Again, how helpful this chick was being. But Edric was too tired to really start to argue. He just wanted to get to Gustella and sit down for a bit, taking the time to figure out what the hell he had gotten himself into. He'd be quite pissed if he couldn't pull this whole breeding thing off.
No. No, don't think like that. In his frustration Edric hit his forehead, then ran his fingers almost angrily through his hair, pulling out small pieces of twigs as he found them.
"Look," he started up. "It'd do me a great deal of good if you'd introduce yourself so I could yanno, converse. I mean," he tried to compose himself yet again. "I'm pretty positive you're headed to Gustella. Obviously I am too. So, it kinda looks like we'll be seeing each other for a bit."

"She scowled, refusing to even look at the man. Edric. What kind of name wasEdric?sounded like his parents couldn't decide if they wanted to call him Ed or Eric. Everything about this man seemed to rub her the wrong way. "Jack." she said shortly. "and that there is Crimson and this one," she gestured to the little black fox, who was still growling, in her arms, "is Scarlet."
"Rua zo zorua." please can i bite him. Stupid arrogant man. "Zo zo rua." Thinking i would ever listen to someone like him. Little Larvitar you have my sympathies.

Crescendo looked back and forth between Jack and Edric and sweatdropped. Well, this was awkward. Skarmory could pierce the tension with his drill peck, it was that thick. Crescendo saw Edric run his hand through his hair, pulling out twigs, apparently having awoken from a nap. Crescendo leapt down from Skarmory, disturbing a very unhappy Snivy as the grass snake climbed back up, smacking Crescendo with his tail and settling on his shoulder. Crescendo glared at the grass type before patting his skarmory's back.
"Well, uh, we're going to Gustella indeed. If you are tired, Skarmory can carry you while you rest." He offered, unaware of how Jack would react to that offer. He looked back at her and gave her a charming smile, hoping to assure her it was ok.

Jack shot Crescendo a glare. He couldn't be serious could he? Yes, yes he was. D@#$. "You can't be serious." Opps how to rectify this.
"I mean yeah, Skarmory is strong but still three people. That seems a little unreasonable. And all the way to Gustella. You are asking him to carry another two-hundred pounds at least. Even if we had Crimson, Scarlet, and Snivy in their balls it doesn't cancel out the weight he would add."

Edric's mood was beginning to elevate slightly when introductions were finally complete, but it plummeted when Jack spoke up again after Crescendo's offer. It wasn't like he was going to accept it anyways, he didn't want to be too forward.
But seriously? 200 pounds? Edric didn't know how to respond to that. "Uhm. Jack, right? I don't weigh 200 pounds. Meema over there doesn't weigh that much," he added, gesturing over to the large pokemon who was now looking at both Snivvy and Scarlet curiously. He took a moment to sigh and quickly rub his eyes, adjusting his glasses back into place when he was done. "But you're fine," he eventually continued. It had been obvious Jack's explanation was an afterthought trying to cover for herself and Crescendo was just being polite. "I can still walk. Thanks, though." For once, the gratitude was sincere.
"But yanno." Why did he have such difficulties being affable?! "I figure we're probably walking together."

Jack stared at him with disbeliefe. "What are your bones made of? Straw? All my brothers weighed more by the time they hit sixteen. You have to be older than that." Jack jumped off the Skarmory to get a better look at Edric. She even pulled at the sleeves of his jacket to see how skinny his arms were. "Then again... my brothers have to pack around a lot more muscle then you do. I retract my statement you weigh less then two hundred pounds. Maybe Skarmory could carry all three of us. Though I'd still feel bad about making him."
Her mood fell at the thought of her brothers. D#^$ she'd been doing good about not thinking of them. She squared her shoulders and shook off the thought. "Well I'm going to keep moving you guys can keep talking if you want, but I want to reach Gustella before nightfall." After calling Crimson and Scarlet to her she set off down the road without waiting to see if the males would follow.

"Like I said," Edric snapped flinching his arm away in surprise at the physical contact. "I wasn't gonna make him carry me." He paused, Jack's words bringing up memories of his own home life. He quickly tried to suppress them. "S'not my fault if I never needed an excess of muscle." He mumbled as an afterthought.
As he had been taking Meema had apparently walked back over to stand by hisside and she was now poking him gently on the shoulder. Edric glanced up at her and almost staggered backwards when she dropped the still sleeping Adir into his arms. She smiled at him and adjusted his arms as he just looked at her in exasperated confusion. When she was pleased she patted Edric's head and then began to lumber along slowly after Jack.
Edric sent a backwards glance to Crescendo. "Yeah. It's probably good idea to get to Gustella prior to the sun setting."

