Jessa was anxious about this. Her first contest... She was shaking as she walked up to Nurse Joy, Corona in her arms. "Is this where the contest sign up is? I'm looking to enter the Gustella Contest."
Nurse Joy nodded. "I just need to see your pass and your name, darling." Jessa made an 'oh' sound and pulled out her pass and held it up. "My name is Jessa Bellafonte. This is my first contest." A few moments later she was confirmed for entry. She sat down on a bench, holding Corona close. "I hope we do well.."

Hanase pranced into the Contest hall, coming in a bit after her Travel partner Jessa. She was eager to enter the contest, and Prince, who was situated on her arm, and Melody, who was following behind her, were also just as eager as their trainer. For a moment, Hanase would have to refrain herself from speakign her usual french.
"Ah, Madam Joy? I would like to sign up for the contest they are holding, please. My name is Hanase Waters." Hanase said politely, patting Prince on his head.

Oh, oh, oh. Nervous, nervous! He was so nervous! Azel had just about frayed the ribbon he wore around his wrist into shreds from worrying it so much as he milled about outside of the pokemon center, waiting for the contest signups to begin. He was not the only one here either. It seemed like the entire world had turned out to compete in this contest, though it was probably only because he was so unused to such things. This was his very first contest! A knot formed in his stomach as he heard the click of the door unlocking, and there was a mad dash for the door from the crowd. Well, he wasn't in that much of a hurry! He waited outside for several minutes while people slowly began to trickle back out of the center, looking totally self satisfied.
Finally, though, there was no way he could stall anymore. So he took a deep breath and moved into the line. It was amazing how Nurse Joy could retain her smile and good cheer in the face of such a mob. When it was his turn, he looked at the woman sheepishly. My name is Azel Enyi, Nurse Joy," the boy told her, holding out his pokedex for proof. "This is my first contest. I heard you would need to register me into the contest circle or something?"
The red headed nurse just smiled at him, took the pokedex, and in a moment handed it back to him along with his contest card, telling him he was all registered, and good luck in the contest. Whew! Thank goodness that was over.

Okay. Breath, just remember to breath. The contest hall was already quite crowded with spectators and to-be competitors when Aidan strode into the colorful building. Luckily enough the line to register was no longer too long, probably due to the fact he was running a bit late.
"Pst-!"
Aidan spun around at the voice, smiling when he noticed it was his sister, Nadia who was trying to grab his attention. "Just in case!" she beamed as she threw something his way.
His nerves almost got to him, but Aidan managed to catch the oncoming object, fumbling only slightly. His grin grew a bit wider when he realized it was Freya's pokeball. What a great sister he had.
Spinning around, Aidan realized he had now reached the front of the line. He smiled at Nurse Joy, surprised he had finally made it to his first contest.
"Hi, I'd like to register please!" He grinned. "The name is Aidan Hollands."

Holy Magikarp. HOLY MAGIKARP. Everyone in the Contest Hall had reason to be nervous, worry about their performances, the condition of their pokemon, what moves to use, and so on, but Allie felt and looked like one of the worst ones off. He was frantically trying to groom her Totodile in a last minute prep, the poor blue creature blinking up at her with confused maroon eyes. She knew that her feelings conveyed over to the other pokemon, but... she couldn't help it! Such a crowd, so little time! She'd nearly forgotten about having to sign up in her attempt to prepare, and on the last second, she rushed up to Nurse Joy, barely managing to hand over her pokedex and get a card in return.
"Alenai is my name, ma'am..." she mumbled, managing not to stutter."

