Soteria entered Dust Town with excitement showing in each step she took. She had just came from her new home of Gustella Town, luckily without any trouble, so she can start out her journey at becoming a breeder. She knew that the road will be a tough one but she was ready to start the journey, especially along with her Pokemon. So, she headed towards the Pokemon Lab ready to begin her journey. Soteria had also heard that the lab gives out mystery balls that will have a surprise Pokemon in it so she thought that will be interesting. Maybe she will get a really good partner to help her out on her breeder journey. Soon she was in front of the lab door and, after she took a deep breath, she gave it a knock ready to see what will be offered to her as her partner.

The door slowly opened and Professor Conifer peeked out, looking slightly pale as she smiled softly at Soteria. She gestured for the girl to come in and led her into the lab. "Hi there. I`ve been expecting you." She said in a raspy voice. She coughed a couple of times and took out a drink from her side, swaying slightly. "I`m sorry, I caught a cold from a badly-aimed Ice Beam from one of the pokemon I`m watching. I am Professor Conifer, this way please." She said, sauntering over towards a room in the back of the lab, lights flashing everywhere from the machines, accompanied by beeps and sirens of all kinds. She walked into a door in the back of the room, backing up slowly as it opened up, a flash of blue and purple retreating from the door. In this back room, a podium stood in the center with 9 pokeballs on it. The blue and purple form from before ducked under Professor Conifer as she stumbled, allowing her to use it as a sort of crutch as they walked around the podium, opening the pokeballs until 6 pokemon stood at attention. "Thank you Ranny." She mumbled, crawling onto the pokemon's back. "Suicune." It replied, turning so that Conifer could face Soteria. "Now then, new trainers only get one pokemon, but breeders get to pick two. Pick any two you like. the unopened pokeballs are mystery pokemon, they can be anything. i`ve seen people walk out with Caterpie and Feebas, and I`ve seen people walk out with Lugia and Dialga. The mystery pokemon is permanent, though, so choose wisely." She said, coughing once more as Ranny the Suicune watched the girl carefully.        |

Soteria smiled at Professor Conifer but then looked at her with concern when she heard that she got hit by a badly-aimed Ice Beam but she was glad that she was able to get to her so she could pick her starters since she heard Professor Conifer saying that since she is a breeder she will be able to start with two Pokemon. As she followed Professor Conifer and saw the flashing lights of the lab and she thought she saw a flash of blue and purple as it retreated from the door before she opened it. Not to long after they came into the room the blue and purple again as it duck under the professor and let her lean on it. Soteria tried to see what it was while she listen to Professor Conifer call the Pokemon, at least she assumed it was a Pokemon, Ranny.
When the Pokemon said 'Suicune' she realized that the Pokemon was the Legendary Pokemon Suicune. She was surprise but happy to see the Pokemon. She heard that seeing a Legendary Pokemon at the beginning of your journey means good luck to you. She suppose this would count. After her thoughts she looked at her choice of Pokemon and she was really happy to see that Zorua was in the selection. "I hope you feel better soon Professor Conifer and I would like to pick Zorua and one of the mystery balls please," she said politely and smiled at Ranny when she noticed the Suicune was looking at her. As she said her words she looked carefully at the three Mystery balls and picked up the left mystery ball before tossing it in the air to open it so she could see who her second partner will be along with Zorua

The Zorua trotted over to stand beside her trainer and watched the pokeball with awe as it opened up, a white light erupting from it and taking form in front of the pair. No sooner had the light taken shape, the pokemon burst from it's spot and ran around the lab. "Triiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!" It screamed, while the Zorua looked on in bewilderment. The pokemon dashed all over the room, a green blur with yellow, sparks flying. Ranny gave an irritated huff, and the Zorua noticed this. As a result, she stuck out her tail while the pokemon was running and tripped it, sending the pokemon rolling end over end until it crashed into Soteria's leg. With it's back lined up against her ankle, the upside-down pokemon looked at her with a strange grin. "Electrike!" He chirped while Zorua giggled at it, Ranny giving her an approving croon. Pokemon Name: Zorua Gender: Female Pokemon Personality: Mischievous, Helpful, Analytical Pokemon Ability: Illusion Pokemon Health: 25 Pokemon Level: 5 Move Roster: Scratch, Leer, Pursuit  Pokemon Name: Electrike Gender: Male Pokemon Personality: Hyper, Goofy, Loyal Pokemon Ability: Lighteningrod Pokemon Health: 26 Pokemon Level: 5 Move Roster: Electroball, Tackle, Thunderwave, Crunch |

