The Beginning

Just as Crescendo was about to reply to the girls he felt Snivy and Skarmory suddenly stiffen. His eyes narrowed slightly as he put his hand back on Shroomish's pokeball, looking around carefully.

"What's wrong?" He asked quickly. Skarmory kneeled down slowly to let Crescendo and Snivy off, and Crescendo patted it's side, causing the bird to stand back up.

"Skar." The bird said quietly.

"Stay with Skarmory, he'll protect you." Crescendo told Soteria while he and Snivy crept forwards. They continued to move forwards until they disappeared in the bushes.

Soteria watched as Crescendo got off of Skarmory after she saw Skarmory and Snivy stiffen. She noticed that her three Pokemon did the same but before she could also get off of Skarmory the metal bird stood back up, after Crescendo patted his side. She was about the ask to come with Crescendo but stopped herself and listen to his words. She hated feeling useless but she figured she could work as back up for Crescendo. But she couldn't help but say, "But I can help."

Kalonice looked between Crescendo and Soteria believing she knew what Crescendo was doing, he was making sure she stayed safe. Kalonice figured it will be a good idea for Soteria to stay behind just in case but she said, "Your not going alone Crescendo I'll go with you. Soteria just stay here as back up alright."

Soteria sighed softly and nodded while she gently petted Skarmory's neck while Crescendo and Kalonice went to investigate. "I know their are just protecting me but I can help," she said softly to the Skarmory.

Before Kalonice got too close, Crescendo and Snivy yelled. The earth shook with great force and Crescendo came flying out as if he were thrown, his back hitting a tree while he clutched Snivy close to him. With the wind knocked out of him, Crescendo was unable to say anything as a blast of ice came towards him, sticking him to the tree. Skarmory grew angry at this and hopped once, adjusting his passenger, before taking to the air, diving towards his trainer with his talons in front when something big and blue collided with him.

The force of the attack threw Soteria and her pokemon off Skarmory, but the metal bird's reflexes allowed him to right himself in the air and flip over, diving once again for the girl and catching her and her pokemon in his talons, descending towards the ground and letting them down as gently as he could before collapsing on the ground.

"Skar...." He moaned quietly. By this time, Crescendo had regained his breath, though he was freezing cold, and looked down at the Snivy encased in ice on his chest. He gritted his teeth as the blue form came swooping out once more, settling in the middle of the group.

This pokemon was a latios, but something was seriously wrong with it. It's blue down was pale, while the white down was faded and light green. Eyes eyes were cold and lifeless, while the left side of its face was a shiny black.

"Where did that runt go? Someone find him and get our weapon back!" Yelled a voice from beyond the bushes. A form emerged from behind the bushes and the strange latios turned to face it, whimpering slightly.

"La." It said simply. The person moved to stand behind it, and it was no mystery who it was. Between the skull mask and the boney "N" on his chest, it was clear that this, was a member of Team Necro.

"Well well well, what have we got here? Surrender your pokemon to us, or you`ll end up like this Latios here." He sneered while his comrades rejoined him.

Jin had been fastening the Victory Scarf on his new Cubone just outside of Dust Town when he heard the commotion. Aeris stood tall, her face stern and ready for battle. The dark haired young man recalled Dyne into his Pokeball and would allow Aeris to protect him.

As the pair ran deeper into the forest, they saw a most gruesome scene. A very sickly looking Latios was before them, and it looked..like he had already kicked the proverbial bucket once..Smelled like it too. Even poor Aeris had to cover her nose. "What foul play is this? What have you done to that poor creature?"

Bice looked out from behind a tree worriedly, Larvitar clinging close to her side while Treecko stood on a tree branch above her head. "Poor thing. It looks horrible," she said, holding back the urge to cry. She'd seen Pokemon in various states of injury, but she knew that even if use hadn't, she could tell just from a glance that the Latios was on it's last legs. And yet...that trainer kept letting him battle. She'd seen trainers like him before and their blatant disregard for anything but themselves always made her feel sick to her stomach. "We need to help that poor Pokemon. Let's go," she said.

"Lar," It's scary, Larvitar said nervously, hiding behind Bice.

"Come on Larvitar. We can't leave an injured Pokemon with people like them," Bice said, gripping her walking stick firmly and stepping out towards the collecting group of people, Treecko eagerly bounding along after her and Larvitar following along against her better judgement.

Soteria gave a cry of worry when she saw Crescendo came flying from where he went and his back hitting a tree before and Ice Beam froze him and his Snivy against the tree. But then she had to hold onto her Pokemon as Skarmory adjusted her on his back before taking off in the air and coming at Crescendo with his talons ready. But before he could do what he could Soteria felt something collide into the metal bird causing her to fall off his back as well as her three Pokemon. She gave a cry as she headed for the ground but calmed down when Skarmory caught her and her friends and eased them down onto the ground. She then looked at Skarmory with concern as he collapse to the ground. She went to the metal bird's side to check on him. Once she was sure he was alright she looked up in time to see the strange looking Latios in the middle of the group.