having all the entries taken in, Nurse Joy got up from the desk and moved backstage, giving a note to an umbreon. The umbreon ran to it's trainer, Varaia's EmCee Obsidian, and the woman nodded, putting on her headset and turning it to a channel hooked into the intercom system.
"Attention everyone, all coordinators backstage please! The contest is about to begin! Get your pokemon ready and let's have some fun!" She said with pep, turning off the intercom channel and getting ready to announce the contest. She walked out to center stage as the seats filled, raising her hands.
"And welcome to another exciting contest here in the Varaia region! We are in the breezy town of Gustella, and the wind is picking up! Let's meet our judges. Gustella Towns very own Nurse Joy!"
"It's an honor to be here!" Said the pink-haired woman with a smile.
"The head of the contest committee, Mr. Contesta!"
"I`m looking forward to all the combinations." The man nodded as he adjusted himself, ready to pass judgement.
"And the President of the Pokemon Fan club, Mr. Sukizo!"
"Remarkible!" Said the short man with an empty look. Obsidian smiled and stepped back.
"And I`m your host, Obsidian! Our coordinators are all ready to give you a fantastic show, so in the words of my cousins, let's geeeeeeeeeeeeet busy!" She said as the crowd roared in ecstasy. What kinds of combinations would the coordinators come up with in this contest?

The waiting was torture. Absolute and utter torture. And he was near the beginning of the contest! Azel could only imagine what it would be like to wait until the final few competitors to get to try out your combinations. He had a feeling that if it was him at the end of the list, he would likely have lost all confidence in himself after being forced to watch all of the beautiful and brilliant acts. So in a way it was a blessing to the boy that he was going so soon in his first contest.
But the waiting was torture!
It seemed like he checked the capsules that were attached to his pokeballs. He readjusted the seals yet again, making sure that the opening would be the best it could be. He'd hate to have lost precious points just because of a bad opening due to loose seals. But yes, it seemed that both of the seals he had attached to each of the balls he would use were just fine. There would be no trouble from them.
Finally, finally, after what seemed like an eternity, though it was really only a few short minutes, Obsidian was calling his name. The whoops and hollers that erupted throughout the arena were for him. The adrenaline rush was something that he knew he would get addicted to, just as soon as his stomach stopped trying to escape through his throat. A few heartbeats passed as he twisted the pokeballs in his hands, waiting for the expectant hush to fall over the crowd.
When the silence fell, it seemed as if the entire contest fell away with it. As he lifted the balls that held his companions, Azel felt once more like he was simply practicing out in the field, just like they had done everyday. A huge grin lit his face, and his body relaxed from the absolute rigid body his tense muscles had been holding him in.
"Tai! Mimi! It's your time to shine!"
And just like that, it had begun. Two bright pinpricks of white emerged from the balls that hovered in the air, forming amongst a shower of tiny purple petals and a fountain of blue bubbles.
One of the forms dropped straight to the ground, landing on it's hind legs as the white light formed itself into a bayleef. He cheered and twisted around in a little dance, using the leaf on his head to pop a few of the bubbles. The other began a quick circle in the air, taking the petals with it as it moved until the lugia that appeared seemed to leave a trail of flowers behind her while she flew. After a few seconds, the flowers faded, and the lugia landed with a flurry of wings next to the bayleef.
"Good job guys! Now, let's get this show on the road. Tai! Use poison powder!"
"Bay!" he chirped, slowly swinging his leaf around. It quickly picked up speed until a thick film of the purple powder floated in the air above the arena.
"Mimi! Use your weatherball, then immediately use whirlwind!"
The lugia opened her mouth, letting out a tremendous roar as an orange ball formed. Thanks to the sunny weather outside, this weatherball happened to take the form of fire. The ball launched towards the floating powder with a quick flick of the lugia's head, and a heartbeat later, it was followed by a powerful gust of wind.
The fiery weatherball collided with the poison powder, creating a shapeless orange aurora. When it was hit by the carefully crafted whirlwind however, the burning powder was quickly pushed into the form of a traditional firework, complete with the falling tails that dropped through the air before eventually fading into nothing.
"Good! Again! Whirlwind first this time!"
Tai once released a flurry of purple powder above the contest floor, and this time the whirlwind formed the powder before the weatherball hit it, causing the powder to explode out in to form of a pokeball, before it too faded in the way that fireworks do.
Azel released a breath he didn't realize he had been holding as the pokeball firework faded. Good! It had gone exactly as they had practiced. A feeling of exhilaration flooded him as he bounded forward into the small space between Mimi and Tai. He bowed first to the judges, Tai's front legs bending to lower himself in a bow of his own, and the lugia dipping her head low to the three who would decide their fate. Then they turned to the crowd and repeated the process before returning to the waiting room.
Oh, great. More waiting. Pokemon Used: Lugia "Mimi" Bayleef "Tai" Moves Used: Poison Powder Whirlwind Weatherball - Fire

