I intended on writing this for NaNoWriMo this year but I dunno if I`ll still participate this year.
This novel was originally intended to be a Storm Hawks fanfic, but then all the characters kinda took a life of their own, and it barely resembled the cartoon by the end of the chapter, so I decided to scrap it and start anew.
Also, no Captain Planet jokes. Someone already beat you guys to that, and it's annoying anyway.
Prologue
Long ago, when the Earth was young, it was a wondrous and beautiful place. But years of pollution and overworking the land had anger the guardians of the planet. In their rage, they plunged the world into chaos. Volcanoes were always erupting, tornados ravaged the land. Earthquakes threatened to tear the entire planet apart.
Those who lived in this world tried to appease their gods, but only one had prevailed. The Vulpineers and their Elemental Harpies made a plea to the Great Oracle, who was a god to all Vulpineers and their partners. He took great pity on them and had done his best to protect them, giving the Harpies the power of eternal flight, never needing to touch the ground, and for the Vulpineers, his most loyal followers, he granted them some of his power.
Each Fox was given a power best suited to them and their goals. Some were granted the ability to produce shields made of pure energy that could block any danger. Others were granted immense strength that could help them lift anything. Others still were granted the ability to produce damaging energy attacks, for which to protect themselves against the jealous Serpentines, who had refused to acknowledge that anything could be done about this and had forsaken their own gods. Different foxes, different powers, all connected by a common goal: Help the planet's residents survive the crisis until the Oracle could calm the spirits who tortured them so.
It is many centuries later. The rage of the guardians has since been quelled. The Earth now lies in ruins. Rather than the once beautiful planet that had many different places connected together, lay several territories comprised of only one type of environment, separated by mountains that reach higher than any have in the past. Yet they are connected by tunnels carved out by the Vulpineers and their Harpies. Yet their task is not yet done, for they still need to use their powers to ensure the safety of the rest of the world from the angered Serpentines, who do all they can to make the world as miserable as they, for the Oracle had cast them into a wasteland for not believing in him or the Guardians. And so, the story begins...