Soteria gasped when she saw the lifeless eyes in his eyes and knew something was really wrong with the legendary but she wasn't sure what it could be. She glance over to where she heard someone speaking and stood up and in front of her Pokemon. She wasn't sure how much help she can be but she will do what she can to keep her friends safe. She had heard the Latios whimper before the creepy like person came out demanding they hand over their Pokemon and she wanted to help the Latios. She wasn't sure what was wrong but she wanted to help him find peace. She gave a glare at the guy that demanded they hand over their Pokemon and said with firmness, "Forget it. I will not hand my friends over to you. I don't know what you did to that Latios but I'm sure you will pay for it." She wasn't sure if it was a good idea to be this way but she will not let her friends be taken from her and she will do what she can to help the Latios, if she can.

Kalonice watched everything and quickly went over to where Crescendo was. She was the only one with a Pokemon that could free him and his Snivy from the ice trapping him. So she and Calista began to head over to Crescendo's side to help him hoping that Soteria will be alright though she heard others arriving she paid it no mind right now. She was impress with how brave Soteria was.

Quinn and Akakios had also found their way to the Route, and had just settled to take in lunch before they started nosing around in the underbrush. Or... Quinn would be nosing around, since Akakios was to dignified to do such a thing. The Mewtwo was watching his trainer start the fire when something caught his attention. It was too faint for Quinn to hear right away, but she soon also heard it and the two looked in the direction of where the commotion was coming from.

"What is it?" Quinn asked aloud, mainly to herself, as she'd not yet gotten used to Akakios being there and being able to reply.

Something bad. We should avoid it. The Mewtwo replied, not liking the thought of his Quinn getting into danger.

"Trouble? We should go help then." The girl replied. "Maybe someone's being attacked by a Pokemon." She added, putting out the fire and grabbing her bag to run towards the sound. Akakios sighed his displeasure and followed her.

The girl and her Pokemon ducked through the trees and brush just behind Crescendo, and Quinn's face paled. "What is that? What happened to it?"

It is an abomination. Akakios replied, a low growl escaping him audibly as he moved to stand in front of his trainer in preparation.

A small round object came bouncing into view just then, disturbing te figurative peace and quiet as it rustled the undergrowth. Of course, that was nothing compared to the black and brown blur of fur that came bounding ofter the bright red rubber ball, all snarls and yips and stumpy tail wagging. The wagging promptly came to an end when the ball rolled to a stop not a few feet from the feet of the now familiar Necro clad man. The growling picked up, started by snarling and slight whisps of smoke escaping the houndour's nostrils.

A few moments later, the crunching of shoes through the underbrush sounded behind him, accompanied by the sound of irritable grumbling. "Where did you go, you stupid good for nothing mutt? How hard is it to retrieve a ball, for cripes sake? It's red. In a forest! Or are you just color blind?"

At that point, a boy who gave an equal impression of red appeared through the underbrush and scooted up behind his fire dog, a shinx perched on his shoulder. Instead of looking surprised, or even worried, the boy's scowl deepened. "You people again? Honestly, thought I got rid of your foul stench the last time you showed up around here." Then Lani turned to the houndour, who was still growling and staring intently at the red ball. "Leave it, Piro. We'll have to get another one, you'll never get the rotten flavor out of your mouth."

Lee had been traveling with Vincent atop his head wearing his hat. He was strolling along casually before the Venonat seemed to pick up something in the distance that Lee couldn't. "What's up Vincent?" Venonat quickly leapt down from his head and landed on the ground with a plop. The bug pokemon turned around and begin rubbing up against his leg before pointing ahead of them.

Lee looked over where the Venonat was pointing but couldn't see anything. Deciding to investigate it further, however, he ran in the direction Vincent had been pointing earlier. Suddenly it was all the pokemon could do to keep up with his trainer. As Lee was running forward, he could suddenly hear some commotion in the distance. "Come on Vincent!" he shouted as he continued running. Try as he might, the poor Venonat just couldn't keep up and tripped over it's own feet.

Suddenly Vincent was a purple blur as he rolled forward and past Lee like a purple stone. Now it was Lee chasing after Vincent, trying to catch him before he crashed into something. After a few moments, Lee finally managed to catch up to the rolling Venonat and scoop him up in his arms as he continued running. Somehow Lee's cap had managed to stay on Vincent the whole time. Lee was a bit impressed with that.

With Vincent now in his arms, Lee could see a group of people and pokemon alike and...a Latios? But something was all wrong, as Lee looked it over. Finally making his way toward the forming group, he could see a guy with a weird looking costume on. Something was definently wrong with the scene. He let go of his Venonat, and Vincent landed gracefully on the ground. Both pokemon and trainer alike seemed to forget the Venonat was still wearing Lee's cap.

