Well... This was awkward. Luna shifted from her place on the back of the large blue... well... she wasn't quite sure what to call it. It was a dialga, for sure. But it acted more like a puppy the a legendary being. She couldn't begin to count the times that Diana had had to remind him what it was he was supposed to be doing. As it was, she had to cling to her friends back for fear of bouncing right off into the path.
"Ho-ow lo-ong until-l we r-reach Gus-stel-la?" she managed to stutter out between teeth that clicked together from a jump or skip.

Diana's eye twitched as Diaruga continued his antics, trotting more like a ponyta than graceful walking or running as was expected of his kind. She turned to her bouncing friend and rolled her eyes, smacking the giant blue dragon's back. "Alright, that's enough Ruru. If you aren't going to behave then let us down, I`m gonna lose my lunch as this rate." She growled. Diaruga whined as he flopped down to let the girls off, letting them use his tail as a sort of step. Stretching her jostled joints, Diana turned to Luna sheepishly. "Sorry about that. You know, I can kinda see why the breeder gave him up to be a starter pokemon." She said, staring at the dragon as he rolled over, pulled his left back leg up and started sucking his foot. She facepalmed at the dragon and sighed, patting his side. "Diaruga, you're an idiot, but you're MY idiot." She said with annoyed affection. The dragon squeaked at her as Diana turned to Luna, looking around. "Hmm, I wonder where we go from here..." She mumbled as Diaruga continued to suck his feet. Suddenly the dragon froze. Diaruga rolled over and jumped back up, circling the girls and growling. Diana stared at the dialga as he continued to circle, eying the fields around them. Do not be afraid, we do not wish to hurt you. Said a female voice. Diana stiffened and moved closer to Luna while Diaruga circled closer to them. "What's going on? Who are you? Show yourself before Diaruga flushes you out!" She said with more confidence than she felt. A light fluttering was heard and a small shadow sailed over them. Diaruga snarled as the white, blue and black form landed. The absol shook itself while its companion, a Deino, walked out from behind it. Fanning its wings, the absol stared intently at Diana and Luna. Humans call my kind Angel Absols. We come from the Abyss of Legend. She said as she and the Deino stayed still. Diaruga stopped circling his friends and stood firmly between them and the newcomers. Gulping, Diana stared at the two pokemon and gritted her teeth. "What do you want?" She asked. The Absol blinked and flexed a paw in front of her. To lend you our strength. Me and my friend here find you interesting. We want to battle, and if you win, you may catch us and make us your own. What do you say? Asked the angel. Turning to Luna, Diana smiled and got into a battle stance. "I`m game. Let's get ready Diaruga!" She commanded. No longer fearing for his trainer, Diaruga was soon back to his goofy self and barked, wagging his tail as he awaited a commanded. Luna couldn't help it. She downright stared at the odd pair of pokemon that seemed to come out of no where, and her eyes went wide as saucers when she heard the white one actually speak, though it's mouth did not move. Strange, she would have thought it was an absol, except for the wings that graced it's sides. Still, the black and blue one was cute.
"I'll try too," she said with a nod, glad that at least these pokemon hadn't come out raging like the ones she'd met in that crazy swarm. Well, while she was determined to do this, might as well do it. So she reached for her belt and pulled out one of her pokeballs, tossing it up to release the creature within. Unfortunately, the torchic tumbled more that the pokeball.
Not that he seemed to notice. Darzee simply sat and cheeped up at Luna, who in return squee'd at the absolutely adorable if clumsy thing. "Hey little one," she said, reaching out to give the fire bird a hug. "Wanna try a rockslide on that black and blue pokemon over there?" He cheeped again, and did his best to toss an attack the deino's way.
[RESULT: 0]
Too bad the deino dodged it with no effort at all. Oops.