Aidan watched the monitor in awe as the first coordinator to take the stage, Azel, finished his absolutely breathtaking round. He was stunned by the sheer talent the trainer and pokemon shared. Dumbfounded and extremely jittery he stood and adjusted the vest Nadia had given him for what must have been the millionth time that minute. He ran his fingers through his pulled back hair, which was definitely an improvement on his normally wild locks. Reaching for the two pokeballs necessary for this round, he took one last deep breath, then strode through the curtains leading to the main stage.
Immediately, the blinding lights and roar of applause caught Aidan off guard. Everything was so overwhelming. He didn't know why he thought he could do this, why he thought he was cut out to be a coordinator and not a trainer like his sister-!
Nadia.
She was up there in the crowd somewhere, cheering him on, wishing him the best of luck, confident in his skills to succeed. Aidan had been through a lot with his twin, and after all this time she was still around rooting him on. With that reassuring thought Aidan's nerves vanished, there presence no longer noticeable as he stood excited and proud, ready to show Gustella what he could do.
"Showtime guys! Give it your all!"
A flash of white seemed to light up the entire stage as the pokeballs flew high into the air. As seals began to activate there was a small 'pop' and orange petals began to float downwards spiraling when they came into contact with the yellow stars that had just exploded from both pokeballs as well. Upon one of these stars was a small, glowing shape that squeaked happily when she leapt from the star, posing with her arms above her headed as she landed upon the ground with a spin. A mere moment later another small glowing shape landed in her outstretched paws, and thus Meri and Enki had taken the stage.
Aidan grinned in relief as the last of the orange petals fell to the ground and the stars faded away into faint, sparkling light. Things had started off without a hitch.
"Fantastic you two! Alright Enki, start things off with Harden!"
The Seedot began to glow in Meri's arms, radiating a silver light that reflected off the remaining stardust in a lovely sort of way.
"Great, now Meri us Scald!"
"Osha!" Meri lofted Enki into the air as high as she could before taking a small pirouette and shooting scald in an upwards fountain. The steaming stream of water caught Enki in his fall, keeping the Seedot aloft as he continued to glow silver. As the scalding water continued to heat up, the glow on Enki began to grown brighter and brighter, now reflecting of the water that was sprinkling to the ground.
"Alright Meri, up the flow with some flair and Enki use Bide!"
Meri complied almost immediately, beginning to spin carefully around in circles as she heavily increased the amount of water sprouting up around Enki. Soon the water was cascading down around him as he sunk down slighting into the fountain's center, his bide now adding to his glow. As he continued to take the brunt of the water attack, bide's power grew considerably, making Enki's glow shine through steaming geyser, despite the fact he was now completely submerged.
Aidan could barely contain himself. This was going better than he expected. Any second now, he thought eagerly to himself.
And at that exact thought Enki's bide reached it's peak, and released a wave of silver energy, exploding the geyser into shimmering steam and mist. The Seedot let out a cheerful squeak as he spiraled downwards into Meri's once again outstretched arms. The remained in said position till the twinkling water all but evaporated, leaving nothing more than the faintest glowing fog hanging about the contest hall.
Enki jumped from Meri's arms and both pokemon took a small bow as Aidan approached them from behind, doing the same. Then, unable to contain himself he gave the crowd an eager wave. Scooping up both his pokemon, already champions in his eyes he went back through the curtains it seemed he had only just emerged from, proud of what he had been able to pull off.

