The Fun of Luck

[Virgil]

Virgil saw that Rona wasn't doing all that well. He just had to risk it by keeping her in but he wanted to heal her first. It would be irresponsible to switch her out if the other two wouldn't be able to do much better. He cared for his Pokemon and didn't want to send them into unfair situations unless they wanted to do so. He had no other choice to do so. He didn't wants Rona to be hurt too badly. He dropped his backpack onto the ground. He unzipped it and pulled out a blue berry, an oran berry by its shape and size, and held it up in his hand.

"Rona come back here" he said caringly. "We need to get you healed."

Rona looked at the Tailow but eventually ran back off to Virgil. He handed the berry to her and she started to eat it. He looked towards Thorn as he did this.

"Thorn, you're up" he replied warmly. "Do your best."

Thorn muttered its name before coming out to battle.

Rona: 13/24 (used a berry to restore ten HP) (switched out)

[Spirit]

The Tailow glared at the sight in front of him, Virgil had called his Pokemon back and switched it out with another Pokemon. While The Pokemon in front of him may be at a type disadvantage it was still an annoyace to the small rare bird.

The tailow began charging toward his new enemy with great speed as he tackled his opponent with a Quick Attack.

[RESULT: 4]

His attack was not as strong as his other attacks, but it was still strong enough harm the Treecko decently.

Thorn: 19/23
Tailow: 5/15 (+ 1 Defense)

[Virgil]

Virgil observed the attack, noticing that the Tailow was quite fast with that attack, and he recognized for what that attack was. Thorn would be at a disadvantage but fortunately he had two moves that wouldn't be harmed by it.

"Ok use Pound on that Tailow, Treecko" he said.

The Treecko charged towards the Tailow and brought its tail around to hit the Tailow.

[RESULT: 3] - 1

Thorn smacked the Tailow with its tail, doing barely any damage at all, but he was lucky with it doing just that much.

Thorn: 19/23
Tailow: 3/15

"Will you come with me, Tailow?" he asked politely. "You'll face off against more opponents and I'll take care of you."

[Bayhound]

The Taillow picked himself up off of the ground and weakly preened his feathers, glaring coldly at Virgil. After a few moments of pondering what the trainer had said, the little green bird puffed out his chest and fluttered, albeit with a wobble, to perch on his head. He sighed and pecked into Virgil's hair, making it obvious he would like to see a Pokemon Center soon.

Meanwhile, Cottonnee gasped and sputtered as she tried to catch her breath. "Heh heh... you're alright I guess... for a measly pipsqueak." Without any further ado, she felt herself being withdrawn into a pokeball, clearly frustrated by the event and waiting until the last shake before giving in. She'd been captured? Bah! No fair!

[Tane Flight]

The Pokeball shook for a short moment before coming to a stop, letting Tane know that the capture was a success. Ken had taken notice to this and ran over to the spot to pick up the Pokeball, it shined in the sun's light as if saying they have gained a valuable friend. The blue gator's eyes sparkled to the light that shined from the Pokeball, light tears could be seen trying to form in the Pokemon's eyes, he was so happy about the capture of this new Pokemon.

Ken picked up the Pokeball and walked back over to Tane's side once again, trying to be as careful as he could be not to drop their new friend and handed the Pokeball to Tane who took it excitedly with a large grin planted on his face. Tane looked over to his friend and helper to see that the shiny bird Pokemon had chosen to stick around with Virgil. "Dude, this is awesome. We totally just got us some epic Pokemon, right Chance?" Tane said as he watched Virgil's new bird peck at Virgil.

[Virgil]

Virgil chuckled as he felt the bird perch itself on his head and starting to peck into his hair at least somewhat. It probably looked weird to anyone that was looking. He carefully turned to look at Tane.

"Yeah, I guess so" he replied casually with a bit of excitement in his voice. He pointed at the shiny Tailow. "This guy wants to be healed. But first..."

He got out from his bag an Oran berry and a potion. He first applied the potion to Thorn before giving the Oran berry over to Rona to eat. He watched her as she gobbled up the whole berry in one bite. Rona hugged Virgil's leg and Virgil petted her head gently. He stood back up and looked over at Tane.

Thorn: 19/19 -> 23/23
Rona: 13:24 -> 23/24

"Now, we should get to Gustella Town" Virgil replied sternly.

