Ahhh, that had been a good lunch! Of course, now Lesa was full to bursting, sure that if she took one more single bite she would simply explode all over the sidewalk, but it had been worth it. Lunch with a cute boy, that was always worth a little discomfort. Even better than that, though, that same boy had agreed to accompany her on a most curious errand. Which was how they ended up outside of the Gustella Town gym leader's door, the field behind her. The breeder stretched once before reaching out to knock on Wendy's door.
"Wendy! Hey Wendy! I've come to challenge you to a gym battle!" Lesa called out, glancing around to make sure that the woman wasn't going to come swooping in from out of nowhere and scare the whits out of her.
When it was clear that she wasn't, the girl turned to Conneko and grinned. "This is really just for my own amusement, you know. I'm just curious to see if I can, since I got the Wave badge." She shrugged out of her backpack and held it out to the boy. "If you would take care of this, Conneko, I'd be grateful. My Blizzara egg is inside, so please take extra special care of it." She knew that, as another breeder, he would understand just how much trust she was showing in him to offer up not only a precious egg, but also a marked cherish ball into his care.

Con had somehow agreed, after his lunch with her, to accompany Lesa on her trip to the Gustella Gym so the girl to challenge Wendy, the leader there. He had already been here before because Yuki had come to the same place to receive his badge, and him because he needed the riddle to find the Breeder’s center. He listened as Lesa told him that she was doing this for fun, and how she had gotten he wave badge. He nodded as Crescendo came to sit on his shoulder.
“I’m sure you’ll be able to do it Lesa. I mean you’re Pokemon are all really well taken care of, so I bet they are good battlers as well, they look strong.” He offered kindly, turning to look at Crescendo, who could use a bit more training himself at times. When she handed him her bag and asked him to care for it, he simply chuckled and gave her another soft nod. His hair had been in his face again, so he cleared some of the black strands before speaking.
“Don’t worry ,I’ll make sure everything is all right here, you just focus on the battle.” He promised. Con hadn’t known her too long, and he knew one breeder handing another an egg and a marked cherish ball was not something to take lightly, but Con was not that kind of guy, that was for sure. Of course he’d stay here and support her, since he understood as well that Gym battles were not exactly a Breeder’s comfort zone most of the time.

With a yawn, Wendy opened the door to her small cottage and looked tiredly at Lesa, staying silent for a minute until it clicked who this girl was.
"Well hi there Lesa. A gym battle you say? Well, that's certainly unusual, but ok. Who am I to say who can or can't challenge me? Let's get started. Pidgeot, go get my ref." She said, sauntering out the door and making her way to the battlefield while her bird pokemon followed, Pidgeot flying away and Cici the honchkrow tailing after Wendy. The gym leader stretched her arms out when her Pidgeot returned, Trevor following close behind on his fearow Screecher. Jumping on the sidelines, Trevor gave a knowing smile at Lesa, nodding as he looked at Wendy.
"You rang?" He asked as Screecher waddled to Lesa, crooning at her in greeting. Wendy nodded and gestured towards Lesa.
"From your challenge to mine. Lesa wants a battle." She told him. Trevor nodded and pulled out his judgement flags while Wendy grabbed a pokeball.
"Alright then, the gym battle between Leader Wendy and the challenger Lesa is about to begin. Bring out your pokemon and start the battle!" Trevor said as wendy tossed a ball.
"Come out, Farfetch'd!" She commanded as the portly duck came out, readying his weapon.
Farfetch'd: 23/23