A.. a Lugia? Alenai tried to swallow down the nervous lump that had grown in her throat as she watched Azel's appeals on the big screen back stage, her thumbs twiddling idly. His routine was so creative.. maybe if she was lucky she would get in the top eight, but at this point, who knew? And then there was Aidan's performance. He used a technique similar to the one she had planned, and although it wasn't identical, Allie still wasn't sure what to do. Would she get docked points for having something nearly the same? She'd been staring off into space when Obisdian called her name not once, but twice, the girl roused forward by a random passerby during her nervous shuffle forward.
Her walk forward and wave to the crowd had her horrendously shaken up, and as she waited for the terrible silence, she stared down at her pokeballs. Her pokemon would help her through this.. they would!
"Alright! Ty, Levi, let's g-go!" she announced, managing to hold any shakiness back until the end of her sentence. In three shakes of a Mareep's tail, the two pokeballs were thrown up into the air, what appeared to be a thin expanse of fog and tiny origami birds showering over the field. Through the mist, two small forms could be seen doing a single front flip and landing back to back beside each other, and when the seal effects dissipated, both Ty and Levi were beaming at the crowd, each of them holding one of the birds in their paws. Yay! Allie nearly jumped up and down in excitement as the pre-performance went through, but she kept herself together and nodded at her friends instead.
"Time to get this show on the road, guys. Levi, use Charm and then follow through with Thundershock. Quickly!"
"Pichu pi!" The little yellow pokemon, with wide, glistening eyes, began hopping up and down, nearly squeeing as his arms waved about. Almost instantly multitudes of hearts varying in size flourished before the crowd and judges, Charm taking effect before sparks buzzed from his cheeks. Only a moment passed between each attack as the Pichu shot tiny zaps of electricity upward, the current creating a sparkly cloak around each heart before they popped into nothingness. Dozens of the pink hearts came to their end that way, but it made an adorable effect in the air and rained small shiny particles down upon Levi. As he giggled, Allie cleared her throat, Ty focusing on her as she did.
"Good, now use Water Gun like we practiced Ty!" Focusing only on her pokemon helped the girl through her nervousness a lot, although it was apparent that she was shaking on the spot. Nodding, Ty stepped forward and pointed his nose towards the sky, water shooshing upward and creating a small fountain over him. He increased and decreased the pressure several times, allowing the jet to rise and fall, the waves pouring in varying amounts to create pretty ripples amongst the surface. As he kept the stream and himself steady, Allie ushered Levi forward.
"Do your routine one more time!" she asked, smiling as she noticed the majority of the people were looking at her appeals and not herself. Levi skipped forward, more than happy to use Charm one more time beside the Totodile. As a result, the hearts were swooped up into the current of the Water Gun and sprayed upward, Pichu throwing his paws out in the traditional 'blowing kisses' fashion to send more hearts upward. They bobbed in the water, and while some slipped down to the ground and popped from impact, the majority of them were splashing about at the top of the fountain, Ty remaining calm and lowering the stream of water slightly as he waited for Levi's final attack. A flash of his cheeks and a small bolt of electricity shot up the Water Gun, creating a dazzling current against the water's surface. Ty watched carefully and suddenly added tremendous pressure to the fountain, water shooting up higher into air than before as the electricity met the hearts. Tiny pops and sparks sprayed everywhere above the water, and Allie stood proud during her 'Shocked Heart Fountain' display. The arena seemed to be filled with sparks and droplets of water, as well as sparklies from the popping hearts. That turned out just as good as she'd hoped!
The final effect lasted a little while before Ty cut off the attack and the three of them bowed, the coordinator scooping up her pokemon and scuttling off the platform with her eyes pinched shut in nervousness and anxiety. Hopefully she did well, but.. she really had no idea.. the performance before hers was so amazing!