[Tane Flight]

Tane watched as Virgil grabbed some healing items and healed up his Pokemon. It seemed like a good idea so Tane grabbed a Potion out of his back and used the medicine on Zealot, the item may have not been the strongest kind of Potion, but it still managed healed the bird Pokemon up a little bit.

"Yeah, lets get going, though I wouldn't mind fighting a couple more wild on the way" Tane said, replying to what Virgil said. He wasn't happy that his Pokemon didn't level up quite yet, he was expecting to at least get Ken up a level since he was the lowest level in his team. Thankfully as small as this route is, there are plenty of wilds itching for a battle so the chances of finding one or two more wilds before reaching the next town was still rather high.

Zealot: 14/23

[Bayhound]

One, two, little Cubchoo~ three, four, scary Dusknoir~ five, six, berries quick fix~ seven, eight, traveling's great~ nine, ten, whoooooawatchoutforthosetrainers!

Two more wild pokemon had been skipping along the trail, rather happy about the turnout of their day so far. However, they hadn't noticed they were nearly at the top of a small hill, and they hadn't heard the trainers and their pokemon nearby... so oops! A Bidoof accidentally ran into one of the trainers' legs, sending himself tumbling backwards and into his Poochyena friend. Oh, bother...

[Virgil]

Virgil wouldn't need either of these two Pokemon. They would make good practice for his Pokemon that wanted to be stronger. The Poochyena was going to be his opponent for this match.

"I'll take on the Poochyena, Tane" Virgil said as he eyed the Poochyena. The Bidoof was a good choice to battle but he would go after the Poochyena as he already said that he would. Besides, his Axew could take it down. Electric type attacks would be resisted by his Dragon Pokemon. Or he could send out Treecko. Grass types were excellent against electric types just as dragon types were. His choice was made. He waited for the wild Pokemon to separate themselves as he bade Thorn forward with his hand. He saw the Poochyena get itself out of the Bidoof's way and focus itself on Thorn who was coming towards it.

"Thorn use Leer" he stated firmly.

Thorn glared at the Poochyena as he took each step forward with deliberate slowness.

[RESULT: 7]

Virgil watched as the Poochyena backed away, scared by the Treecko's display of aggression, and seemed less ready to fight.

Poochyena: 15/15 (- 2 defense)
Thorn: 23/23

[Tane Flight]

Tane smirked at the sight of two more Pokemon. ah, the fun of luck, hopfully this time he can take out this Pokemon and level up his Totodile. Virgil eyed the Poochyena and sent his Pokemon out to battle it.

"Alright! Ken ready for some more training?" He asked his Totodile who gladly jumped in front, he always was good in battles and didn't mind it that much either. Now if this was a battle in the water, that would make things a million times better, but for now land will have to do.

"Ken, use your Aqua Jet!"

The Totodile surounded himself in water and charged at the Bidoof at great speed.

[RESULT: 6]

Being surrounded by water, Ken was able to gracefully hit the Bidoof with great strength and speed.

Ken: 24/24
Bidoof: 9/15

The Poochyena wasn't the happiest about thier day being interupted by these trainers in the slightest, he hadn't noticed when they walked right into them until is was to late and the battle started. One of the trainers sent out a Treeko which used leer, the dog could feel his defence lowering a lot from the attack.

The Poochyena was about to charge up his thunderfang, but realized that grass types wern't good for electric type attacks, the damage would not be very effective. In sadness and anger about not only loosing so much defence and discouraged from using his special attack the Poochyena lifted his nose up and gave a howl to the sky in hopes to raise his attack.

[RESULT: 3]

His howling managed to buff up his attack a little, he could feel some power filling his dark fur as he prepared for what would come next.

Poochyena: 15/15 (- 2 defense, +1 attack)
Thorn: 23/23

[Virgil]

Virgil chuckled at the Poochyena's display. This one was tough and a bit smart. Not one that he would want to keep with him as a potential choice to bring to a breeding center. He would have to take this cautiously. Thorn didn't seem phased at all by the Poochyena's display and only hardened his gaze upon the canine Pokemon.

"Use Pound on it!" he called out to Thorn.

Thorn charged forward and did the same motions as last time with its tail. Virgil kept note of where Tailow was on his head and made sure to have his head stay as still as possible. He was taking care of this bird after all.

[RESULT: 5] + 2 (Poochyena's defenses are down by two)

Thorn's attack hit dead center on the Poochyena's face.

Thorn: 23/23
Poochyena: 8/15 (-2 defense, + 1 Attack)

The Bidoof did its best to glare at the water Pokemon but that hardly did anything at all as it merely made itself look cuter. He charged at the Totodile, head first.

