It was Lee's second gym battle and he was eager to start it. It was only yesterday that he battled those group of trainers. Duke did well, but he was knocked out. It was too bad, really. Duke could have used the experience. Instead, he had to battle with Yolei, his Charmeleon. The Charmeleon hadn't taken to Lee as her new trainer yet. She fought, but not under Lee's direct orders.
Still, he knew most of his line up for this battle. Well, it really depended on the number of Pokemon they'd be using. Lee knew two right off the bat that he'd be using. Duke and Maverick were perfect fits for this gym. If he had to use anymore than just those two, it'd be a hard pick.
As Lee thought about it, he made his way toward the battlefield and began looking around for the gym leader. Would this be like last time? Would he have to call out another gym leader? Would he have to knock on doors? "Hello?" Lee called out, hoping the gym leader was nearby and would answer.

For a few moments, there was silence. At first, it seemed like no-one was home, but not too long after Lee called out, what he probably thought was a pile of life-jackets stood up and yawned. The large water weasel looked him over before stretching out and rotating his tails, changing his focus to what appeared to be a small office. "Floatzel!"
Rather abruptly, a woman with short purple hair burst out of the room, a towel draped over her shoulder as if she'd just gotten out of the water. "Darnit Floatzel, I told you I'd race you la-- oh! We have a visitor" she exclaimed, brightening at the sight of Lee. "Welcome to Torrentia Gym! The name's Aquafina. Here to challenge me?" She sounded a bit too happy at that thought, but could he blame her? She couldn't think of the last time she had a challenger! Without any confirmation she turned on her heel and made her way over to her side of the arena, Floatzel yawning before he took the referee position and got some flags nearby.
"If that's the case, then bring it on! I'll have you know you shouldn't underestimate me, though. My pokemon are very strong. Spheal, front and center!" Rather suddenly, a roly-poly pokemon floated up to the surface out from the bottom of the pool, slapping the water cheerfully as he looked around.
"Spheal!" Spheal: 22/22

Suddenly the gym leader did appear and ready for battle at that. Of course now Lee didn't know any details of the battle or how many Pokemon they would be using, because she didn't say so. It looked like this would be a gym battle Lee would have to go with the flow. "Alright then. A Spheal, huh? Well I choose Maverick!" Lee spoke up. He grabbed Maverick's pokeball and threw it.
Up it's return, Lee caught the pokeball. Before the Spheal was now a Pikachu on dry land. "Pika" he said, eyeing down the Spheal. "Well, let's not waste any time then! Thunder Shock!" Lee called out to Maverick. The Pikachu was charged and ready, letting forth his Thundershock.
[RESULT: 3]+1
And the battle was now under way!

Indeed, Aquafina was rather... eager today, so none of the battle details were given out. However, going with the flow WAS something she liked to enforce, so... all was well! Spheal, noticing the electric attack and not having prepared for it beforehand, simply turned towards the side of the pool and placed a fin there, enduring the Thundershock and grounding himself to try and help. It did, for the most part.
"Okay Spheal. Let's try a Powder Snow to test these two out! Go for a direct hit!" Aquafina called. The seel pokemon shuddered before opening his mouth, an icy blast following as he swam closer to Maverick in the process.

Maverick braced himself for the attack. It helped, but he still took some damage from it. "Pi-Pi-Pika-a-a-achuu!" Maverick practically sneezed. Lee was ready with another command, however. "Come on! Let's try out your Electro Ball attack. Go!" Lee shouted out. Maverick let loose his newest attack.
[RESULT: 1]+1
Not the best start for the newest attack, but Lee was sure Maverick would get the hang of it soon.

Despite his size, Spheal was rather nimble in the water and dodged the majority of the attack, only catching a few sparks that managed to fly off from the ball. As he shook it off, Aquafina stroked her chin and analyzed the situation, tapping her foot as well. Their last attack seemed to do well. "Powder Snow once more!"
"Spheeeeal!" the pokemon cried, mustering up another layer of snow with vigor.
[RESULT: Miss] Spheal: 16/22 Maverick: 25/28

"Oh no you don't. We're ready for it this time, aren't we Maverick?" Lee called out. Maverick nodded quickly. "Pi" he said simply then quickly dodged the attack, jumping to a nearby platform. "Now quickly follow up with another Electro Ball attack!" Lee called out. Maverick did just that.
[RESULT: 1]+1
Maybe they should switch back to the thundershock.

