"Hurry, Tranny! Use your built up emotion from that last attack to back up a Peck attack!" Wendy asked, even though her tone made it sound more like a demand. Either way, the bird knew exactly what she meant, huffing and puffing before letting loose a mighty screech and darting forward, beak aglow as he aimed for Snivy.
[RESULT: 6] Super-effective +1
With that over, Wendy beamed back at Crescendo. "As am I! It's refreshing seeing my babies battle types like this, it doesn't happen often." Snivy: 10/23 Tranquill: 13/26

Crescendo nodded as Snivy as thrown backwards, digging his vines into the ground before he could hit his trainer. Crescendo closed his eyes for a moment before opening them to reveal a determined gaze.
"Go, tackle once more!" He commanded, and Snivy was more than happy to oblige, running towards Tranquil at full speed.
[RESULT: 2] + 1
Not quite as effective as the last one, but it was enough to wear Tranquil down.
"Just a little more, my friend. We are almost done!" Crescendo called to Snivy.

The Gym Leader had to admit, this little trainer in front of her was a sight for sore eyes. Having confidence and being determined were good things, but the way he handled his partners was something she rarely saw. The bond between good pokemon and their owners was always a please and thank you situation, but Crescendo here still said them aloud anyway, and she smiled because of it. If she were to be honest, it made her feel like she wasn't treating her team right, even though she knew that to be a different story. Where had she seen that sort of kindness before? A long time ago, no doubt... something about a person in contests? Oh, who knew. She never followed that sort of thing.
Nodding to Tranquill, Wendy twirled for no apparent reason and looked to the skies. "Aerial Ace, let's go!" Screeching again, the flying type dove for the snake, attempting to hit him hard.

Crescendo gritted his teeth slightly as his battered Snivy barely stood, looking at his trainer for guidance. Crescendo closed his eyes and reopened them, looking apologetically at the tiny grass snake.
"I am very sorry my friend. Please, just do your best, give that bird one last tackle attack." He commanded. Snivy nodded and pumped his little legs as hard as he could, leaping up to slam into Tranquil.
[RESULT: 7] +1
Crescendo smiled as Tranquil went down, barely able to keep aloft. Snivy wasn't going down without a fight!

Well, seemed that little Snivy still had some oomph in him, eh? Wendy nodded at the pokemon, smiling as she realized how much she was enjoying this battle. Even as her Tranquil went down and she winced, she had to smile at Crescendo.
"You know, and I may have said this already, but this is the biggest fun I've had in a loooong time, bud" she commented, shaking her head at herself. "Looks like we're almost to the long haul. Alright Tranny, let's end this! Aerial Ace!" Although the bird was having a hard time staying aloft, he nodded, having been in a spot like this before. Slowly he rose into the air, spiraling down and into the Snivy.

"Snivy is unable to battle, Tranquil wins!" Trevor said from the sidelines. Crescendo said nothing as he recalled his fallen pokemon, bringing the pokeball up to his face and nodding slightly at it.
"I`m sorry, my friend. You did very well." He said, replacing the pokeball on his belt. He turned to Wendy with a smile growing on his face and he nodded at her, gripping another pokeball tightly.
"I must agree, this is very enjoyable. I think it is time we were on a more even playing field, no? Skarmory, I need your assistance!" He said, tossing up the pokeball. The giant silver bird emerged from the light that burst through, and he immediately circled the field, landing in a flashy fashion in front of his trainer, scratching at the ground with his foot.
"Skaaaaaaaaaar!" He called to Tranquil, ready to fight. Crescendo chuckled and raised his hand.
"Please, use Swift!" He said. Skarmory smiled wickedly and thrust his wings forward, throwing multiple stars at Tranquil.
[RESULT: 3]
Crescendo grinned once more as Tranquil was thrown back by the attack, and Skarmory cried out in victory.
"Stay focused, we aren't done yet!" The boy said to Skarmory, who was all too happy to claim victory.

Wendy blinked as the large steeled bird came into play. A... Skarmory? Now how in the world did this kid get ahold of one of those? She and Trevor exchanged glances between one another but said nothing, the man actually shrugging it off. He was a breeder, not a collector, and was not about to get jealous because of a pokemon. Wendy simply stood there somewhat speechless, unfortunately snapped out of her daze once the pokemon attacked.
"Tranquil!" she cried, zapping the bird into his pokeball before he could hit the ground, knowing that she wouldn't be able to run out and catch him in time. Trevor was about to announce the bird unable to battle, but Wendy waved him off with a scowl. "I know when my pal's fallen you dummy, don't rub it in" she teased, earning an eye roll from the breeder.
"Now then, time to get things started!" The woman turned 'round and looked at the trees, bringing her hands to her mouth to create a shrill whistle. From the treetops came a black form, slowly flying towards them and landing in front of the Skarmory.
"Meet Cici, my ace in the hole!" The Honchkrow stood proudly, preening herself before Wendy motioned to the bird. "Go ahead and start out strong. Dark Pulse!" Within a matter of moments, the crow was in the air, her body glowing oddly as she sent out a wave of blackness over the field and to her opponent.