[RESULT: 7]

He slammed into your Totodile with a tackle attack and knocked him back.

"Bidoof!"

Ken: 17/24
Bidoof: 9/15

[Tane Flight]

Ken cried out in pain from the Bidoof's tackle, it had done a good deal of damage and sent him back, falling down. The attack left the Poor Totodile in some pain from the attack causing him to start crying.

"Gah! Ken stop crying already!" Tane called out, he knew his Totodile was a bit of a cry baby, but why must he start crying now of all times! "Ken attack back with your water gun!"

Ken stood up shaky, tears still falling out of his eyes and spraying water at the Bidoof.

[RESULT: 8]

Ken: 17/24
Bidoof: 1/15

To Tane's surprise, Ken's water gun had done more damage than he expected, apparently not only did the Bidoof make the Totodile cry, he also upset the water Pokemon causing Ken to attack a little harder.

The Poochyena stiffened as the Treecko's Pound laid a decent beating on the dog, but it did not do so much that he would quit yet.

The Poochyena glared at his enemy growling with anger, though not attack wise and began charging at Thorn to use his strengthed tackle attack while giving off enraged, threatful barks.

[RESULT: 3] +1 (strength)

It is a shame to see however that this Poochyena's Bark, even with his howl is still louder then his Bite, or Tackle attack in this case.

Thorn: 19/23
Poochyena: 8/15 (-2 defense, + 1 Attack)

[Virgil]

Thorn stumbled backwards from being hit by the tackle attack, obviously somewhat irritated by this Pokemon getting close up to it, and wanted to hit it hard for doing that.

"Use that move once more!" Virgil called out.

"Treecko ko!"

Thorn once again tried to pound the Poochyena with its tail.

[RESULT: 7] + 2

Thorn used its tail to pound the Poochyena between the ears. The Poochyena slumped down and fainted.

Thorn: 19/23
Poochyena: *Fainted*

"Treecko."

Virgil laughed lightheartedly at this as the Treecko apparently was saying that it won quietly. Rona seemed to think that this was invitation and jumped the Treecko trying to hug him. It was the same scene from back at the lab.

The Bidoof stumbled after being hit by that water gun attack but was still ready to fight. It did the only that it could do and charged at the offending water type.

[RESULT: 9]

He slammed headfirst into your Totodile again.

Ken: 8/24
Bdioof: 1/15

[Tane Flight]

Ken was thrown backwards much harder than last time from the Bidoof's attack, the damage had done a lot to the small gator and he did not like it one bit. He felt a lot of pain and was getting tired, he didn't like that one bit. Tears threatened to spill once more as he felt his injuries burn all over, it may have not been a fire attack, but the water Pokemon still felt like he was on fire from the strong hit.

"Get a hold of yourself Ken, this fights almost over, just attack it once more!" Tane called over to his Pokemon. "Finish this off with your scratch attack!"

Ken slowly and painfully stood from his trainer's commands, he was right, this battle was almost over and he wasn't gonna be the one to go out! Ken lifted his hands slightly, revealing his sharp, reptilian claws and charged forward towards the Bidoof, a single threatened tear feel as he ran forward.

[RESULT: Miss]

As the tear from Ken fell so did he, just before he could reach the bidoof, he tripped on his own two feet causing him to tumble over and face first into the ground.

The Bidoof laughed at the sight before grabbing some shades and snapping his Bidoof fingers like a boss. Out from the skies a Skarmory flew at great speed. The great steel bird swooped down and grabbed the Bidoof, nothing to do here.

Tane watched as the Bidoof ran off taking his experience with him and leaving his Totodile to sit and weep in his own clumsy failure, well that could of gone battler.

[Virgil]

Virgil watched silently as the battle concluded, Tane's Pokemon, had tripped up and the Bidoof had escaped. Well, that could have gone better.

"Better luck, next time" he replied cheerfully. He went back to being the support for Tane and headed down the path towards Gustella Town. There was no more use to fighting here.

He wanted to be in the town as soon as possible. So, he picked up the pace while humming a tune that he had once overheard someone else humming. Things were starting to get interesting. He liked the battles, he had befriended two Pokemon for now, and well he had to heal both of them. The air was crisp, the sun was still out, and well he was having a great time traveling. The town was his destination. He had to stop himself from running to the town as he reminded himself that he had to support someone. Virgil's Pokemon stayed close by to him.
