There was never a more strange traveling party than that of Crescendo and Lani. Whilst Crescendo walked ahead, talking to his Snivy, Lani was far behind, trying his best to ignore the feelings he felt for Abeon. Crescendo took out his flute and had begun playing a song, Snivy swaying to the music contently. A dark pair of eyes watched them from the shadows, waiting for the right opportunity to strike. By this time Crescendo had stopped to rest, Lani still keeping a fair amount of distance. Snivy got down and was exploring the area while Crescendo turned to Lani. "So, what was all that back there?" He asked, petting his flute. Suddenly a scream tore out, and Crescendo looked up and jumped up rapidly. "Snivy! Where are you!?" He called, looking for his pokemon. "Sni!" Cried a voice in front of him. Crescendo looked up to see a black pokemon staring menacingly at Crescendo, Snivy under it's paw. The trainer pulled out his pokedex to scan it, holding it up to the pokemon. "Houndour, the Dark Pokemon. Houndour travel in well-organized packs, communicating through a series or barks and howls." It said. Crescendo put the pokedex away and gritted his teeth, pulling out Snivy's pokeball. "Snivy return!" He cried. A red beam came from the pokeball, pulling snivy out from under the houndour. This seemed to anger the pokemon as he growled, opening his mouth to throw a series of flames at the two boys. "Dou!" It barked, getting ready to attack. Crescendo turned to Lani desperately. "Snivy needs to rest! It's all up to you!" He told him. Gender: Male Level: 5 Ability: Flash Fire Moves: Ember, Leer, Howl Hit Points: 15

Why was he being followed? Why? And yes, he did think of it as himself being followed, despite the fact that he was now trailing behind Cresendo. After all, he had left first, and begun heading in this direction before the other boy had. That meant that Lani was the one being followed, and not the other way around. It all made perfect sense. Even if it was annoying to have to listen to that boy and his flute. At the moment he wanted to rip the thing from his hands and toss it into oblivion to stop the noise.
At his side, Abeon had finally calmed down a bit, though he still refused to go back into his ball. Lani doubted the little shinx would ever be a pokeball type. Right now that was fine. He didn't mind letting the little one bound around at his feet, but he wasn't sure whoever picked him up from the center later would be. He hoped the trainer who grabbed this little shinx was good to him.
It had been a few hours, and he, no not they, had stopped for a break. Abeon was stretched out in his lap, and Lani was munching on a sandwhich from his bag when there was a scream. The boy looked up curiously, but the shinx did little more than twitch an ear. After all, the scream had come from some small distance away, and didn't concern him or his. Or so he thought, at least, until he heard the fire dog letting loose with a flame that was directed at... His trainer!
Abeon growled and was out of his boy's lap in an instant, charging directly for the bigger black form. "Shinx-inx!" he snapped as he collided with the other in a well formed tackle.

Houndour cried out as the tackle connected, sending it sprawling. He snarled at the shinx, leaping at him at a great speed. He opened his mouth and unleashed more flame sparks, aiming them at the Shinx.
"Dour!" He roared as his Ember approached.

Abeon was not to be outdone, or intimidated, by this crazy little houndour. Well. It was bigger than he was, but that was beside the point! So when another burst of flame was sent his way, he dodged out of the way, barely missing getting his fur singed. Houndour may have been bigger, but shinx was faster! He growled again and, after sliding to a stop, he aimed another attack at the black form. No prodding needed from his trainer. How dare this houndour threaten Lani! Shinx would show him, yes he would!

The tackle attack hit houndour head on in the gut, causing it to cough and fall over. He struggled to get back up, determined not to lose to a miserable runt like a shinx. Houndour gritted its teeth and sent out a small stream of sparks from it's mouth, aiming for Abeon's chest.

Lani had been paying only minor attention to the ongoing battle up until that point. After all, the runt of a shinx was a pretty good battler on on his own, without any direction from anyone. Still, when a yelp that sounded different that the houndour's growls, Lani glanced up from his sandwhich. Just in time to see a flame land it's hit on the little one. "Abeon!" he called without thinking, jumping up. The shinx was already gearing up for another attack, and from the looks of that houndour, so was it. He knew perfectly well that his order to return wouldn't be obeyed, so there was only one thing to do. As quickly as he could manage, Lani fished out a pokeball and tossed it at the weakened houndour.
"Abeon, get back here!" he snapped as the black creature disappeared into the ball and it began to rock.

It rocked once, twice, three times before the pokeball ringed, signaling the successful capture. Crescendo smiled at Lani before turning to the pokeball in his hand, pressing the button to release his tired Snivy. The grass snake breathed heavily as he lay somewhat limp in his trainer's arms, and Crescendo lifted him up to his face to inspect him. "Are you ok Snivy?" He asked. Snivy gave a weak smile and nodded, wiggling out of Crescendo's grip to land by his feet. Only the weak were carried by their trainers. Crescendo chuckled as he turned back to Lani with a nod. "Great capture. is your Shinx ok?" He asked him, genuinely concerned for the electric cub. Pokemon Name: Houndour Gender: Male Pokemon Personality: Agressive, determined, greedy. Lani sighed, pushing a hand through his hair, which revealed the dark scar normally hidden. That... had been close. Glancing down at the shinx, he couldn't help but smirk. "Down boy," Lani muttered. "I'm safe now. Thank you." Abeon glanced up at his trainer. Seeing the smile, the shinx relaxed, once more doing the full body tail wag that he was so fond of. The boy turned to Crescendo. "He's fine. We'd better get to the next city. Your snivy needs a pokemon center. Grass types don't do well when their encounters with fire are left unattended." As he spoke, Abeon bounded forward, picking up the pokeball that now housed houndour and brought it back to his trainer.
He was a helpful shinx, yes he was!

Crescendo nodded as he turned back towards the path, his Snivy by his side.
"I agree. I think Gustella is this way. You good to walk Snivy?" He asked the grass snake. Snivy turned his nose up and walked ahead, leading the way.
"Snivy." He said smugly. Crescendo chuckled as he dutifully followed, looking back at Lani.
"Coming?" He asked.