The Deino seemed to scoff at the attack that brushed past it and quickly ran towards the Torchic, glowing with a mighty Earth Power attack.
[RESULT: 0]
Unfortunately, his target was able to get out of the way as well, the Angel Absol shook her head in exasperation.
Oh Deino, you tire me. She grumbled as she turned to her own opponent while Diaruga danced around in an excited manner. This was his first battle and he couldn't be more excited! Diana's eye twitched and she clutched her fist tightly.
"Diaruga, stop being an idiot! Use Dragonbreath!" She commanded. The Dialga immediately stopped where he was and turned his head towards the absol, unleashing a pink flame in her direction.
[RESULT: 1]
The absol's wings opened wide and she leapt high into the air, dodging most of the attack but still getting her back paw singed. She winced slightly at the pain as her wings and horn glowed.
Not bad, my turn. She said, bringing her wings up to touch her horn, firing a blast of black and white energy at Diaruga and Diana.
[RESULT: 9]
Moving quickly, Diaruga rushed forward, shielding his trainer and taking the entire attack himself. Diana watched as her mighty dragon crashed to the ground from the attack, and she ran to his side, petting his neck gently.
"Diaruga! Diaruga are you okay? Come on boy, please be okay!" She yelped as Diaruga opened his eyes, nuzzling her hand and then standing up. He stomped his foot on the ground and gave a high-pitched roar at the Angel, determined to win while Diana smiled.
"Attaboy Ruru! Let's show them what we've got!" Said Diana as she rejoined Luna.
"This is fun." She said, her eyes glinting.

It was a relief when the deino's attack missed as well. For a moment, the girl had been afraid that he would seriously hurt the little torchic. But he didn't and then the absol attacked, and now was the time to be worried, for that was one heck of a powerful attack. It knocked Diruga down flat, and had she not been worried about the deino sneaking an attack on her, she would have run to his side as well. Luckily enough he seemed to be okay, and Luna nodded to her companion.
"Darzee, try again with a rockslide!"

Deino snorted at the attack and snarled at Darzee, blasting a powerful DragonBreath at him.
[RESULT: 5]
And the attack hit Darzee squarely on the chest, throwing him backward. Out of the corner of his eye, Diaruga watched the attack and whipped out his tail, catching the flying fire pokemon and helping him land safely while Diana watched approvingly.
"Alright boy, use Iron Head on that cocky white chatot!" She said in a taunting manner towards the Angel Absol, who merely dismissed the insult and hovered in the air while Diaruga rushed forward, his head glowing as he gave a mighty leap.
[RESULT: 2]
The Angel Absol yawned as she dodged yet again, this time her whole leg getting damaged.
Honestly, you have GOT to do better than that. She said, flapping her wings rapidly and sending an Air Slash in Diaruga's direction.
[RESULT: 5] Not very effective, -1
Diaruga gave a hiss as the windy attack bit into him, but his typing protected him from an even nastier scrape as he glared at the flying creature.

This... was not going so well. "Tough pokemon," Luna muttered, shaking her head before smiling gratefully at the great big puppy for helping out Darzee. "We'll get this, Diruga. Don't worry." She glanced over at the torchic and looked him over, doing the best she could manage without physically running her hands over the little bird. She'd been around enough pokemon that she knew that it wasn't too hard of a hit, so she turned to look at the Deino with a light dusting of fury in her gaze.
"One more time Darzee! I know you can do it!" besides that, the rockslide was the only effective move she had against it.

The Angel Absol and her Deino friend watched in horror as the Torchic unleashed a massive rock slide on them both, and soon Angel was forced to land next to Deino while both girls chucked pokeballs at them. "You're ours!" Diana said as the purple and white objects pulled them inside. The pokeballs shook once, twice, three times before they pinged a successful capture, prompting Diana to leap up in joy. "We did it!" She yelled as Diaruga relaxed into his usual, moronic demeanor, yipping happily and rolling the pokeball containing the Angel towards his trainer. Diana pat his head lovingly as she took the pokeball from his flat paw, clipping it to her belt. "Good boy Ruru. You did great." She said as he wagged his tail in appreciation. To say that Luna had been surprised at the ferocity of her little torchic would be an understatement. He'd been powerful enough to not only subdue the deino, but also the odd winged absol as well. "Wow..." she said, stunned, as she watched the pokeball that she had automatically tossed shake and shiver before pinging a successful catch. "That was amazing, Darzee. You're quite the powerful little guy, aren't you?" She reached down and grabbed the pokeball, situated it on her belt, then recalled her friend.
Only then did she turn to study the big puppy that her human companion was showering with affection. "Don't tell me we have to ride on him again. I don't think my rear can take much more of his enthusiasm."