Crescendo stared at the two with wide eyes as the tension grew. Ok, this was NOT going as well as he hoped. Thinking quickly, Crescendo leapt back onto Skarmory's back and gently kicked the metal birds sides, causing him to open his wings and fly above the goup, landing in front of jack with a thud.
"Now hold on one Jumpluff-picking-minute. I do not know what is going on with you two, but tension like this is not good for your pokemon. Can we not at least TRY to get along?" He asked, pulling out his flute. He played a soothing song to help ease his new friends and then smiled warmly at them.
"You two already have enough in common as it is. Why not try to work with that instead of dwelling on what happened in the past?" He asked, dismounting skarmory. The metal bird nodded in agreement and opened his wings, screeching loudly at the group.
"Skaaaaaaaaaaaaar!" He screamed at them. Crescendo sighed and pat his pokemon's side.
"He's been known to kidnap people who upset, just so you know..." He warned as the pokemon turned back to Meema.
"Skarmory?" Does this happen often? He asked her, shaking his head to calm himself down while Crescendo stepped between the two breeders, walking with them towards their destination.

Edric very well might have fled the situation had Adir not been in his arms. The small pokemon was heavy and making it hard for Edric to balance let alone run away. That Skarmory was terrifying when angered and Edric would prefer to never hear the steel-type screech again. Whatever good Crescendo's song had done to soothe his mood had been very quickly undone.
But pausing a moment to take in what Crescendo had said helped a bit. Although Edric did have to role his eyes at the 'enough in common' part. He didn't know how much of that was true. But he supposed he could try a bit harder to be cordial. Not that he was trying to be an ass previously. And it wasn't his fault that Jack had been so keen on being rude this time around.
No. No. Dammit there he went again. Sighing Edric slumped down a bit to get a better grip on Adir as Crescendo strode over between Jack and himself. "Sorry," He mumbled, the taste of the word fairly new to his tongue. "Jack." He added as an afterthought. "You too, I guess. Crescendo was it?" Arceus this was difficult. Edric was just kinda stoically rambling on. Satisfied with the amount of embarrassment he was providing for himself he clamped his mouth shut and determinedly looked off in some random direction.
Meema had very much enjoyed the soothing tune's Crescendo had just played, but no doubt Skarmory's screams had unsettled her a bit. The bird pokemon could clearly be quite intimidating when he wanted to be. Gathering herself she gazed over to Skarmory and patted his beak a few times, almost apologetically. "Kangas. Kangaskhan" I haven't known him long. But he does seem constantly agitated.

Jack raised an eyebrow at Crescendo and his Skarmory. Did he really think that that was going to scare me. I have four brothers with lots of scary Pokemon. It's going to take a lot more than that to scare me. Crescendo cleared his throat making it clear that it was her turn to say sorry. After all Edric did. She could too. "Alright, alright, I'm sorry about the way I acted." she looked at Edric and grinned, "Though you have to admit that you didn't give a very good first impression at the lab. Glaring at me for no reason like you did then trying not to honor the first come first serve rule."
with that said she turned her grin on Crescendo. "Jeez Cres you make it sound like we are going to travel our whole journey together."
Crescendo's eye twitched at the nickname. Jack giggled, "You can't expect me to call you Crescendo all the time. It's too much of a mouthful."
She pulled him into a headlock and noogied him. Then took off running as soon as she released him. "Betcha can't catch me!"

Crescendo sweatdropped at Jack as she ran ahead, sighing at her nickname for him. Snivy looked up and his eyes narrowed at the direction she was heading, sitting up and turning to Skarmory. "Snivy!" Stop her! He said to the bird. Skarmory gave him a confused look before flying over to Jack, but he was not fast enough. Jack ran right into a nest of Shroomish and Oddish. The pokemon growled at her angrily, launching a wave of stun spore at her. Before it could reach Jack, Skarmory swooped down and grabbed under her armpits with his talons, pulling her away and back to the group. Behind him, two shroomish and an oddish followed, not through with the trainers just yet as Crescendo pulled out his pokedex. "Shroomish, the Mushroom pokemon. Shroomish is easily angered and will attack those who disturb its nests, which it makes in damp forests. Oddish, the Weed pokemon. Oddish is a nocturnal pokemon, burying its main body in soft ground during the day and sowing seeds at night." Said the pokedex. Crescendo gritted his teeth as Skarmory let Jack down. "Don't think we are going to get out of this without a fight. Jack, Edric, help me! Skarmory, let's go!" He said, directing the metal bird to stand in front of him. "AWWW Shroomish!!!" Jack looked over at her two traveling companions. "I refuse to battle Shroomish!"
"Scarlet show me what you got." The Zorua jumped into the battle scene "Start with Pursuit."Zorua charged at the Oddish.
[RESULT: 8] s
Oddish barely even flinched and immediately fought back with Razor leaf.
[RESULT: Miss] o

"Lucky us." Jack smiled as all of the leaves failed to hit their target, "okay Scarlet time for a Scratch."
[RESULT: 3] s
Oddish flinched but tried a Razor leaf attack again.

