Taichi walked into dust town. He started looking for the lab and found it quickly after all this town wasn't that big. He stopped at the door and looked at the building with determination. "This is where my journey starts, i'll make you proud mom." He said with determination and went and knocked on the door of the lab.

"One moment please!" Conifer called, making her way to the front and opening the door. "Please, come in. Excuse the mess, we've been having some trouble getting some of our Pokemon to behave," she said, ushering Taichi into the lab and towards the back where the starters were eagerly running about in a playpen. Beside them, Ranny sat patiently, watching a Piplup who was standing in the corner closely. "Anyway, these are the Pokemon we have for you to choose from. If none of these appeal to you, then we have mystery balls over here for you to choose from. Trainers and racers are allowed one starter while breeders and coordinators get two," Conifer explained as she stepped back to allow Taichi to choose. |

Taichi looked at all of the starters with contemplation. He looked at all of them with a serious stare and some of the starters fidgeted in nervousness at being looked at with such a serious look. He then looked at the mystery balls thinking hard. He looked at them for a few minutes picking up each one.
With finality in his voice he stated,"As much as I like all of these starters none of them seem right for me i'll take the mystery ball in the center." Picking up the ball in the center.

The pokeball in Taichi's hand opened, releasing the Pokemon inside. The creature began sniffing around curiously before finally noticing her new trainer and scampering over towards him. Staring up at Taichi, she tilted her head to the side, trying to make her eyes as big as she could as she extended a hand for food. "Well, looks like this one's taken a liking to you," Conifer said as the Axew climbed up her trainers leg and onto his shoulder. "When you're ready to go, please take one of these bags. They all come with a supply of items for your journey." Taichi gave the Axew on his shoulder a piercing stare and unlike the other starters it didn't start fidgeting, but gave him a piercing stare right back. This surprised him at first then he smirked at it and gave it a pat on the head and it gave him a grin."I'll call you Pragia what do you think about that?" He questioned it. Pragia gave him a smile and nodded. He picked it up and put Pragia on his head, and she nuzzled into his hair messing it up a little.
He smiled at her, but was quickly broken out of his trance by the professor clearing her throat. He looked back at the professor smirking and glared at her a little. Then he grabbed the first bag and the white pokedex and left without a word with pragia still on his head, going to route 801.
