Name: Train Curean
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Train, at five feet eleven inches and one hundred forty-six pounds, is a relatively respectable size for a male in his late teens, even though it doesn't seem like he'll grow any more. His hair is a warm brown color, usually kept in a spiky, ruffled style, just covers his ears to the sides, and the nape of his neck in back. He keeps his bangs are short enough that they don't completely obscure his vision, but do occasionally hand in front of his eyes, at which point he uses them for the intimidation factor it can add. This is achieved because of his striking golden eyes, the pupil seemingly slit like a cat's. Many find them startling, and tend to avoid his gaze because his eyes seem to always be judging those around him, even when he is smiling.
Train usually wears a white, low V-neck dress shirt with the sleeves rolled to his elbows, and slits cut up both the right and left seams about a foot, as well as a third, shorter one dead center in the front. Over this he wears an open blue jacket with two large gold circles similar to medallions on either side. Train also wears sturdy, comfortable blue pants that can hold up to a great deal of wear and tear. On occasion, mostly when he is in the mood to cause destruction and mayhem, he will switch over into all black clothing; a black dress shirt the same make as his white ones, black pants, and a long black trench coat. This usually happens after someone has angered him, and he is planning payback. His shoes always remain the same, however, a pair of comfortable of pure black sneakers that have long since been broken in.
Other than his eyes, other noticeable features on Train include the tattoo on the left side of his chest, just below the collar bone. It is the Roman Number XIII, or Thirteen. No one really knows where this comes from, and Train sure isn't talking. He also tends to wear a thin red choker with a small bell resting against the hollow of his throat. Train has a few small scars crisscrossing his torso, mostly hidden by his shirt.
He also has two bags he carries with him everywhere. One is a small pack strapped to his right thigh, sectioned off for easy access to different items. This is where he stores any unused Pokéballs he owns, as well as a handful of medicines for quick access in battle, his Pokédex, as well as any items such as Rare Candies or Perfumes. The other is a large backpack that stores the rest of his supplies that he does not need easy access to. It is compartmentalized to make it easy to find different items, such as his camping gear, a fishing pole, or more. The six Pokéballs that contain his team are kept on the belt in easy reach, even when most are empty, in order for him to grab them quickly in a battle.
To the left side of his belt he has a small pouch that carries a journal, writing instruments, as well as a small camera. This way, he can make notes of his journey as he travels, and is able to write in it whenever something comes to him he feels like adding to it. This journal is not just a record of his journey, but also of the Pokémon he encounters and of the other trainers he meets, as well as breeders and coordinators. On the right side of his belt are six Pokéballs, the ones that are set aside for his current team, even when most, if not all, are empty. This allows him easy access to them in battle, and each is personalized so he knows exactly which Pokéball belongs to each Pokémon at any given time.

Personality:
Train tends to be, excitable and optimistic. He rarely pays attention to the seriousness of a situation, rather making light of it. He also has the habit of ignoring the old advice to 'look before you leap', which can get him into trouble when he does not take the time to think about the results of actions before he takes them. Train is a goodhearted man, on the other hand, and enjoys helping others out when he has the skills to be able to do so. He will often go out of his way to lend a helping hand, even if it may get him in trouble or be dangerous to his health.
A bit of a practical joker, he enjoys annoying others with his uncaring attitude, knowing that it tends to unbalance them when they are unable to figure out what he is up to. He is also incredibly blunt, telling people what he things about them without bothering to 'soften' his opinion. At the same time, he cares very little for the opinions of others when it comes to himself. Train knows who he is, what he can do, and his own worth. No one can tell him otherwise, and therefore, to him, their thoughts are of no importance.
Train is self-reliant and very, very good at taking care of any sort of problem that may crop up He will do what he has to in order to take care of himself and his team, without fail. If his team is in danger, he will not hesitate to help them. This is one of his few 'berserk buttons', and one that should never be pressed if it can be helped. When it is pressed, he tends to become vicious, not holding back on either physical or verbal attacks.
When it comes to battling, Train is competitive, wanting to win, but he also remembers that his team does have feelings and their own personality. As such, while he loves winning, he never wants a win at the cost of his team's health. If his Pokémon get too injured, he is likely to pull them, or call a quit to a battle. Even if it means forfeiting a battle against another trainer, he has no interest in seeing his team injured.
Trainer Class: Trainer
Hometown: Blackthorn City
History:
Born and raised in Blackthorn City, Train was the son of a pair of trainers. His mother had at one point been in the running for Champion of the Johto league, only to withdraw when she realized she was pregnant. At the same time, his father, Robert, was a successful trainer who never bothered with any of the Pokémon leagues. He opted to stop training and return to Blackthorn after marrying Train's mother, Elizabeth, and from there has become an assistant to Gym Leader Clair. Because of this, a number of his Pokémon were dragon-types, which exposed Train to them relatively early. When his mother returned to Blackthorn once it was realized she was pregnant, she began assisting young trainers who came through the Ice Path.
As such, Train has been surrounded by Pokémon since birth, and has never known anything else but the ideal of being a trainer. He has enjoyed working with his parent's Pokémon growing up, assisting them with making sure they were fed. He has also had experience helping out any trainers who would occasionally use their home as a rest area before continuing on their journey, as he parents built an addition to be used as a bunkhouse for traveling trainers.
Some of these trainers were good to their Pokémon, helping him in taking care of them. They showed Train just how to groom each species they had, and what kinds of food they like best, as well as how to see if they were healthy or not. These trainers greatly influenced him, as he could see that the Pokémon under these trainers were vibrant, full of life, obedient, and trusting. He has also seen trainers who view their Pokémon as little more than tools. These trainers leave Train to take care of their Pokémon on his own, not caring if he does the job properly. Any Pokémon under their care were listless, weak, and shy. Many fought their trainer's simplest commands, wanting to get away from their trainer whenever possible. Train has always pitied these Pokémon, and more than once wished he could steal them away from their trainer.
When Train was nine, he made the mistake of wandering onto the Ice Path on his own, without another person or a Pokémon to help him traverse the slippery ice. Within three steps he lost his balance and slid across the floor. Trying to use his right arm to prevent himself from running headlong into one side of the path, he broke it severely, putting it in a cast for several months. Because of this, Train had to spend nearly half a year using his left hand for everything, from eating to drinking to writing. By the time the cast came off his right, dominate arm, he was able to use his left hand just as easily. Realizing the advantage that being ambidextrous would give him, his parents encouraged him to continue using both arms equally.
He has, until now, been more interested in helping his parents and visiting trainers with their Pokémon than actually becoming a trainer in his own right, but a few months ago witnessed something that has propelled him into venturing to the Varaia Region. Resting on top of the Blackthorn City Gym, watching the sky, he was given the rare sight of seeing a pair of Skarmory fighting over a meal, before a Dragonair interrupted the fight to steal the food. Watching the pair gang up on the larger dragon-type intrigued him, and he wanted to learn more about these kinds of interactions. A few weeks later Train watched a young Dratini evolve, and then saw what he swears was some sort of legendary run over the top of the mountains that surround Blackthorn. These events have sent him to Dust Town, looking to start his own adventure as a trainer in a region that has never heard of the Curean family.