"Time to try for A physical attack Scarlet. Show me your Scratch."
[RESULT: 3]
Oddish Started to glow slightly as she used Absorb.

Scarlet flinched that attack was more painful then the last. "That's enough Scarlet. I think we made our point." the Zorua looked back at her trainer confused. the opponent was still standing though. Wasn't she suppose to knock it out? "YOu did good Scarlet. I just don't want you getting hurt any more then you have to."
Scarlet gave her a toothy grin and jumped into her shoulder. With Scarlet satisfied Jack turned to the Oddish. "There is a Pokemon Center in the next town. I can take you there if you like. If you decide that you like traveling with us you can stay. If you don't I promise that I'll take you as close to here as possible when you are healed."
Oddish Looked at her, then Scarlet and finally Crimson. then she nodded.

Edric gave Jack a surprised look as she apologized. "You're the one who slammed the door in my face! And I didn't know about the rule..." Despite his slightly annoyed tone he did finish with the hint of a smile, or whatever would be considered a smile in Edric's case.
He was actually considered chasing after Jack after her sudden outburst, but the surprise appearance obviously delayed said decisions. At Crescendo's words he spun around, attempting to get Meema's attention, Adir being still fast asleep. Edric didn't want to risk waking him.
Meema looked Edric's way, already knowing what was to go down. She gave him a smile and a nod before stomping forward to take a place next to Skarmory.
"Alright guys! We'll take one of the Shroomish!" Edric called out. "Meema, wanna try a Drain Punch?"
Meema almost chuckled at Edric's indecision. He had been pretty loud about everything prior to this point. Moving forward she took aim to punch the smaller pokemon before her. "Khan!" Sorry dear!
[RESULT: 8]
Edric watched as the little pokemon went flying. "Ok! Ok! That's enough Meema!" He jogged over to her side as she approached the Shroomish. The poor thing's head seemed to be spinning. "Kangaskhan?" Dear are you all right? Edric moved in for a closer look as Meema gently picked the Shroomish up.
"Sorry about that little guy," Edric began, gazing over Meema's shoulder at the weakened pokemon in her arms. Huh. Edric was getting better at this apology thing already. "But you were the one who made the first move. But, um..." was he seriously conversing with this Shroomish? He began to stop but Meema nodded at him, appearing to urge him to finish.
"Uh, I guess, I was saying you could join us, if you want?"
"Kangas." It'd be worth your while.

Crescendo paid no mind to his friends as he stared down the shroomish. He clenched his fists as Skarmory braced himself, ready to obey a command the second it was given. The shroomish began running toward them and Crescendo gritted his teeth. "Drill peck! Hurry!" He said as Skarmory ran, its beak seeming to sharpen. It leapt towards the shroomish and began spinning, aiming carefully. [RESULT: 6] Super effective, +1 The attack connected, sending the shroomish flying through the air. It would not be deterred though, and got right back up, running towards Skarmory with a tackle attack. [RESULT: 6] Not very effective, -1 Shroomish launched itself at Skarmory, but he easily bat it away, hovering for another command. "Swift!" Said Crescendo, and Skarmory powered up its wings, flapping rapidly and sending out a wave of stars toward shroomish. [RESULT: 7] Having hit its mark, the shroomish did not have much to go on. Crescendo reached into his pack, pulling out a pokeball. Making it bigger, he launched the ball towards the mushroom pokemon. The pokeball opened up, converting shroomish into a red beam of energy and bringing it into itself. It landed on the ground, shaking once, twice, three times before it pinged, signaling a successful capture. Crescendo smiled as Snivy extended his vines, picking up the pokeball and bringing it back to Crescendo. After making the Oddish comfortable in her bag Jack turned to the boys finding that they too were quick to finish up their battles. She grinned.
Today was a good day no doubt about that. She'd gotten two new partners and had a potential third. Also the big misunderstanding had been cleared up from that morning. She was now traveling with two new humans and getting along with them fairly well.And that was only the new experiences
As for regular old experiences she'd woken up early had a good breakfast and played with Pokemon. Gotten attack by Pokemon and spent most of her day outside. Five main things that happened every day. All without getting injured. Yup today was a good day.
When Skarmory was done battling Jack went over to pet him. "Nice flying there, that was fun."