"What is going on here?" Lee questioned simply, though the confusion in his voice was very obvious. Lee had no idea what was going on, but now he suddenly found himself in the midst of it. This had to be the weirdest start to his pokemon journey. If nothing else, he wanted to hope this certainly wasn't the norm.

One by one more trainers arrived, but the Necro Grunt seemed unconcerned as his comrads joined him, one of them carrying an odd object wrapped in a cloth. With a snort, the Grunt raised his hand, snapping his fingers.

"You are all foolish, no one can stop Team Necro! Show them Latios, Luster Purge." He commanded. With audible crackling in his bones and joints, the Latios' eyes glowed and a small ball of purple power began to form in his mouth, with a roar, Latios unleashed a massive beam at every pokemon facing his master, half-reluctant to obey.

*Attacks from Latios will hit all pokemon in battle, recall pokemon you do not want hurt, but I promise no pokemon will be KO'd, even if I have to change the storyline.*

Jin watched as Aeris got slammed with a Luster Purge. She cried out as she hit the ground after being sent skyward. She slowly got up and shook herself off. The breeder she belonged too looked worried, she was such a new Pokemon that they hadn't battled at all yet. "Dear sweet Aeris, Use Bite!"

Aeris let loose a loud cry. "CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!" She ran towards the Latios, teeth bared. She was ready to tear into her smelly oppent, for her trainer! She tripped about halfway through her charge and faceplanted. Ouch.

"Larvitar! Treecko! Get down!" Bice said as Latios attacked, but it wasn't soon enough for them to dodge and both of them were knocked to the ground, though they both tried to get up again afterwards.

"I guess now is as good a time as any," She said, unwrapping the Unovan device she'd been carrying with a sigh. She had hoped that she wouldn't have to bother any of the gym leaders with it, or at least not so soon after getting it, but at the moment, it seemed like the only chance she had to help that poor Latios. Raising it up to her face, she typed in a number to contact the Blizzara gym leader, Frio. "Um...excuse me sir? We have a bit of a problem and I was wondering if you could help us," she said, turning the screen towards the Team Necro members and the undead Latios so Frio could see it. For a moment, it didn't seem like anything was happening and she wondered if something was wrong with her X Transceiver, but than a small glow appeared on the screen and a single Pokeball appeared.

Before Bice could reach for it, it opened on it's own, releasing a Glaceon who glanced around her new surroundings before focusing on the Latios. "Larvitar?" Is she gonna help us? Larvitar asked nervously before Bice returned her and Treecko to their Pokeballs.

"Sorry you two, but you'll be safest in there," she said with a sigh as the Glaceon looked at the Latios curiously. "Um...Attack?" she asked, not sure what attacks the Glaceon actually had. Almost on cue, she fired an Ice Beam at Latios.

"Glace," the Ice-type said, barely moving from where she stood.

Soteria watched with wide eyes as she saw the attack. Grace and Flash jumped in front of her, Grace was only push back from the attack since it had no effect on her but Flash took a minor amount of damage from the Luster Purge and was ready to attack on Tory's command. Andreas wanted to battle too so he can also protect his new trainer but Soteria held him close to prevent him from doing so being sure not to hurt him. "Grace use Leer on Latios and Flash use Thunderwave. It's probably best to start with status moves before we attack him. I don't want to hurt him too much then he already is because of that creep," she said.

Grace and Flash nodded and soon Grace's eyes began to glow red while Flash had electric waves surrounding his body. But sadly, even though the two of them gave it their best shot, but Grace's Leer seemed to have no effect on the Latios this round and Flash's Thunderwave miss by a few inches of hitting Latios.

Kalonice just stayed near Crescendo hoping that Calista's heat will melt the ice soon.

Oh, Abeon was not a happy shinx, no he was not. The little blue cub's hair stood on end and began to crackle as the Necro man spoke, and when the latios was ordered to attack his man, Abeon jumped to the ground with the best threatening sound his little body could manage. He didn't wait for a command, nor for the enemy to finish building it's attack before he let off a spark attack.

Piro did not wait either. After all, that... that thing was threatening his ball!

Lani, for his part, simply stood there looking rather bored, his arms crossed over his chest as the two pokemon got tossed back a bit. "You two are so weak! Useless."

The Luster Purge hit Akakios and he stumbled back, grimacing against the pain of the hit, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. He straightened himself back up, shaking himself off and took a step forward towards the Latios.

"Oh... the poor thing, I wish we could do something else..." Quinn wavered, but then steeled her face. "Akakios, attack!" She commanded.

As you wish. The Mewtwo replied, a shadowy claw forming around one hand as he leapt forward and drew back to strike.

Once his attack had hit, Akakios jumped back to block his Quinn from danger.
