Mio carefully got off the Swanna, and, with support from the Pokemon, was able to place her feet onto the ground. With a deep inhalation, she looked around, suddenly gaining a confused expression. "W-Woah... This place is...small?". She began to walk forward, curious about the town, but then stopped, embarrased. "Aah! Sorry Swanna!" she said, running back to the Pokemon that had a somewhat sad expression. Mio hugged it's neck, then nuzzled it's face, leaving it with a kiss on the forehead. Giving a pleased, graceful honk, the Swanna nodded and took off, headed back to Torrentia City, her home town.
Stretching, she finally started walking forward, quickly reading over the signs with battling and training tips. Eventually, she met with a rather large building and a sign that read, "Professor Conifer's Laboratory". With a sigh, and a tinge of nervousness, she raised her hand on cautiously, and knocked on the door. "No going back I guess.." she mumbled to herself, bracing herself for what came next.

The door was opened to reveal not the professor but a unique looking blue dog known as a Suicune. The legendary water dog nodded to Mio and lead her inside the building. The building was full of machines, papers and books that were most-likely used for research. Finally the two reached the back of the room where professor Conifer was working, engrossed in her studies, while a group of starter Pokemon played in a near-by play pin. Realizing that the professor had yet to realize the new trainer's arrival, the Suicune gave a bark to get the lady's attention, who suddenly look up to see what was the matter. "What's wrong, Ranny- Oh!" Professor Conifer noticed Mio. "Oh, my. I'm sorry, I was so caught up in my work, I didn't realize I had company. How silly, welcome. She put down her work and got out of her chair. You're here for your starter Pokemon, correct? Well lets get you started then. Professor Conifer walked over to the play pin that contained 6 Pokemon. "These are the starters we currently have available, but if those do not take to your liking we also have 3 special Pokeballs known as Mystery balls. I warn you though, mystery balls can and will contain anything. I have seen a Magikarp to an Arceus come out of these and once you choose a Mystery ball you can not change your mind. Also, breeders and Coordinators are allowed to take two Pokemon, however, trainers and racers may only have one." After showing Mio the Pokemon she then pointed to the items that were laid out on a table near the Pokemon pin. "Along with your starter you also may have a starter bag of your choice, which will contain everything some one will need to start their journey, and a Pokedex." After giving her long speech, Professor Conifer took a moment to breath as she waiting to hear Mio's decision.

Mio was somewhat mesmerized by the Suicune's beautiful appearance, but quickly got herself out of the daze, nodding while the professor spoke. She looked at the Pokemon. "Aww. They're so cute!" she mumbled to herself, looking over them. A bit disappointed that there weren't any duck-like Pokemon. She suddenly remembered that there were mystery balls. A bit overwhelmed with all the choosing, hoping not to make a wrong choice, she politely pointed to the third bag, "Excuse me, ma'am, If it's alright, I'd like to have this bag..." she looked over at the multitude of Pokedexes, "This orange Pokedex.." she paused, and drew in a breath, "I don't mean to sound rude, but would it be alright if I were to pick the third mystery ball as my Pokemon? I-It's not that I don't like the starters but erm..." she trailed off a bit, looking at the Professor a bit lost, hoping she didn't make a bad impression.

Professor Conifer smiled at the young trainer. "Don't worry, your not being rude for wanting a mystery ball. She walked over to the third mystery ball and picked it up, releasing the Pokemon from it's contents. It was clear that whoever was inside was not pleased with being locked up for so long, he showed this by releasing a loud, unhappy quack before pausing and looking around the room. Upon noticing his trainer, he quickly ran over to her and looked up, something about this trainer he liked, he lifted his leak and gave it a quick twirl before giving another quack and looking at Mio awaiting her reaction. "Oh my, what an interesting Pokemon you have there. Well, now that you have everything, I wish you luck on your journey." Professor Conifer said happily with a warm smile. Unable to keep her professionalism over how cute the Farfetch'D was, she gave a short squeal and picked him up, hugging him moderately tightly. Realizing she may have just embarrassed herself, she set down her new Pokemon carefully and slightly smiled, "T-Thanks for everything Professor Conifer! I promise I won't let you down!" she said, quickly grabbing her new bag, placing the Pokedex inside of it, and placing it onto her shoulder. Unsure if the Farfetch'D would want to be carried or not, she picked him up, trying to hold him comfortably, and with one arm under her Pokemon, she gave a awkward wave with hand and stepped outside, closing the door with her body behind her. With a relieved sigh, she smiled. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all!
