“The soul of a journey is liberty, perfect liberty, to think, feel, do just as one pleases” Chelia was more than ready for this trip to Dust Town to be over. And she thought she had a good idea of why it was called Dust Town. Her shoes, her legs... every bit of her seemed to be coated in dust from the road, and she was more than ready to take a stop to rest for a few hours and clean up. "Tsayal, let's stop at the PokeCenter and eat and drink and rest a little." The girl called ahead of her as she shifted the heavy bag on her shoulders uncomfortably. Her brother, as if obliging, stopped and pulled the map from a side pocket of his over-sized backpack and peered at it just as they caught sight of the town. "Thank goodness!" Chelia said, letting her bag drop off her shoulders and she shook out her sore feet before sitting on her bag and stretched her legs out before her. "Y'know... I'm starting to understand why mom and dad never attempted to do this. Walking is hard." She said, sighing dramatically only to grin up at her brother. She then saw his determined expression as he looked for something on the map. "Tsayal?" "This way." He replied and motioned for her to hurry as he began to walk again. He didn't stop when Chelia groaned in resentment and complained as she picked herself up, grabbed up her bag and trudged after her brother. Tsayal didn't stop when he got into town and passed the rest stop, nor at any other nearby place until he finally reached the lab. "Here... we're here so stop complaining you." He said, looking back at his sister and then tipping her hat forward into her eyes so that she pushed him playfully before tilting her hat back up and peered up at the sign. "So... what do we do?" He asked, looking around as if expecting a Professor to pop out of nowhere. "Knock of course." She replied, since that was the obvious answer and Chelia squared her backpack on her shoulders, then strode the last two steps to the door and gave a heavy thump on the door that would carry anywhere inside the building before stepping back to wait.

The door quickly opened and revealed a tall black-haired woman. She smiled and stood aside to usher them inside. "Welcome! My name is Professor Conifer, right this way please." She said, leading them into a back room. In the middle of the room was a large podium which held 9 pokeballs on it, and Professor Conifer strode over to it and opened up 6 of them, turning to the siblings. "So, you know that I study pokemon types as part of my project and all that jazz about how there are many kinds of pokemon in the world, so how about we skip the spiel and get right to the fun part where you pick your pokemon?" She said, stepping aside to let them choose. "The three pokeballs that have not been opened are a mystery. The person I get my starters from thinks it is hilarious to send me pokemon that will bond to the first person who opens their pokeball, so once you open it you are stuck with it. Those pokeballs can contain anything from common pokemon like caterpie to legendary pokemon like Arceus and Mewtwo. In fact, just the other day someone left with a lugia." She explained, silencing herself to let them make their choices.

Chelia grinned at the swiftness in which the door was opened and then looked at her brother. "See... simple." She replied and led the way in so she could set her bags down, greeting the professor as she walked past. Her brother followed, greeting the professor as well but instead of setting his bags down he looked around the place. He wondered, briefly, what it would be like to be a Pokemon Professor, but his attention was called back to the pokeballs as the pokemon were released with tense anticipation.
Almost as soon as the Chikorita had been let out of it's ball, he knew which one he wanted, and it was all he could do to not call it immediately to him. He waited to see the others, and then when the others didn't catch his attention, Tsayal stepped forward with a timid grin. "I'd like the Chikorita please." He said. He was just glad he didn't have to explain his reasons, but his decision was firm and he kneeled before the green, leafy creature to try to coax it to him.
Chelia was not so easy to please. She knew her brother well enough to not even think about going for the Chikorita, and so she looked over the other pokemon. The Piplup was certainly cute... and the Charmander looked energetic. But none of them really caught her attention and she was certain that they'd all make happier friends with trainers.
So, stepping forward Chelia picked up the two balls at the end of the row and weighed them, then picked up the third as if to do the same before she finally set down what had been the middle one and turned to the Professor. "I'll take these two." She said, and with a smile and a bit of a flourish, tossed the balls after pressing their release buttons. "Go ahead and come on out you two!"

The chikorite needed no coaxing from Tsayal as he eagerly ran over to the boy, rubbing his head affectionately against Tsayal's leg. "Chiko!" He chirped as the pokemon Chelia called formed. The two pokemon sat side by side, one with soft, fire-tinged fur and the other tiger-striped. Opening their eyes they took in Chelia's form, and one of them immediately moved. "Growlithe!" Barked one as he ran towards Chelia, crashing into her. The other pokemon was far more graceful as she walked to sit next to her new trainer, tilting her head. "Vulpix?" She asked, unsure of where to go from here. Professor Conifer grinned as she watched the new trainers get to know their new partners. Tsayal grinned broadly when the Chikorita approached him quite willingly, and he rubbed his hand against the smooth head as he knelt to let the Chikorita access him more easily. "Hmm... what should I call you then?" He said thoughtfully as the Chikorita continued to rub it's head against his hands, even as he tried to pull them away. "What about Amadeus?" He suggested to it and it responded with a cheerful "Chiko!" of approval.
Chelia had to take a moment to take in the two pokemon before her, and before she could squee in excitement even, the tiger-striped canine had bounded forward and rammed into her, causing her to fall back on her rump. She did not mind whatsoever though and she flung her arms around the Growlithe. "Oh but you're just a darling aren't you!" She said as she scratched the Growlithe's ears and then looked down at the Vulpix and reached out to lightly rub it's chin to reassure it. "And you're a wonderful beauty, that you are." She said, and looked the two over before nodding firmly. "I will name you," She lightly tapped the Growlithe's nose to get it's attention (though she already had his full attention), "Nero. And you, my darling beauty, will be called Nina." She finished, bringing the Vulpix into her embrace as well. Why bother getting up when her Pokemon were on the floor?

The siblings nodded, lingering momentarily before Tsayal managed to convince Amadeus that he was not abandoning him and got to his feet, then lended a helping hand to his sister, who had managed to encourage Nero off of her with Nina's help.
This done, the two came over to the bags and the box, their feet crowded by the two furry pokemon and Amadeus, and after some talk, Tsayal picked up the proper backpack and a green pokedex, packing the bag in a organized manner. Chelia on the other hand picked up the one-shouldered backpack and grabbed the contents of her box, putting things in wherever she thought they'd go (which meant she'd probably misplace several things) and then grabbed up a purple pokedex.
Both packed and ready to go, they turned towards Professor Conifer and shook her hand in appreciation. "Thanks!" They both chimed and then quickly ushered the three pokemon out of the lab.
