Seeing it did no damage to Maverick but put the Pokemon in close proximity to the little electric mouse. "Climb on Lapras' back and use Thunder Shock again!" Lee called out. Maverick jumped onto the Lapras and held on tightly as he let forth another Thundershock.

"Clever move, but that won't work" Aquafina declared. "Now Lapras! Submerge him and use Water Pulse!" With a cry, Lapras suddenly dipped into the water and went under in rapid speed, shaking Maverick off before performing the attack.

Maverick was suddenly under water yet again. This wasn't where he wanted to be with the strong Lapras in the water. Maverick began swimming for the surface to reach another platform. Just as he quickly grabbed the side of a platform the water pulse hit and Maverick was launched into the air as he was coming out of water. He landed on the platform with a dud, but managed to shake off the attack pretty well.
"Maverick, Electro Ball in the water" Lee called out, wanting to use the conductive nature of the water to zap the Lapras while it was submerged.
[RESULT: 0] +1
But Maverick just couldn't seem to handle the new attack just yet. Lee would have to do some serious practice with Maverick.

Lapras didn't need any instructing to avoid the attack, diving with incredible speed back into the water, down and down until the threat of the attack was no more. Aquafina, noticing the depth, suddenly stomped two times as hard as she could, peering down into the pool until she noticed the now-shadowy blob turn and move towards the surface from another direction. She smirked and looked back up to Lee, crossing her arms as she waited.
The water grew silent, and a large shadow eventually loomed under the platform Maverick was standing on. Lapras fired a Water Gun from underneath the water at the Pikachu's back, hoping surprise would be on his side.

Lee looked from the gym leader, curiously, to Maverick. After only a moment, something finally clicked and he shouted at his Pokemon. "Maverick, jump up!" he called out. Maverick didn't skip a beat and jumped up as fast as he could. The water gun just barely knicked his tail but it didn't hurt the Pikachu at all. Maverick flipped backwards and dove into the water. While it may not have seemed intentional at the time, it certainly was.
Beneath the water's surface, Maverick found Lapras and used his last attack again. He wanted to rectify his previous mistake, so he used Electro Ball in the water yet again.
[RESULT: 4] +1
After the attack, Maverick began swimming toward the surface yet again and latched onto the side of the platform to pull himself up onto it again.

"Dangit" Aquafina mumbled, clenching her fists when she noticed Lapras return from underwater somewhat tired and shaken. "Ice Shard again!" she commanded, an attack he was already working on firing.

Maverick jumped up onto the platform. The ice shard just barely touched the fur on his tail. The little Pikachu was certainly quick and he was proving it in this battle. "Maverick, quick counter with Thundershock" Lee called out. Maverick charged up the electricity in his cheeks then unleashed them in full ferocity. "PIKACHUUUUU!!!!!" he cried out.

"Noooo! Lapras!" Aquafina called, stamping her feet in frustration. "We've got to give this our all!" Lapras hung his head in near defeat, but quickly raised it again in pride, pulling it back before firing off the strongest Water Gun he could muster.

This was all coming down to the wire. Lapras and Maverick were low on health, but one could tell Lapras was worse for ware. Lee would rather finish this with Maverick, but he still had a strong advantage. Duke still had some health left and he could still use a third Pokemon if he had to. But who knows, maybe this last move could have been it? Assuming Lapras was the last Pokemon of this match.
"Maverick, Thundershock!" Lee called out. "Piiiiii Pikachu!" Maverick called out, mustering what he could for the attack and hoping it was the last one he'd have to use. He was getting tired and needed to finish this in one blow if he could manage.
[RESULT: 7] +1
And that was it! Maverick had managed it! He took out Lapras with that final hit.

Aquafina stood, completely shocked at the sight of her Lapras crying out in pain and flopping his head onto one of the platforms, clearly fainted from that last attack. With regret, the Leader pulled out a worn pokeball and recalled Lapras, Floatzel waving another red flag her way before flashing a green one towards Lee. With her pokemon recalled, Floatzel tossed the flags to the ground and shrugged, hopping into the water to cool off. Being a ref was hard work!
"It's been a while, but you deserve it. Your training has obviously went far" Aquafina said, walking around to the other side of the Gym, her hands full. She flashed a shiny blue object and grinned, shaking her head at herself for having lost. "Congratulations - you've earned the Wave Badge. Oh, and your choice of two TMs of course."

Lee looked at the badge for a moment, grinning from ear to ear. His second gym battle had been much tougher than his first. He needed to use two Pokemon this time and was worried he had to use a third. But all went well. Duke and Maverick performed excellently. He recalled his Pikachu, who was clearly tired out from the battle. He'd take yet another trip to the pokecenter before continuing his journey.
Lee lift the badge in the air. "I just won the Wave badge!" he called out, now unsure why he did that. He then chose Water Pulse as his TM before bidding the gym leader farewell and meeting up with the rest of his crew. After two gym battles, Lee was thinking maybe now was the time for a visit back home.