Diana gave Luna a deadpan look while Diaruga collapsed beside her, sticking his back right foot in his mouth. "Are you kidding? After getting his ego inflated from that battle? I'd rather poke a sleeping ursaring with a sharp stick." She said as they started walking, knowing Diaruga would follow. Soon, it grew dark, and the group stuck closer together. Diaruga grew serious once more and stayed right in front of the girls, lighting the path with the gem on his chest acting as a flashlight. Diana frowned as they continued to move, growing more and more concerned over her pokemon's lack of enthusiasm. "You know, when he is calm like this, it would not be a problem to ride him. I wonder if we SHOULD climb on, I do not like how serious he is. Last time he got like this, we got attacked." Diana said as she looked around, waiting for something to pop out. Sure enough, Diaruga stopped in his tracks, backing up enough to push the girls to his side with his tail, roaring rather loudly. "I hate it when I`m right." Diana mumbled as Diaruga pitched a fit in the way only a legendary could. "Diaaaa!" Come out! He snarled, Diana holding the pokeball with her new friend in one hand while keeping another on her loyal idiot. Two forms emerged from the darkness and glared menacingly at the girls while Diaruga growled, releasing his friends now that he knew where the danger was. Diana quickly got into a fighting stance as she turned to Luna. "We're not out of the woods yet. Back me up Luna?" She asked. The odd comment made Luna stop patting herself down. She was checking to make sure she hadn't dropped anything in the midst of battle, but the image brought to mind by Diana's comment had a smile twitching at her lips in a way she just couldn't control. "Poking an Ursuring might be a bit safer, too," she said after a moment, falling into step beside her old friend and lapsing into a comfortable silence as they traveled.
Of course, after a while the trouble maker grew serious again, and Luna didn't like that any more than Diana did. Especially not when it ended up with a giant Dialga butt in her face and no way to escape thanks to his tail. She nodded a bit in agreement, sometimes being right was not so great.
But then their attackers revealed themselves, and Luna just wasn't listening anymore. She stared at the two ghostly balls with wide eyes, keeping perfectly still. Diana's answer was a scream. It was not, however, a scream of terror. Oh, no. A more accurate description would be a squeal of delight as the small girl danced forward in an unusual show of emotion.

Diana gave Luna an incredulous stare, her eyes wide open at her friend while Diaruga continued to growl. Without any warning, one of the Gastley moved in to attack, laughing maniacally as it's tongue lolled out of it's mouth for a Lick attack.
[RESULT: Miss]
The legendary was less than impressed with the attack and quickly dodged out of the way, carrying Diana with him. Setting her down again by her friend, Diaruga crouched down and waited for a command.
"Diaruga, DragonBreath!" Diana commanded, and Diaruga was more than happy to comply, charging up the attack.
[RESULT: 0]

It took another moment or two for Luna to come out of her squee enduced coma, but when she did, she seemed to shake herself. Nodding once more to Diana and Diruga, the girl reached for her belt. She hovered for a moment over the pokeballs before choosing Darzee once more. He had done so well against the previous encounter, perhaps he would do so again.
So in a moment, the little fire chick stood in front of her again.
"Darzee, be careful little one. Night Slash, please."
[RESULT: 9]
Luna squealed again seeing the other gastly become dazed and confused. She certainly didn't waste the opportunity to capture such an absolutely adorable pokemon. |

Diana looked at Luna and smiled approvingly, happy for her successful capture, while she concentrated on her own battle. Diaruga wasn't too pleased about his attack doing nothing on the Gastly, and he was letting everyone know by roaring his displeasure. Diana grew determined and glared at the gas ball.
"Calm down buddy! Attack with Iron Head!" She commanded. Diaruga's head glowed slightly and he ran forward, charging towards the Ghastly.
[RESULT: 7]
The attack hit dead on, and Gastly wailed in pain. The ghost pokemon looked at Diaruga angrily and rushed towards him with another Lick Attack.
[RESULT: 2] Not Very Effective, -1
Diaruga shook off the ghost pokemon, far from any sort of injury from the attack, resulting in Carina showering the legendary with praise and reassurance.

Luna was quite happy with herself, and exstatic about her most recent catch. But still, there was something to take care of and, after making sure that the pokeball dinged the catch, she turned to the remaining gastly, watching it and Diruga battle it out. Luna felt like helping out, so she turned to Darzee again.
"You feel up to another Night Slash?"
The little chick cheeped in agreement.
[RESULT: 9]
The coordinator blinked a few times as the torchic ran forward and put an end to the battle with another ferocious attack. For such a timid little guy, he sure was tough as nails. He ran over to the pokeball that now contained gastly and began to roll it back to his owner, but promptly tripped and fell on his face.
Luna resisted the urge to slap her palm across her face, instead moving forward and picking up both pokemon and ball. "You did excellently Darzee. Thank you." |
