The dragon rage hit it's mark and Tranquil screeched in pain, but quickly shook it off and maintained his flight, much to Wendy's delight. He grin grew wider as she looked on at her pokemon and clenched her hand.
"Now, use Gust!" She commanded. Tranquil said nothing as he loyally obeyed, flapping his wings harder to create a whirlwind toward Luca.
[RESULT: 7]
Luca was surrounded by the wind as Tranquil beat his wings faster and faster, and the force of the air was enough to lift Luca off the ground and send him flying toward Sawyer.

Who ever knew a Gust could be so powerful.
Both Sawyer and Luca were slammed to the ground upon impact, the girl breaking her pokemon's fall. Thankfully it wasn't the other way around or the poor Axew would have been flatter than a Stunfisk. Now that the green lizard was in her arms, she supposed it would be a good time to switch back out. Presenting the dragon type with another Oran berry, Sawyer quickly motioned to Paisley that it was time to return to the battleground. The Mareep was more than ecstatic, bouncing around happily before the Tranquil and letting loose a shrill 'maaaaaaaah' to show she meant business.
"Thundershock him Paisley!" she called, watching with baited breath as the pokemon aimed and fired a yellowy bolt towards the bird.
[RESULT: 8] Super-effective +1
Surprisingly, the little sheep wasn't cocky at all when the pokemon was zapped, instead quickly moving about in preparation for her opponent's next move. Farfetch'd: 0/23Tranquill: 11/26 ______________ Luca: 20/21 Paisley: 21/23

"Counter with Aerial Ace!" Wendy said as Tranquil struggled to recover from the attack. Shaking from the move, Tranquil flew up high, spinning once before divebombing towards the ground, pulling up at the last minute and heading right towards Paisley.
"Tran!"

And the attack landed, scoring a critical hit. Tranquil chuckled to itself after it pulled out of the fluffy wool and stared Paisley down, daring her to attack again.

"Maaaaaahreep! Maaaah maah!" You crazy avian dunce! you could have pulled my wool out! Paisley cried, staggering to her feet and shaking herself off. Apparently she needed to work on her dodging skills and speed, for she couldn't even dodge that bird brain! Snorting, the pokemon failed to wait for any instructions from her trainer, firing another Thundershock into the sky.

"We're just getting warmed up, Wendy! Just wait and see!" Sawyer chided, impressed with her Mareep's guts, yet slightly disappointed that she didn't wait to see what she had to say first. Tranquil ignored the taunt as he struggled to his feet. To say Wendy was impress would be an understatement. She put a hand to her chin in contemplation and nodded in Sawyer's direction.
"This is the most fun I've had in a long time, Sawyer. You are doing very well for your first gym battle. Ok, use Aerial Ace once more!" She proudly called. Tranquil opened his wings and flew up, flipping once and then headed right towards Paisley.
[RESULT: 5] Not very effective - 1
And again he scored another hit, though it was a much lighter one than his previous attacks.

The young trainer couldn't help but beam in pride at the Leader's comment. This too was the most fun she'd had in a long time, aside from kicking the rears of those weird Team Necro punks. But, if she had to choose, she'd definitely pick now as her most thrilling pokemon adventure moment so far; the lack of hearing about the deaths of mother pokemon in this battle helped gain her choice a significant amount of favoritism. Paisley too was feeling rather proud of herself, choosing to strut around as if nothing had happened after Tranquil's attack. Although Sawyer didn't want to keep firing the same moves over and over, using Tackle wouldn't be of much use, thanks to the bird's height.
"Thundershock one more time. Don't focus too much on power - try to work on hitting it instead" she instructed. The Mareep gave a curt nod, and without much of a wait, sent the bolt hurling towards the sky.
[RESULT: 6] Super-effective +1
It was a bit of an overkill, but Sawyer wasn't going to complain. The wooly creature cried out in joy and sent a smug look towards Wendy, her tail high as she skipped back to her trainer. As her routine had been going, Paisley received an Oran berry upon arrival, and it would be the last one she'd receive during the battle. Luca gave his friend a congratulatory pat before standing alert before Sawyer, looking around to try and see the next opponent before it snuck in an attack.

Wendy gave an approving nod as she took out Tranquil's pokeball and held it up, cracking a smile.
"Return Tranquil. You did great." She said as the bird was recalled. Hugging it to her chest she replaced the ball back on her belt and put a hand to her hip, leaning on one leg.
"I gotta say, you are quite the impressive trainer. Most new trainers don't make it past Tranquil their first time in. You're really something. Now then, for my last pokemon, Cici! Come to me." She called, holding out her arm. Her Honchkrow flew up and landed on her arm, staring intently at Luca before Wendy threw her arm up, launching the bird into the sky.
"Let's see if you can keep this up Sawyer. My Honchkrow is not going to make it easy for you." She said as she and her pokemon waited for Sawyer to make her move.