Soteria smiled as the Zorua as she stood beside her but then her eyes widen when the green flash began to run around the lab after it came out of it's ball before it trip over Zorua's tail and landing upside down at her leg. She looked down and saw the Electrike looking up at her with a goofy grin which she couldn't help but return. She knelt down and helped the cute and goofy Electrike back on his paws and then looked at her two new friends thinking of a good names for them. After a few moments of thought she looked at her Zorua and said softly, "Zorua I'm going to call you Grace and Electrike I'm going to call you Flash. Do you like those names." She had heard Zorua, now named Grace if she liked the name, giggle after she tripped Electrike, now named Flash if he liked it and saw Ranny give an approving look to her.
She wasn't sure what her new partners are like yet but she wondered if they like being out of their ball or inside them. She gently gave a gentle scratching or petting on the two of them.

Soteria nodded and went to pick up a Red Pokedex and a bad as well as the items. She then looked at Professor Conifer and said, "Thank you Professor take care and get well soon." She then gave a wave and a smile before she, with Grace and Flash, left the lab.

Lee walked out of his home in Dust Town, looking a bit unsure of himself. He was dressed in a plain light green t-shirt and a pair of jeans. He had a pair of durable boots on, figuring they would fare better in his travels than the usual sneakers he wore. He had his green back pack on, packed with food and other essentials. His mother was insistant on overlooking and double checking everything he packed, then added what she thought was best.
He wouldn't fight her over it, though. He could understand where she was coming from. She was a concerned mother worried about her child's first time leaving the nest. Lee figured he was going to set the standard for his younger siblings. The twins had begged and begged him to let them join him on his quest, but he knew his mother wouldn't allow it and he knew this wasn't their path to take.
"They'll pave their own path someday", he said quietly to himself as he looked back at his house. He already said his goodbyes. For all intents and purposes, his journey had started and yet he had only just walked out the front door. He gave a sigh, just knowing that his mother was probably in her room shedding tears while his siblings were either doing the same or were probably in some state of confusion about what their mom was doing. At the thought of the latter, he couldn't help but give a chuckle.
He turned his gaze from his house and began walking toward the lab. He had never been inside the lab itself, but he had seen many pokemon trainers come to and from the lab. He could only wonder what was inside and what it was like. As he came closer to the lab, he noticed someone walking out of it. She was a girl with two pokemon. But as Lee drew closer and closer to the lab, the girl had left with her pokemon. It was the story of many that came here. Maybe he would get to meet her later.
Finally standing before the lab, Lee looked it over. An impressed smirk formed on his lips before he finally approached the door. Figuring it would be too rude to simply barge in, Lee gave a heavy knock on the door. He let out a sharp exhale, knowing this was the first big step in his journey. After a few moments, he knocked again. Still nothing. He cocked his head to the side, then looked around for a moment before slowly opening the door.
He peeked his head inside, but still couldn't see the professor. He slowly entered the lab and closed the door behind him, then looked around sheepishly as he continued further into the lab. "Uh...hello?" he all but shouted out as he tried to locate the professor. As he made his way to the back of the lab, he had to wonder if this was an ill omen. Already at the start of his journey and he couldn't even locate the professor.
As he entered the back of the lab where the pokemon were, he glanced around yet again. "Hello? Anyone here?" he continued to question as he tried to locate the professor. He saw one pokemon trainer that had just left this lab with two pokemon, so surely she was still around.

"Welcome! Come on in and get started. You heard everything I said to the last person right?" Professor Conifer asked, her voice still breaking up. The suicune under her shifted to help her get more comfortable and then pointed towards the podium and the pokeballs.
"Suicune." It barked, making the Professor Chuckle.
"Please, take your pick, trainers only get one." She said, trying to be nice.

Lee blinked a few times as the professor asked if he had heard what she told the last person. He hadn't been within earshot of that conversation, but he was starting to wish he had been. He shook his head before finally stating "No". The answer was simple, but it was all that he could choke up. For some reason, words seem to catch in his throat. It had to be his nerves. That's the only thing he could think of.
Speaking of nerves, Lee practically jumped out of his skin when he heard the Suicune's bark. He hadn't even noticed anyone or anything other than the professor and it clearly startled him. He settled down and looked at the professor, hoping she didn't see his embarrassment. Whether she did or didn't, she continued talking. She instructed him on what to do. Unlike the girl he had seen with two pokemon, he'd only get one. That was fine by him. One was better than none, he assured himself.
He did as the professor instructed and walked up to the podium and surveyed his options. All seemed like good options, but he was terribly indecisive. This was a huge decision to him. It would be his first pokemon, after all. This would set the tone for his journey as a trainer. He noticed not all options were straightforward. Some would be a mystery to him until after he already decided on them. Taking chances wasn't something Lee did often, and he didn't know how comfortable he'd be with a random option.
Then again, he was having such a hard time choosing out of the options readily apparent to him that maybe having his choice decided for him was best. Perhaps there was a sort of fate in those mystery options. He was weighing the decision back and forth in his mind. He finally had it narrowed down to three, after some lengthy thought. Bulbasaur, Tododile, or a mystery option.
Yet having it narrowed down to three, he still couldn't choose. He was mentally berating himself for taking so long on the decision. He finally turned around to the professor and shrugged his shoulders. "Guess I'll let fate decide. I'll take one of the mystery balls." Lee was both excited and nervous over what may come from the option he finally chose.