Jessa was wowed by the appeals that had come before her. She could feel her confidence plummet with each person that went ahead. Corona could sense this drop in happiness in her trainer. She nuzzled the girl and smiled. "Don't worry! We've practiced for this, remember?"
The red head nodded and recalled her Litwick into the Pokeball. She readjusted the seals on the capsule before walking on stage. She got in front of the crowd and her knees began to shake. She then steeled herself and tossed the Pokeballs into the air. "Come on out, Corona, Basil! Time to wow 'em!"
The balls opened in a flash of light, blue petals and purple fog bursting out alongside one another. The petals floated slowly down from the ceiling as her Bulbasaur and her Litwick posed in front of the judges. Jessa smiled and made a lavish gesture with her arms. "Corona, Start with Minimize! Basil, you use Power Whip, like we trained!"
Corona cooed as she started to shimmer and shrink. The sparkles were brightly visible through the purple fog, causing a unique shimmer in the air. Basil extended his whips to launch Corona into the air. She giggled as she flew way high into the air, where the blue petals were still falling. Jessa grinned. It was working perfectly! "Now use Heat Wave, Corona!" The little Litwick did a twirl mid-air before sending out a pulse of orange and yellow flames. The petals were ignited as they descended to the floor.
As Corona fell, Jessa was ready for round two. "Again Basil, Use Power whip to launch Corona into the air!" In perfect time, Corona landed on Basil's whips to be flung skyward once more. She did a few twists and turns, giggling and waving to the judges and audience. The red haired girl clapped happily. "Now use Heat Wave one more time! As you descend this time~" The small Litwick came down quickly, unleashing another pulse of orange-yellow flame right as she landed on Basil's head. It made for a stunning finish. Jessa and her Pokemon bowed to the judges before heading back into the waiting room.

Hanase sighed gently as Jessa finished her appeal. All the Co-ordinators before her had done a beautiful job. She took more short breaths as she realized she was now next. She quickly slipped Melody and Prince’s Pokeballs into the ball capsules and made sure the seals were on tightly, her confidence faltering slightly for a moment. No, she’d do fine, she had too.
Hanase walked out onto the stage with as much of a calm composure as she could keep. She couldn’t panic in the face of a crowd! She was going to be a great Ringleader one day, and she held herself well to that promise she had made to herself. The wannabe circus leader took a deep breath. Jessa was here, and Conneko had promised her he’d be watching, somewhere, even if she couldn’t see him. Hanase looked at the crowd, smiling before slipping the top hat off her head and bowing.
She reached into the hat with one of her gloved hands, pulling the two Pokeballs out into her palm. She then swung her hat back onto her head and closed her eyes a moment. Melody and Prince were ready for this, she knew, they would make her so proud. Softly, Hanase smiled once again before calling out:
“Maintenant mes chéris, let’s show everyone what you can do, Melody, Prince!” She threw the two Ball-capsuled Poke balls into the air. As the two balls burst open, there was a giant flurry of black rose petals that enveloped the stage. Melody spun around in a graceful corkscrew style, some of the petals following her in a neat, light, tornado like line as she finally reached the floor, letting her dainty feet touch it gently.
Prince became even more visible as the small flurry cleared even more. He was falling from the air, but it looked like he was in control of himself, he made contact with Melody’s body and coiled around her gently, resting his head on her shoulder as he was now tucked neatly around her. For a small effect, Hanase paused for a few seconds before calling out to the both of them.
“Maintenant, get into formation!” Prince uncoiled himself quickly from Melody and allowed her to daintily jump to the side, floated there while Prince now slithered into her place. He waited for Hanase’s command patiently, and finally, it came.
“Incinerate my darling Prince!” Prince raised his head towards the ceiling and his body began to glow a bright orange color, flecks of flaming light bouncing off his scales as he unleashed a steady stream of fire aimed towards the roof. It didn’t quite touch the roof, as the top of the stream kind of ebbed into a small flower formation.
“Melody!” Melody quickly obeyed her trainer, floating to the top of Prince’s incineration formation. She gathered her energy, making her own body glow a bright green, while she bided her time waiting for Hanase to call out the full order.
“Hidden Power!” Melody released at least four balls of green light, which she manipulated to float downwards around the fire, and they danced gracefully to where prince was waiting at the base of the incinerate.
Melody, still aglow at the top, formed the balls around the base of the incinerate where Prince was into a box around the base, and as soon as Hanase gave her the command, she let her control go, and she stopped glowing as all the balls dropped to the ground instantly and burst into plenty of sparkles that glittered in the light of the flames. Prince slowly began to dim his power, and as the jet of fire came down, Melody came down slowly after it.
Finally, Prince’s attack diminished completely and Melody was standing by him. Now, the small glittering sparkles and a couple of flames danced around them, and Hanase called out her final move.
“Melody, Round!” Melody let out a light screech, careful not to hurt the audiences ears, and a red and green shimmer of light eminated around her and Prince, finally illuminating the glitter even more, and as she ended her final attack, everything slowly vanished into the background as Hanase came to stand between her two Pokemon. She tipped her Tophat to the Audience while prince and Melody bowed, and together the three went off stage together.

