Roha looked to Juliet, who was scowling even more now. More male pokemon! UGH! Wouldn't her trainer just switch her out for that stupid cuddly pig that she loved oh-so-much? The breeder scowled at her once and it was enough to change her mind. "Pursuit, little darling."
Juliet curtly nodded and turned to the Gastly, emanating a shimmering shadow around her small form. She rushed forward to attack the Gastly.. It was a decent hit.

"Snivy!" Good hit! the grass snake called out to Juliet, nodding and squirming excitedly. Vero nodded as well, crossing his arms as he watched the battles transpire. He and Roha had done very well so far, hadn't they? However, his opponent hadn't went unnoticed, and the Sableye quickly and quite literally bounced back into the fray. When the Snivy wasn't looking, both he and Gastly took aim, ambling toward their foes in their own ways. First, thanks to his speed, Sableye landed a Scratch, Gastly following up with Lick on Juliet.

Vero squealed and stomped his foot at the menace, heartbroken as he watched his very first pokemon get attacked. "Get him back with Grass Pledge!" Gypsy shivered and stood back up, carefully summoning a column of leaves upward and around the Sableye.

However... something about the way the shadowy, gnarly beast intreagued Vero. The pokemon got up and went right back to attacking in no time, and if he looked past the creepy grin... it was actually cute. And how many people could say they had a Sableye? He certainly hadn't seen any in contests. Clicking his tongue, the man rustled through his bag and pulled out a pokeball, tossing it at the pokemon without a second thought. The Sableye seemed to have a coniption fit, doing all sorts of poses and rapid movements before it was withdrawn inside. Standing on his toes, Vero patiently waited for the shaking pokeball to still, and once it did, he leapt for joy.
"Yay! Oh, this animated sweetie will do wonderfully" he cooed, plucking the pokeball from the ground. Gypsy sighed and made grabby-hands at her companion, chirping happily when she was picked up again. "I think I'll call him... Quantez."

Juliet was starting to get tired, but Roha still wouldn't switch her out. She growled at her trainer, insisting that he switch her RIGHT THIS INSTANT! She stamped her feet when he gave no indication of budging. This was ludicrous.
"Please Juliet, just a little longer. Use Pursuit." Juliet grumbled and surrounded herself with shimmering shadow again, rushing at her opponent with all her might. She had to end this quickly..

The Gastly had to be almost finished now. Juliet looked back at her trainer, surprised that she had given so much power into her attack. Roha smiled softly at his Pokemon, having had experience as a breeder before in Johto. "Wonderful. I knew you could do it, Juliet."

From this point on, Vero snuggled Gypsy close and watched Roha work from afar. He was so calm... probably the perfect picture example used for 'gentle giant' in books. Again, the coordinator's eyes were wide, and he made quiet comments to himself as if he were commentating a wild pokemon documentary. Gypsy was equally as tranced, her head tilting a bit after Juliet's attack.
"Say, where'd you say you came from again?" Vero asked, sticking his tongue out at the Gastly as is weakly floated forward, attempting to Lick Juliet again.

Roha smiled again and glanced back at Vero. "Just outside of Goldenrod..I'm the grandson of the Daycare Couple." Juliet looked to her trainer, awaiting another order. "Use one last Pursuit."
She charged up her attack, sure it would finish off this pesky Gastly. Then she could have a nice long rest, right? She better have earned one or so help her trainer's kind soul! She rushed forward confidently..
[RESULT: 4]
It was over. The Gastly keeled over, laying on the ground a few minutes before getting up and then hastily floating away. Juliet looked smug, then trotted up to her trainer. He then recalled her into the Pokeball, chuckling softly. "Good work, Juliet. You deserve a nice rest."

Vero blinked. ..Goldenrod? That wasn't too far from... his true home. The man suddenly gulped and narrowed his eyes, remembering the heckling from his youth and the true reason as to why he moved. Gypsy, sensing her companion's sudden change in mood, shifted in his grasp and whimpered. "Sniv?" Vero shook his head and rested it against his beloved pokemon, not wanting to damper the situation with the past.
"You must've had a lot to live up to, then. I'm keen on seeing if you can rise to the challenge" he commented, almost challenging him, in a way. "You're very good to your pokemon, though. I'm sure that's a sign of something." And then, without any further ado, he changed the subject. "I think we're getting close to Gustella. I hear... chirping." EXP: Juliet: 4