Lesa grinned from ear to ear when Wendy agreed to battle her, though she felt a bit bad about waking the leader up, or keeping her from her nap, whichever the case may have been. Still, she would have a gym battle! The breeder tagged along side as Wendy made her way to the battle field, giving her an abridged version of what had happened since she'd seen the woman only a few days previously.
She was in the middle of her explanation when Trevor flew up. "So after we met with Krister and she gave me the egg and the sticker for the master ball, Celeste won a ribbon, and then we went to Torrentia. And guess who was there! Team Necro! Again! And they had another one of those poor beat up legendaries that were on their way to the Abyss, a Ho-oh. And they'd captured some special pokemon apparently, Sokka here was one of them." She pointed to the silver eevee on her shoulder, not caring at all that she was rambling. The gym leader would probably want to be as up to date on what was happening anyway.
"We were able to beat them though, and just when we thought we'd won, they made the ho-oh use poison gas, of all things! I didn't even know that a ho-oh could learn that attack. We thought we were done for, for sure, but then out of no where this shaymin came and absorbed the poison and sent Necro flying! And you know what?" She turned to look at Trevor, her eyes wide. "The shaymin was from Paradisia! And it had a note from the breeder there saying that the shaymin was mine and it came with the Paradisia Cherish Ball!" She dug in her pocket and handed Trevor the note as proof, feeling like she needed to prove that she wasn't making it up.
Then Lesa seemed to shake herself, and get her mind back on track. "Anyway, after that, Aquafina gave us all Wave Badges for defeating Team Necro, and then Sawyer and Celeste heard about the swarm on Route 801, and here we are. But I can't catch pokemon, and I figured that since if I get certified by Becker I'll have my four symbols and won't have anything else to do, I'd try my hand at Gym Battles." As she spoke, she moved to the side of the field next to where Trevor took up his judges spot, and ordered Comet and Sokka to stay put out of the way. Then she kissed Screecher on the end of his beak and nearly skipped over to her position.
"Hey Trevor, look!" she called out, tossing one of her pokeballs up into the air. Out emerged Jupiter the pidgey, chirping and flying around in circles. "That's Jupiter, Trevor. She hatched from the egg you gave me." Grinning, she turned her attention to Wendy. "I think it's customary for the challenger to make the first move, right?" She waited for the affirmative nod before calling out. "Alright. Let's get this started. Jupiter, steel wing!"
[RESULT: 8]
The little pidgey's wings glowed bright white as she stopped her circling, and swooped down on the farfetch'd, landing a solid blow.

Trevor smiled as the pidgey he bred landed a critical blow on Wendy. As a judge, he wasn't allowed to be biased, but he still hoped for the best for the pidgey. Farfetch'd cried out as he was knocked back, and Wendy smirked at Lesa.
"Not bad. You certainly know your way around a battle. Let's see what you do about this. Farfetch'd, Cut!" She commanded. The bird shook his head to clear it and raised his stick, running towards Jupiter.
[RESULT: 6]
He was good, but he wasn't as good as Jupiter as she dodged a more serious blow. Wendy smiled approvingly as the Pidgey maneuvered away from Farfetched.
"Great work! You've been practicing." She said, with a nod.

Con leaned just slightly on one of the walls far enough from the battlefield, watching from a safe distance. He was very interested in Lesa’s choice of Pokemon when it came to battling Wendy’s Farfectch’d. The Pidgey was the same time, so at least type advantage would be null and void in this situation. He held onto Lesa’s bag carefully, keeping it away from Falsetto as he focused on the gym battle.
There was no doubt in his mind that she was perfectly capable of doing this and winning, and Crescendo seemed to think so too, tilting his head and watching the other birds fight. Con didn’t want to say anything that might distract her, so he waited patiently as the battle progressed a bit. When Wendy seemed to compliment Jupiter, Con nodded to himself, agreeing with her.

Lesa couldn't help but chuckle at the compliment from Wendy. "Well, Team Necro has kept me on my toes," she admitted with a slight nod. Watching as Jupiter swerved out of the way of the farfetch'd attack, Lesa once again nodded. This was the pidgey's first battle, so she was quite impressed at the little pokemon's instincts. "Good girl, Jupiter! Keep it up with an Air Cutter, this time!"
[RESULT: 6] +1 Attack stats [Increased crit strike rate]
It wasn't quite as strong an attack as before, but it nearly was. Lesa whooped as the attack landed. "Awesome Jupiter! You rocks!"

Wendy gritted her teeth as Farfetch'd took the brunt of the air cutter from Jupiter, and he stood uneasily on wobbly legs, panting. The battle just started, but Lesa was giving it everything she had. Wendy gave a smirk as she turned to Farfetch'd.
"Up in the air, use Aerial Ace!" She told him. Farfetch'd nodded and tossed his stick up high, flying up and grabbing it in his feet as he flew towards Jupiter.
[RESULT: 8]
BOOM! He landed a critical hit. Farfetch'd honked happily as he returned to Wendy's side, hovering next to her.
"How are you going to counter that hun?" She asked, sending her Farfetch'd back in front of her.

