Well, this was it. She had finally reached Dust Town, after a long, tiring journey. Only a month had passed since Nana and Crissa had passed away, but she had spent enough time mourning, even before Nana had left her. She knew it had been coming, and now she had no more tears left to shed. She popped her neck once, twice, and then opened the door to the Pokemon lab, glancing around as she did.
Her black and green hair swished against the back of her neck, most of the length pulled up into a high pony tail. Usually, back home in Blizzara Town, she left her long hair down to keep her ears warm. One of the things she had quickly learned on her trip south, was that the heat and long, loose hair, didn't get a long very well. She had considered cutting it short, but had quickly banished the idea. Nana had loved to play with her long hair when she was a little girl. She shook the thought off and glanced around again. "Hello?" she called out, raising her voice. "Anyone here? I'm here to get my pokemon."

Andrew walked into Dust Town all....well, dusty. He'd been on the road from the nearest port town for the last few days, and he had had a rough time of it. He'd been chased by spearow, and then by a small group of beedrill. Everything in the book that could have gone wrong had, including losing most of the food he'd gotten for the journey to Dust Town. All he had left was one, singular pickled sausage, which he was eating as he walked, and a single bottle of water which he had in his backpack.
He finished the sausage and tossed the wrapped into the trash pocket of his backpack and continued walking, looking around the small town as he walked. He was looking for Professor Conifer's lab, so he could get his first pokemon and fulfill his dream of becoming a Pokemon Trainer...his father's dream as well. It took him a while to find it, but eventually he found signs that pointed him in the right direction, and he walked up right in front of it just in time to see a girl, about the same age as him or maybe a little older, open the door and walk in. Andrew increased his pace to a quick jog in order to make it to the door before it closed so he could catch it before it closed again.
"Hello?" he heard the girl call out,"Anyone here? I'm here to get my pokemon."
Andrew looked around the lab and shrugged as he spoke,"I uh....I think the Professor might be.......busy...."

Professor Conifer was in the back of the lab, setting out three new mysterballs. Earlier today a trainer had taken the last of the three she already had set up. It would only be a matter of time before more trainers would appear in the lab wanting their very own Pokemon to start their Pokemon journey. She saw so many new faces on a daily basis that it was so hard to keep track of them all, but it was always a joy to help them start their journey. Speaking of, she heard a voice calling out in the lab. She didn't make out the voice of the lad that spoke after her, but she definitely heard Heaven call out. She made her way from the back of the lab to see not one, but two trainers. Her face lit up with a smile as she welcomed them. "Welcome! If you'll follow me, the Pokemon are in the back of the lab" she said before turning right back around and guiding the duo to the back of the lab where the starters and the gear were. "As I tell everyone who comes here, trainers receive one starter while breeders and coordinators receive two starters. You can select one of the starters from the line up" she pointed to the six visible pokemon, "or you can choose one of these three mysteryballs. Mysteryballs are unique to this region. Literally any pokemon could be in them and they're often chosen for their surprise factor." the professor explained. She then turned and pointed at the gear off to the side. "After you're done choosing your starter, you go over here to get your equipment. You choose one bag and one pokedex. Items you need will be in the bag." she continued explaining. After she was done explaining, she sat down in a nearby chair. When she did, Ranny the Suicune walked up to her as she often did when Professor Conifer took a seat to watch the new comers interact with their starter Pokemon. "Cuuuune" she practically cooed, as if encouraging the new comers to pick their starter Pokemon. Professor Conifer let a hand drop to scratch the side of Ranny's head. "Welcome!" a woman that Andrew hadn't noticed said, scaring him and making him jump. He looked at her wide eyed as she explained she was Professor Conifer and showed them which pokemon they could pick. Andrew looked over at the pokemon the Professor named as their possible starters. There was a Chikorita, Larvitar, Zorua, Oshawot......and a Charmander and a Dratini!
He got visibly excited when he saw the last two, natives of the Kanto region. If his father had ever managed to start his own pokemon journey, he might well have ended up with one of these two types of pokemon...or maybe even both. He knew he wanted one of those, but.....the decision was too much as of yet. So he turned to the supplies first. He looked at the back packs, all of them new and in much better condition than his own, which was old and falling apart. He reached for the single-strap sling bag and threw it over his shoulder after discarding his old bag in a nearby trash can. He then turned to the pokedexes and grabbed the blue one.
Then, his decision made, he turned back towards the pokemon and picked up the Dratini's ball and released him from it. He grinned and kneeled down to look at the young dragon-type.
"Hey there little buddy....I'm your new trainer," he said, reaching out a hand to the pokemon....who promptly slapped his hand away and returned to its pokeball. Andrew just stared in shock for a moment and looked at the Professor, confused,"Is.....that normal....?"

Heaven glanced at the the boy, one eyebrow raised. "I'm Heaven. You here to pick up your pokemon? Trainer, breeder, or contest?" She fired off the questions quickly, waiting impatiently for the answer. She had never been good at waiting, which had made the last ten years an agony as she waited for her chance to reach this place, to start her own journey, and to become the best trainer she could be. After a few seconds, she looked away from the boy, one foot tapping as she waited for the professor to show up.
She was slightly startled when the older woman appeared, with the Suicune. She could feel her jaw drop. How she wanted a pokemon that was that beautiful and powerful. She shook her head slightly. Beauty wasn't everything. After all, she was going to be a trainer, not a contest girl.
She smiled at the professor before returning her gaze to the starter pokemon. The only one that really drew her attention was the Zorua. The charmander would grow up to be a powerful pokemon one day, as would they all, but the little fox seemed like the best choice. Of course, there was the mystery pokeballs... They could be literally anything! A shiny, a talker, or even a legendary. She glanced between the the purple balls and the little fox. "I think," she said slowly,"That I'm going to go with the Zorua."

Professor Conifer looked amused at the Dratini's actions. That one would be a handful for sure. Then again, those training the dragon types always seemed to have their hands full. "Each Pokemon has their own unique personality, much like people" she explained. She then turned her attention to the other trainer who chose the Zorua, a favorite of this region. She grinned as the little dark fox made his way to his new trainer. "Well, grab your gear and you are free to leave. Good luck on your travels" she told the duo. Pokemon Name: Dratini Gender: Female Pokemon Personality: Defiant, Anti-social, Takes time to warm up to anyone and any pokemon, Proud of her power, Loyal to those she finally warms up to, Doesn’t like seeing others abused (People or Pokemon). Heaven smiled happily as the little fox made his way over to her. She scooped him up from the ground, softly petting between his ears. "I think I'm gonna call you Voodoo." After all, the little fox pokemon were famous for their tricks and illisuons. She hoped that he would like his name. He looked up at his trainer, seeming to consider the name choice before he nodded. <Zorua> A huge grin split Heaven face as she let out a laugh, hugging the Voodoo closer to her. 'Alright, Voo, it's just you and me for now." She glanced over at the bags and pokedexs before making her way over to them. She placed Voodoo on the ground, gently, before she picked up her bag, items, and pokedex. After buckling her bag around her waist, and slipping her brand new purple pokedex into the slot for it, she picked Voodoo up again, holding him close to her chest. "Thanks so much Professor." She glanced at the Suicune once more, admiring it, but happy with her choice. She looked at the other boy. "Well, wanna travel together? It's not really good to start off on your own." She waited impatiently for his answer.