As the last trainer returned backstage, Obsidian bounced towards the center of the stage, turning on her mic. "Wow what great performances those were! We've seen a lot of performances here today, but only eight of the coordinators you saw here will make it to the next round! So who is going on? We`ll see in just a few moments." She said as she returned to the judges. The three people talked while Obsidian watched and the crowd broke into whispers, sharing who they hoped would make it onto next round. "...that lugia trainer will make it for sure..." "...that Bulbasaur is tough to handle a hot pokemon like litwick." "What about the Oshawott and Seedot?" "Who cares? I LOVE Dratini, I hope he and Meloetta move on!" "I think the totodile was simply wonderful!" These whispers and many others worked their way through the crowd as the coordinators anxiously waited for the results. After some time, Obsidian walked back to the center stage below the large screen and clapped for attention. "The Judges have made their decision! These eight coordinators move on to the next stage!" She said, pointing up at the screen with both index fingers. [ "Congratulations to these eight coordinators! We are looking forward to your battles!" Said Obsidian as they moved on. Many battles were fought, but one by one all the opponents fell, leaving only two coordinators. Obsidian came onto the stage and waved her hands up to rev the crowd. "And now it is down to these last two coordinators! They will have 5 minutes on the clock to whittle down their opponents points. The coordinator with the highest score at the end of five minutes wins! Likewise, if your pokemon manage to knock out your opponents pokemon they also win. Ready? Let's geeeeeeeet busy!" She said, backing away just as the clock began.

Azel was giddy. Absolutely giddy. Not only had he made it into the top eight, he had made it to the final round! An almost hysterical laugh bubbled up from his chest, escaping his lips before he could clamp them closed as he stood across the battle floor from his opponent. He remembered the girl from the first round. She'd had a bulbasaur and a litwick, and had done just a good a job as everyone else had in this competition. He'd been so worked up and concentrating on his battles after that, though, that he just didn't know what pokemon she would use against him.
Not that it mattered. He already had his team ready. The boy lifted the pokeballs that he held in both hands and gave each a little kiss as the timer began. Now, the final battle began.
"Takeru! Kari! It's your time to shine!" Tossing the balls in the air, each exploded in a shower of yellow and green electric shocks. As the sparks faded, they revealed two small pokemon, each dancing and twirling, full of energy.
And each had small balls of electricity formed around their hands, waving them around like pompoms as they cheered excitedly. The plusle's poms were yellow, while the minun, who was green rather than blue, had blue poms. They continued to cheer until finally they touched their tails together, causing a flurry of electricity to dance between them.
"Plusle!" "Minun!" They were ready to go! Plusle "Takeru" : 29/29 Minun "Kari" : 29/29

Jessa was floored. She had done it. She made it to the final battle. She was one step away from winning her first ribbon. However, there was the matter of her opponent. He'd done a stellar job at appeals, coming in 2nd whereas she was 8th. Battles were not her strong suit, but she couldn't give up now!
She only had two Pokemon to choose from. Jessa held out her Pokeballs, pressing the buttons to release her two Pokemon. "Corona, Basil, take the stage again!"
The two Pokemon burst from their respective balls, ready to fight. Corona stared down the Plusle and Minun, not afraid in the slightest. "I could eat you guys for breakfast!" Jessa sighed and pointed at Plusle and Minun "Basil, use Power Whip on Plusle! And Corona, use Astonish on Minun!"
Basil was up to attack first, the sunny weather giving him a chance to move a little quicker. He cried out and lashed his whips at Takeru..only to have the little thing move aside before he could strike.
[RESULT: Miss]
Now it was Corona's turn to try. She had to focus. She closed her eyes and then made her face turn all grim and scary, hoping to throw her opponent off..only to fail just as badly as her partner. Wow, this wasn't going well.. "Eep.."
[RESULT: Miss]