Lee picked up the pokeball he chose and tossed it up. The pokeball burst open and a white light emerged from it, taking shape in front of him. When the light faded, the pokemon had a sort of staring contest with its new trainer. It was the perfect opponent for this activity, for it had large red eyes in the middle of poofy purple fur. "Venonat." It chirped, jumping into his arms excitedly. It snuggled into his arms happily, content with its new partner.  Pokemon Name: Venonat Gender: Male Pokemon Personality: Excited, Cuddly, Trustworthy Pokemon Ability: Compoundeyes Pokemon Health: 27 Pokemon Level: 5 Move Roster: Tackle, Disable, Foresight, Supersonic, Bug Bite |

Lee's eyes opened wide as the light burst forth from the ball. There was no telling what pokemon this would turn out to be. When the spectacle finally ended, Lee found himself in a staring contest with...a Venonat! Lee certainly knew he wasn't going to win this contest, but Lee's stare was more out of curiousity. Lee cocked his head to the side as he surveyed the pokemon. The action seemed to trigger his partner's response, however, as the Venonat suddenly chirped his name and jumped into his arms.
Lee yelped in excitement, but caught the cuddly pokemon in his arms and held him. "Hm" he hummed quietly to himself as he thought of an appropriate name for him. "Just what do I name you, little guy?" he asked mostly to himself as he scratched the bug pokemon on the top of his head. "Vincent" he said as he continued to scratch the top of his Venonat's head.
Vincent jumped from his arms and back down to the ground. "Venonat!" he said excitedly. Lee couldn't help but flash a grin. It seemed the little guy liked his name well enough, that was for sure. He turned around to the professor, allowing Vincent to stay out of his pokeball for the time being. "Guess he'll win all the staring contests. Just got him and he's already won his first one!" Lee joked casually before taking a couple of steps away from the podium and toward the professor.
"Is that it?" he asked, quite unsure what to do next. He wasn't exactly well versed on the life of a pokemon trainer. Then again, if he were then that'd mean he probably already was one. He mentally shrugged off the thought and awaited further instruction from the professor.

Professor Conifer weakly chuckled and pointed towards the equipment in the back of the room.
"Get a bag, a pokedex and the equipment then you can leave" Was all she said as she coughed once more, leaning on Ranny the suicune more.

Lee simply nodded along, now taking note of the professor's condition. How did he not see that earlier? Why was it so apparent to him now, as opposed to before? Was it simply because he was caught in the moment? Lee was mentally berating himself yet again for not paying closer attention. He slowly slinked away and toward the collection of pokedexes. They came in a wide variety of colors.
Lee took shorter time choosing a pokedex than he did a pokemon. The color of one just didn't seem as important a decision as what pokemon he should start with. He grabbed a blue one and looked it over for a moment. He then nodded and turned away, content with his decision. But when he went over to the bags, he glanced over his shoulder at the green backpack he had on now.
He looked over toward the professor, debating the question he was about to ask in his mind before finally asking it. "Would it be alright if I just used this one? I'd hate to grab another one. Someone else would probably have more use of it than I would." Not to say he couldn't use a back up. He also didn't know if there was anything special about the bags themselves that would render his green backpack unacceptable for the task. Better to ask the question and know than to decide on his own.
After a couple of moments he also added in another question. "Are you going to be alright professor? You don't sound well." He glanced over the professor again, taking in the state she was in now. He really didn't get how he could have missed it before. He would need a greater sense of awareness for the journey ahead of him.

The Professor raised her head from the fluffy purple mane of Ranny and gave a sheepish smile.
"Don't you worry about me, just a bug from an accident. You should get going." She told him, waving dismissively at him while sniffling. She was extremely tired, but she would have to pull through for anymore visitors.