Crescendo smiled as Skarmory shook the attack off, staring at the Honchkrow with a knowing smirk.
"Please, use Leer!" He called. Skarmory turned around and gave Crescendo a deadpan "Duh." look, and turned back to Cici and glared at it once more.
[RESULT: 4] Cici Takes Normal damage +1
Crescendo blew a note on his flute and watched Wendy with a calm grace.
"Quite a powerful bird you have, but mine is ready to be put to the test. Give us everything you have, dear Leader." He said charmingly, waiting for another move.

"You're rather... politely snarky, you know that kid? But oh well. An opponent is an opponent!" She smirked as he used a stat move, Cici hardly phased by it. "Now, my purdy bird. Gust on that Skarmory!"
"HONCH!" she crowed, not liking the personality of that beast. She backwinged and flapped her wings hard, chuckling in mid-air.
[RESULT: 3] Type resistance -1
Not the best of hits, but they were just getting started. Wendy now tapped her foot, almost becoming impatient, Cici nearly chuckling at her own trainer. Skarmory: 23/30 Cici: 30/30

Crescendo blinked at Wendy and set down his flute as Skarmory shook off Cici's attack with a scoff.
"I`m not trying to be snarky, I really meant it." He said, blinking again. Skarmory rolled his eyes at his trainer and pawed at the dirt again, waiting for a command. Shrugging, Crescendo recovered from the surprising statement and turned to his Skarmory.
"Let us take it to the skies Skarmory, Drill peck!" He commanded. Skarmory nodded and opened his wings, launching himself into the air. Wind began to circle his beak in the form of the attack, and Skarmory began rotating to put even more power into it, effectively turning himself into a missile headed directly for Cici.

Wendy giggled, finding the sudden situation between them to be a bit funny. "S'alright, I get it. We appreciate it - a mighty bird ya got there too." She would have cracked another smile, but before she knew it, Cici was getting drilled backwards by the Skarmory's entire body. Although it could have been a harder attack, the Honchkrow was still feeling the effects. The Leader bit her lip and thought hard.
"Alright, Cici. Grab onto him with your claws and prepare for a close-ranged Dark Pulse!" she said excitedly, feeling a surge of adrenaline pump through her veins as she watched her pokemon grin mischievously at Skarmory. She did just that, grabbing onto one of the bird's wings and sending a large area of darkness over his body.

Crescendo winced as Skarmory felt the effects of a more powerful dark pulse, but it only seemed to fuel the birds rage after the pain subsided, and he bucked in the air to get Cici off. Crescendo's brows furrowed as he placed his flute in the case on his back, cupping his hands over his mouth.
"Please Skarmory! Calm yourself! Use swift up high and then chase it!" He called. Skarmory knew exactly what his trainer was getting at, and thursted his wings back and forth, shooting multiple stars high. Soon the stars reached as high as they could, and came flying down while Skarmory put on the speed, heading right for them.
[RESULT: 10] +1
Skarmory flipped at the last second, forcing Cici to take the entire blast herself. Crescendo grinned as Cici rolled off of Skarmory's back, and the bird roared in defiance.
"Skarmor-YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!" He screamed. Crescendo chuckled sheepishly at Wendy and scratched the back of his head.
"I wouldn't try that again if I were you, he's very temperamental." Crescendo said, putting his hands down.

"Oh Arceus... I think we've started an unintentional war here, Crescendo" Wendy groaned, shaking her head at her pokemon. Cici was just as spirited as the Skarmory, and being bucked and thrown around, especially after the painful attack. From STARS. How humiliating! The Leader knew what was coming, and a her pokemon huffed and circled her opponent from a high altitude, she looked back towards the other trainer.
"Dun worry about it, kid. I'm afraid Cici is the same way. Birds are very proud creatures." She almost flinched as she heard the Honchcrow screech up in the sky, and she had to squint her eyes to see her. There was only one attack that would really have much effect from that high up.
"Aerial Ace, let's go! Don't let your distance put you off and lower your accuracy!" she called. Cici needed no imploring, immediately taking off and chasing after the silver and red bird.

Crescendo chuckled as Skarmory brushed off the attack again, raring to go even though he was starting to tire. The trainer chuckled as he raised a hand over his eyes so that he could see his pokemon.
"Chase her with Drill Peck!" He called, and before he was even finished commanding it Skarmory began to spin with a vengeance towards the Honchkrow.

Wendy scoffed this time, not having prepared for the brute strength of Skarmory. Unfortunately, with him being so close and Cici already well beyond upset, she probably knew what was going to happen next. She saw a flash of blackness up in the sky, but before an attack could be executed, the Leader stamped her foot.
"Don't ya dare! Send 'em flyin' with Gust instead, yer moves are gettin' stale!" She could hear Cici caw in a retort, but the woman smiled as she saw the darkness fade and a funnel of wind summoned instead. Although, maybe she should have stuck with what her pokemon wanted...
