Jace made his way from the Necro base to Route 802 just outside Gustella Town, his home town. He had Houndour with him while Jet was in his pokeball. Jace needed to train Houndour. He felt if he was going to get anywhere in Team Necro, he had to have stronger pokemon. He saw how Tayuya was in action. If he wanted to get anything from Team Necro, he had to have the strength to grab it.
Houndour stood before him as Jace looked around for any wilds that might be out and about. With any luck, they'd stumble across some grass or bug type pokemon. Houndour's fire type attacks would be super effective against them. So far Jace wasn't having any luck spotting any wild pokemon. Just where could they be? Route 802 wasn't short on wild pokemon, that was for sure.
Jace also knew the pokemon on this route were slightly stronger than those on Route 801. Jace would need all the edge he could get to train Houndour and make him stronger. Jace continued walking down the route, Houndour following infront of him. Houndour glanced around his surroundings, trying to find a wild pokemon they could battle. Suddenly, however, Houndour started to give a bark. Something was nearby and hopefully it was a wild pokemon the hound could take on.

Indeed, it was a wild pokemon. But there wasn't just one. It was as if the inhabitants of this route knew of Jace's position within Team Necro - knew of what they did - understood what he'd ultimately have to do. And they were not happy about it. Slowly, dozens upon dozens of eyes peered out from behind the scarce foliage to glare at Jace and Houndour, a few even stepping forth to challenge him head on. They wouldn't let a person who'd harm pokemon like that get away so easily!
First, a Doduo was on the scene, his heads bobbing as he scratched the ground furiously. Team Necro had taken away his mother, a mighty Dodrio, and he never saw her again. This brat would pay for their actions!

Jace looked around him. Suddenly it was all too easy to find wild pokemon. His presence in particular seemed to...agitate them more than any other normal trainer. Some began stepping out of the shadows they were hiding in. A Doduo in particular was now challenging him. Jace wouldn't back down, no matter what the odds.
"Houndour, Fire Fang!" he called out. Houndour charged the Doduo, fangs now blazing. He went to chomp into the Doduo. Success! Houndour chomped into the Doduo's leg for some decent damage.

Perhaps getting so close to the Doduo wasn't such a good idea. It squawked, shaking it's leg to rid itself of the pest, suddenly dipping both heads down in rapid succession as he attempted to Peck Houndour to death. Well, maybe not to death, but just to get his jaws unfurled from his appendage. The other pokemon slowly started to cheer the flying type on, more of them coming out and ready to step in when needed.

Houndour jumped back to avoid more pecking from the Doduo. He shook his head. Jace called out the same attack again. "Fire Fang again!" Houndour went at Doduo with the same attack.

Hmph! As the dual type canine came charging, the bird easily slid out of the way, chasing Houndour around while shrieking a battle cry. He would not be made a fool of with that move twice! He stopped for but a moment to gather his emotions, one of its eyes twitching as an annoyed mark appeared over his heads, the color of his feathers flushing red before he flailed forward, eager to pummel Houndour with a Rage attack. If someone were to watch from the sidelines at that point, they may have thought Doduo had Bird Flu...

Houndour shook it off. Jace called for Ember this time.
[RESULT: Miss]
No dice. The pokemon dodged it. Jace facepalmed, getting irritated at his Houndour. "Come on! You're better than this!" he commanded.

Not only did Doduo dodge, but he immediately stopped his rage, tossed his heads back to laugh, and chuckled. Heh, if this was what Necro was recruiting these days, the pokemon world would be saved in no time! No longer seeing Jace as a threat, the pokemon skipped off and allowed another to float onto the scene, this one a cute, but scarred Hoppip. She may have been female, but she was not one to toy with. She hovered and gave the pair the evil eye, waiting for them to move.

Jace watched as the Doduo fled. It seemed to think he and Houndour was a joke. Jace clinched his fists and growled under his breath. He'd show them all! "Fire Fang on that Hoppip."

Owie! Hoppip peeped in pain and floated backwards, closing one of her eyes to snort in anguish. Stupid fire pokemon! Waggling her tail determinedly, she inhaled sharply and braced herself for a hard tackle on Houndour's rear, hoping to punt him a good distance away.

Hoppip followed the exact same routine as before, not seeing any reason to do something else for the time being, launching herself at Houndour with Tackle.

Jace just couldn't catch a break. This was only the second pokemon of many ready to go at him and he was still having so much trouble. He needed to end the battle with this one quick and be ready to move onto the next. Houndour needed to be stronger. "Fire Fang!"
[RESULT: 7]+1
Thankfully Houndour did just that. He ended the battle with a Fire Fang. Hoppip was fainted.

The surrounding forest erupted into cries of frustration as Hoppip fainted, and the pokemon fought amongst themselves to see who would be next to pummel the boy and his pokemon. As they argued, a rather derpy Ducklett waddled up, facing the Houndour and waiting for... well, he wasn't really sure what he was waiting for. This was how battles started, right? As the others looked up and realized who was about to face Jace, they all cried out again and put their rage faces on. Not Ducklett! He wouldn't help at all!

Jace sighed as the next pokemon revealed himself. A water type pokemon. Just what he didn't want to encounter. Though...the duck pokemon didn't seem all that swift. It didn't even attack yet. Well...it'd be a disadvantage Houndour would have to learn to deal with. This was training, after all. He gave Houndour the second of his five berries he had on him. "Ember!"
