A single day in the sunshine

Rune woke up pretty lazily, but like most days, this was very expected of the new breeder. The chilly night air had given him a bit of an annoyance while asleep, but now the fresh air didn’t bother him too much. He slipped out from under the sleeping bag, Colette and Akita also popped their heads out of the bag, having slept beside Rune on either side of the cozy, surprisingly spacey bag. Akita stretched and gave a small yawn, calmly looking up at his new trainer before relaxing on the bag again.

Colette would have leapt at Rune by now, but she was too sleepy, and she only curled into a ball and fell back asleep on the comfy blue bag. Rune half smiled at her before sitting down on a nearby rock, combing out his wild mane of silver hair until it looked like he wanted. Akita had gotten up and wandered over to him, so Rune took out a bowl and filled it with a dark type food supplement, adding a few vitamins before setting it down in front of Akita. While Akita ate, Rune wandered over to Colette and picked her up, the sleepy electric squirrel peering up at him while he sat down on the rock, placing her in his lap.

“Hold still.” He instructed, taking a special looking brush from his bag. It was made of rubber, and he put it to her fur, grooming her white coat. Sparks of electricity flew from the static fur, but it didn’t shock rune thanks to the rubber of the brush. Colette was enjoying the soothing grooming, and relaxed on Rune’s lap, happily allowing him to groom her as he wanted. He was a breeder in training after all.

After he was finished, he poured a bowl of food for electric types into Colette’s bowl and set it to the ground, allowing her to eat while he took out a small sandwich and began to eat. It didn’t take the hungry teen too long to finish, and by then Akita was done eating as well, so he picked the young Pokemon up and began grooming his fur, this time with a different brush, and similar to Colette, the Zorua relaxed in his lap, curling up into a ball and letting the brush run over his back.

Minya was hardly paying attention to where she was going, since Orichalcum was taking up most of her focus. She accidentally tripped over the small electric Pokemon as it ran in front of her. She fell forward, dropping the Dratini and faceplanting into the dirt.

She growled, getting herself up and brushing the dirt off her clothes. She turned to Rune and looked daggers at him. "Tell your Emolga to watch where it's going." Orichalcum slithered back up to Minya, giving a withering glare to the Emolga for inadvertently causing him to get dropped. He wouldn't forget this.

Rune paused mid-brush stroke, glancing up at the girl in front of him. Akita opened one eye to look up as well, Making sure there was no danger, and when he found that Rune seemed as calm as ever, he turned around and closed his eyes again. Rune sighed and shook his head before continuing the brush strokes again, but when he realized that the girl wouldn’t go away, he placed the brush on the floor beside him and stood up, Akita dangling lazily from his arms. He proved to be a bit taller than the girl, and he cleared his throat.

“Well instead of her watching where she’s going, why don’t you watch where you’re stepping?” He asked, his voice controlled and cold. He called out Colette’s name and the the electric squirrel came barreling at him, clinging to his neck. She was a bit over dramatic, but at the moment, Rune was of course going to side with his Pokemon.

“And besides that, you shouldn’t be telling me to watch what my Pokemon is doing. That could have been any other Pokemon, even a wild one that ran past you, and you probably would have yelled at it too.” He finished, looking down at her. He raised one of his hands to his hair and ran it through, a bit flustered. He had never talked to someone for this long, really. Was it always so frustrating?

Oh no. He did NOT just talk back to her. She growled furiously and got right up in his face. "HOW DARE YOU? DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHO I AM? I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW MY MOTHER IS A GYM LEADER AND SHE CAN KICK YOUR PASTY BUTT INTO THE GROUND IF SHE HEARS OF THIS!" Eventually she ran out of breath, and she was left to huff angrily at him.

Orichalcum slithered up on Minya's shoulder, crooning softly. "Draatini. Dratini dra." "Don't lose your cool like that. We have no idea what lies ahead. Minya exhaled deeply, but continued to glare at Rune. What a beautiful start, neh?

Rune huffed. What a loud girl she was. Hmph…pasty, was he? Well, he didn’t understand girls, or why they got so upset whenever he talked to them. He just spoke the truth, was that so terrible? Colette climbed down from Rune’s shoulder, trying to avoid the scary girl, and Rune simply shrugged off her blatant screaming. So what if she was a gym leader’s daughter? That didn’t change the fact that she was being annoying.

“If you were a gym leader’s daughter, it’d make sense to act civil you know.” Rune responded, holding his ear and trying to stop it from ringing. He turned his eyes away from the girl, Akita looking up at him curiously.

“Besides…Gym Leaders could have helped me back then, but they didn’t…so, I don’t see them as very strong figures…”…Where had that come from. Rune ran his hand through his hair again and shook his head.

“Anyway, You may want to stop your screaming before you get some of the Pokemon that live around here angry. It’s still early in the morning and they’ll attack if they haven’t had enough rest.”

Too late! Well rested or not, all that nonsense and yelling was, well... ridiculous. Very ridiculous, and very annoying. Annoying enough to make pokemon who woke up rather cheery angry, and the group that began marching towards Rune and Minya were pokemon you did NOT want to upset. But the damage was done, and now the two were going to have to suffer through the consequences.

Almost immediately, the bushes all around them began rustling, small purple and white bodies surrounding them and hunkered down in angry stances. Well well well, what did we have here? An entire family- no, an entire pack of Stunky? They weren't known to travel in such large groups, but dark types had found this area more than acceptable lately, so anything could happen. As two of the Stunky, the much more aggravated and in charge ones, approached the boy and girl, the others lifted their tails, bringing the unpleasant traditional Stunky perfume to the scene. Of course, with this many pokemon, simply unpleasant turned into unbearable. Even though they were upset, the skunk pokemon waited for the people to accept their challenge.

If this didn't teach them to be quiet, then who knows what would.
