Use Tail Whip on that Pokemon!" she cried out confidently to her Umbreon.

[RESULT: 9]

The Umbreon got close to the Igglybuff and started wagging his tail at it and caused a major distraction to the Igglybuff.

[Amy]

For a moment, Igglybuff was distracted by Umbreon's tail wagging, but quickly recovered and took advantage of her opponent's own distraction to ram into him with a Faint Attack.

Espeon shuddered as she was hit by Amber's attack and for a moment stood there frozen. Once she recovered, she leaped at the Mew with a Tackle attack.

[RESULT: 4]

Igglybuff: 13/24 (-2 to defense)

[Alan Nurmi]

Alan had to stay calm. Amber was doing her best out there but it was only a matter of time before she hit herself in that confused state of hers. He had to be careful. He smiled as an idea came to him. Not that this idea was any different from his other one. Heck , it was the same one.

“You decide on the attack to knock out that Espeon, Amber” he stated kindly to Amber. “Just don’t hurt it too badly.”

“Mew!” Amber yelled in reply before heading in a curvy pattern as she couldn’t even move straight ahead normally. Alan watched as Amber's tail turned to metal before his eyes for just this attack. Amber twirled around and tried to smack the Espeon upside the head again.

[RESULT: 2]

She swung too hard and ended up hitting herself. She didn't cry out but she did glare that the offending Espeon.

"Um. Use Pursuit!" the little girl said as she jumped up and down. She had this one in the bags if that was all the Igglybuff could do to her precious Umbreon.

"Bre!" The Umbreon replied as he agreed with her. Dark energy burst out around his form and charged towards the little Pokemon.

[RESULT: 5] + 1

The Umbreon crashed into the Igglybuff and smirked at the little opponent. This one would be easier to beat. He didn't want to hurt the cute Pokemon too badly and so he held back a little.

[Amy]

Espeon watched as Amber attacked herself, confident that her Confusion had worked. Jumping forward, she tried for another Tackle attack.

Bouncing away slightly as she was hit, Igglybuff recovered and attacked again with Faint Attack.

[Alan Nurmi]

Alan, once allowed for Mew to do what she wanted to do, and that this was her chance to shine on his team. A Pokemon grew stronger from the training that their trainer put them through but he wanted Pokemon that knew how to fight well without his help. He waited as he saw Mew this time, started blowing bubbles out of her mouth in a stream towards her opponent.


[RESULT: 1]

The bubbles connected with the Espeon but didn't do too much damage at all. Amber wasn't concentrating hard enough and being confused made it harder on her. Alan would have to step in and give her some commands the next time.

The girl called out of the Umbreon to do the exact same attack as before. It rushed forward with a purple glow around its body before trying to slam into his opponent.

[RESULT: 3]

The Umbreon's attack connected, driving the smaller Pokemon back, and dealing a bit of damage.