"I see, I see. Not to shabby for a newbie to this field" Aquafina commented, smirking. "But we're just as prepared for that as well!" Spheal nodded right before dodging, once again only catching the very edge of the attack before swimming around, eyeing the Pikachu from afar. Even though they were neck and neck, the Gym Leader didn't like how close this was. She needed a real battle plan, and fast. "Alright. Battle Phase A, Spheal. You know what to do!"
On cue, he nodded and dipped underwater, completely disappearing. He remained hidden for a few seconds, popping up right behind Maverick and firing off an Ice Ball attack. Had to be careful when using the platforms, or else things would sneak up on you...
[RESULT: 6] Spheal: 14/22 Maverick: 19/28

Maverick was taken by surprise from the attack and was knocked clear into the water. Lee looked down at the water's surface, knowing his Pikachu was somewhere beneath there. "Maverick!" he called out. After a couple of moments, the Pikachu's head popped out of water. Knowing the Spheal would be quick on the attack, Lee called out. "Quick, Thundershock while you're in the water. Maverick cried out as he released the attack. "Pikachu!"
[RESULT: 5] +1
That was a serious hit.

"Spheeal!" Being in the water both had advantages and disadvantages, and when it came to electric attacks, well... for Spheal, it was a disadvantage. This time he suffered a good deal, having to shake it off afterward before he could even think of glaring at the Pikachu.
"Hang in there! You're doing excellent so far. He's in your domain now, though. Get closer and use Water Gun!" The dual type didn't hesitate, speeding through the pool and aiming for Maverick as he released a jet of water from his mouth.

It may have been Spheal's domain, but Maverick was still one quick little guy. He dodged yet another attack. "Great work, Maverick. Do the same as before. Use his domain to your advantage!" Lee called out. Maverick let forth yet another Thundershock.
[RESULT: 8] +1
This Thundershock was much stronger than the last and practically lit up the whole room!
Spheal: 0/22 Maverick: 19/28

As the electricity began to form and illuminate the area, all Spheal could do was get wide-eyed and blink in awe. There was no point in even swimming away - by the time he tried to, it was too late. "Spheeeeeeeeal!" he cried, flailing once before rolling over onto his back and floating belly-up, eyes all swirly from having fainted.
"Floatzel Float!" the referee called, flashing a red flag on Aquafina's side. The Gym leader stared for a moment before shaking her head, finding Spheal's pokeball and recalling him. "Valiant effort, little guy. You did your best." Now... who was she to use? Ah, yes. She pulled out another pokeball, smiling deviously as she released her next partner. A small blue creature was left standing on one of the platforms, her antennae glowing as she looked up. "Chinchou!" she cheered, flailing her fins.
"Let's see how you handle this" Aquafina challenged. Chinchou: 28/28 Maverick: 19/28

Lee stared at the dual water/electric Pokemon before him. This clearly took Maverick's advantage away. "Alright. Fine by me. I think I have a solution." Lee said. He recalled Maverick back to his pokeball. "Duke! Come help me out." Lee called out, releasing the grass Pokemon from his pokeball. "Gro" Duke said simply. Lee gave a slight smirk. The advantage was his again. "Duke, use Power Whip!" Lee called out. The Pokemon's leaf blades on his arm suddenly grew with a bright glow about them and he aimed to hit his target.
[RESULT: 6] +1
A hard hit!

Oh, curses. Of course he had a grass pokemon as well. Ah well. This would still be an interesting battle! Chinchou endured the hit and huffed, crossing her arms as she stood tall once more. "Chinchou, get closer via the platforms, hurry!" Aquafina commanded, the pokemon nodding before jumping from pad to pad, getting closer to Duke by the second. "Now, propel yourself off of them and use Flail!"
As she was commanded, Chinchou did a somersault and landed on her antennae, pushing off of them to send her feet and the rest of her body flying at the Grovyle.
[RESULT: 8] Chinchou: 21/28 Duke: 20/28

Duke took the attack then quickly hopped to a platform away from his opponent. Clearly the ferocity of that attack was unexpected. "Absorb, Duke!" Lee called out.
[RESULT: 9] +1
The attack hit hard and although Duke didn't absorb as much health to replenish his own, the attack still dealt a great deal of damage to his opponent.
Chinchou: 11/28 Duke: 21/28