Lesa watched the farfetch'd as it moved. It was obvious that it was well trained, as expected of a gym leader's pokemon. But she also knew from being around pokemon for so long that one good solid hit would have it down for the count. So as it slammed into Jupiter, she winced, but she didn't start to panic just yet. The pidgey, on the other hand, seemed to take none too kindly to being hit so hard, and began to screech. "Jupiter! Calm down!" she called to her, shaking her head a bit. "You've got a heck of a lot of spunk, you little pidgey," the breeder muttered to herself.
Then, louder, she called out. "We'll counter like this! Jupiter! Use air cutter again!"
[RESULT: 9]
And once again the little bird landed a big hit! The farfetch'd was out for it this time! "Way to go, Jupiter! I knew you could do it!"

Trevor smirked as he raised a flag.
"Farfetch'd is unable to battle, Jupiter is the winner!" He announced. Wendy smiled as she recalled her Farfetch'd, thanking it in the pokeball before placing it back on her belt. She took another pokeball and grinned at Lesa.
"Not bad, but it's not over yet. Let's go Tranquil!" She said as the gray pokemon emerged, dancing in the air. He was rarin to go for this battle!
"Your move." Wendy said with a nod.
Jupiter : 9/23 Tranquil : 26/26

The breeder was happy with her first win of the challenge, but knew the battle was far from over. That farfetch'd had been Wendy's weakest pokemon, and it had dealt some serious blows. She'd have to be extremely careful with this new one, especially since it was fresh and Jupiter was tired. "Are you okay to keep going?" she asked the pidgey, who in response chirped and twirled in some quick circles in the air. Lesa chuckled. That bird had yet to land.
"Alright then. Well, since it's been doing us so well, why don't you try an air cutter on that tranquill!"
[RESULT: 9]
And true to her form all battle long, Jupiter hit home hard and fast. Lesa couldn't help but pump her fist in the air and cheer.

Con hadn’t really gotten to witness his friend’s battle last time he came into this gym, because he was taking his Breeders Test, so he realized a gym battle was a lot tougher than he had anticipated. Lesa was doing alright though, and he pulled the bag she had given him to take care of once again out of Falsetto’s range.
“Try doing that again and I’m going to return you Falsetto…” He muttered to the bird, who puffed out her cheeks before obediently going off to join Staccato. Con sort of rolled his eyes and gave a sigh before turning back to watch the gym battle.

Tranquil cried out as Jupiter's attack landed a critical blow, and Wendy gritted her teeth. So damaged and yet so powerful. She had to give Lesa credit, she certainly did right by birds. The gym leader smirked and raised her hand toward Tranquil.
"Don't give up, use gust!" She told him. The bird loyally obeyed and began to flap his wings rapidly, producing a sort of whirlwind that headed for Jupiter.
[RESULT: Miss]
Too bad for him the pidgey was very agile, and dodged the gust attack with ease, coming out without a scratch. Wendy nodded apprivingly and stretched her arms.
"Not bad, looks like you and Cici are gonna have it out, but we're not done yet!" She told her challenger.

Lesa couldn't help but glow under the praise of the gym leader. he was, after all, the bird master, and if she thought Jupiter was doing well, then she had to be doing something right! And when the pidgey deftly dodged the gust attack, well. The breeder's heart swelled with pride. What a wonderful bird! She couldn't have asked for better from Jupiter.
"Alright, girl. They tried gust on us, so use it right back on them!"
[RESULT: 6]
While not quite as powerful as her other attacks, Jupiter managed to create quite a whirlwind. It was messy, but big enough to knock into the tranquill.

Wendy watched as the gust engulfed her Tranquil for a moment before he broke free, glaring at the smaller bird that attacked him. Wendy sighed as he squawked angrily at Jupiter, and she snapped her fingers.
"Stay calm, use Aerial Ace!" She commanded. Tranquil snorted and rose high in the sky, flipping once and rushing towards Jupiter at great speed.
[RESULT: 9]
And it was a critical hit! The gray bird slammed into the smaller pidgey and knocked her away. Swelling with pride, he returned to Wendy's side and stretched himself out.
"Tran!" He called. Wendy smiled and pat the bird when he grew close, and Trevor surveyed the damage.
"Jupiter is unable to battle, Tranquil wins! what a shame...: He said, mumbling the last part as he raised his flag. Sending her Tranquil in front of her once more, Wendy looked at Lesa with a defiant smile.
"Show me what you are made of. You've got talent, but let's see if you can keep it up." She told her challenger encouragingly.