"Well, I wouldn't have gotten this far without my pokemon, so they're just as impressive as I am. There are others to thank as well, but I don't have time to read off of a list" Sawyer replied, shaking her head in a lighthearted manner. "Now then... a Honchkrow?" The girl had been whipping out her Pokedex and scanning each of the Leader's pokemon as she'd seen them, but she hadn't really listened to the information that had been read off until now.
"Honchkrow, the Big Boss Pokémon and the evolved form of Murkrow. Honchkrow recruits many Murkrow to travel with it, and it spends much of its time at home preening its feathers." The girl blinked and then tucked the device back into one of her pockets, her tongue sticking out just a tad as she thought things over. Luca awaited a command, tilting his head and studying the 'big boss' pokemon with a gaze just as intent as his opponent's. After a few moments Sawyer sighed and nodded to herself.
"Start things off with Incinerate, Luca! And try to keep on your toes to dodge its attacks!" Honing in on the bird, the Axew jumped up as he belted out the flame.
"Axew!"

Although Luca's Incinerate was by no means weak, it was not enough to truly hurt Wendy's Honchkrow. The dark bird shook her head and quickly recovered, flying down towards Luca.
"Attagirl, use Aerial Ace!" Wendy commanded. The Honchkrow tucked in her wings as she sailed towards Luca, aiming carefully.

Formidable indeed, but the Axew wasn't thrown for a loop quite yet. He was on his feet and chasing after the Honchkrow within a matter of moments, albeit his pace was slightly slower. Sawyer's fingers were rapping against her arm as she watched the display, leaning forward a bit when she saw the bird turn her back. Oddly enough, Luca did the exact same thing.
"Dragon Rage!" she called, Luca pausing in mid-run to follow through with the command.

Cici cried out as the attack made impact, and Wendy's eyes widened, her demeanor becoming more aggressive. It was coming down to the wire, and she had to get in gear if she was gonna stop this challenger.
"Dark Pulse!" She commanded. The honchkrow opened her eyes and turned towards Luca, aiming a dark spiral of energy right at him.

The hair on the back of the trainer's neck rose as she noticed the anger fueling within the Gym Leader, however, she didn't back down. Seeing the Dark Pulse slam Luca against the ground got her blood boiling just as fervently as Wendy's was, if not more. How dare that ragamuffin bird do that to him!
Clenching her hand around one of her arms, all she had to do was snap her fingers to send the dragon type rallying back at Cici with Dragon Rage, his feelings reflecting those of his trainer. She knew the lizard's health was depleting, but he could hold out for a little while longer she hoped.

Cici was thrown back from the force of the dragon rage and sailed through the air, her trainer gritting her teeth.
"Pull up! Pull up Cici!" She told her. The Honchkrow struggled to obey her and flipped her wings open, flapping them hard to pull herself back into controlled flight. She flapped hard to stay airborne and stared determinedly at Luca, unwilling to go down without a fight.
"Aerial ace!" Wendy commanded, and Cici the honchkrow gave a piercing shriek as she rushed downward, aiming for Luca.

That last attack of Luca's must have really done a number on the Honchkrow. When she first started out, her aim was true, but the further she traveled, the more her wings gave out, and she sort of flail-bombed the ground next to the Axew, who managed to have enough energy to dodge.
"Great job Luca" Sawyer cheered, encouraging her little friend. She waited for a second to allow her pokemon to catch his breath before telling him what to do next, her heart about to pound out of her chest at the excitement of the final moments of her Gym battle. Digging their heels into the dirt, both the trainer and Paisley focused solely on Luca.
"Dual Chop!"
"Axew!" The dragon cried, his tusks acquiring a faint glow as he charged, slashing his head sideways at Cici before she had any time to take off.
[RESULT: 8]
The trio stood, honestly baffled as the Honchkrow fell to the ground, a worn 'caw' escaping her beak before flomping onto the ground. Sawyer could feel her hands shaking, but she found Luca leaping into her arms with the biggest grin on his face that she'd ever seen. They twirled around, and Paisley was about to jump in on the fun, but something stopped her from doing so. A massive ray of light flowed over the wooly beast, and at first, Sawyer had no idea what was going on and feared for the safety of her pokemon. But when the light faded, all she could do was smile.
"Flaaaffy!" the new pokemon spoke, blinking and turning her head to look at her new form. Paisley must have been happy with what she saw, since the next thing she did was place her paws on her hips and look upwards proudly. Still holding Luca in one arm, Sawyer struggled to pull her Pokedex out of her pocket, quickly scanning the Mareep's evolution.
"Flaaffy, the Wool Pokémon. Flaaffy builds up electricity in its thick coat of fur, but is uneffected by it thanks to its rubber-like skin." Luca wriggled free of his trainer's grasp to sniff at the new Paisley, and the girl ignored them both to go approach Wendy. She had no idea how the brash woman would react, but.. there were things to be done.
"That was an amazing battle, Wendy. My pokemon have never fought so hard" she offered, extending her hand. Farfetch'd: 0/23 Tranquil: 0/26 Cici: 0/30______________ Luca: 8/21 Paisley: 20/23

Wendy strutted over to her fallen honchkrow, who looked up at her trainer sadly. Wendy smiled as she picked the bird up and hugged her tightly, grabbing Cici's pokeball on her belt. "You did great. I`m so proud." Wendy told the bird as she recalled her into the ball. She faced Sawyer with a smile and grabbed her hand, shaking it. "You did marvelously. I must say I am impressed. Well, as proof of your winning at the Gustella Gym, I present you with the Float Badge. You may also choose one of my two TMs. Which do you pick?" She said, holding out the Badge and the move teaching device. Badge Obtained: TM Selection: G5TM 40 Aerial Ace OR G5TM 62 Acrobatics
