Onward we go

It was peaceful up in Jack's tree. All morning she had watched trainer after trainer walk past her without even realizing that she Scarlet, Blush, and Crimson were in the tree.

Were all city kids this oblivious to their surroundings? She mused as another one walked under her without looking up. She twisted an acorn off and tossed it from hand to hand bored out of her mind. "I hope Cressy and Edric get here soon." she complained to here Pokemon.

Okay so she hadn't told them that she was leaving but she had to get out of that city. THERE HAD BEEN SOO MANY PEOPLE! HOW DID THEY LIVE LIKE THAT? Wait, the sign had said Town. Towns were smaller then cities. Did that mean that they were going to get BIGGER? Jack groaned at the thought.

She looked down at her new egg and sighed, "Well I wanted to be a Breeder and this was the quickest way so I guess I just have to deal with it."

Scarlet's nose twitched when a familiar scent on the wind reached her nose. She was about to bark out a greetings when Jack put a hand on her shoulder. "Wait. Let's surprise them." Her trainer had a sly smile on her lips. The small fox answered with one of her own.

Soft music flowed through the wind as a large creature walked along the path. Skarmory's claws scratched in the dirt, seemingly in sync with the music, as he trailed on. On his back, Crescendo played a song while his Snivy curled in his lap, relaxing into the music. Skarmory yawned as he kept walking, but stopped suddenly when he got under a tree, suspicious. Crescendo stopped playing his flute and looked over at the metal birds head.

"What's the matter Skarmory?" He asked him. Skarmory stayed silent as he tried to figure out why he felt so suspicious.

Jack and Scarlet dropped from the tree with a loud shout. Scarlet landing on Skarmory's head and Jack tackled Crescendo off the big bird.

Years of practicing this same exact move made her able to stop him from slamming into the ground but unlike with her brothers he didn't counter the move to keep them standing. So they landed sprawled on the ground. Up in the tree Blush and Crimson sighed at their teammates actions while holding the egg and Jack's backpack.

Jack started to chuckle. that hadn't gone as well as she had planned. "Morning Cressy." She managed to get out through her laughter.

The three had been taken by surprise by the assault, and Crescendo and Snivy went tumbling over, the poor grass snake squashed between Jack and Crescendo while Skarmory reacted angrily, throwing his head around. Crescendo blushed profusely at the contact of the girl while his Snivy struggled to get out from underneath, glaring at Jack when he finally did.

"Uh, good morning?" Crescendo said sheepishly, unsure of what else to say while his pokemon glared.

Jack popped off of Crescendo and grinned at him "Is everyone outside of Lost as unobservant as you?" She teased, "I mean I've been here for hours and not one person noticed we were there. Not one."

"Hey you're blushing as bad as Blush!" she exclaimed then laughed some more as she pulled him to his feet.

"ODD-ish" I do not blush THAT bad! Blush whined making Jack giggle some more.

"Come on down here you two." She held up her arms to catch Blush as she jumped out of the tree. Next Crimson eased down to a lower branch and dangled her bag with it's precious cargo down to Jack's reach before jumping to the ground himself.

She patted Snivy and Skarmory in apology before giving Crescendo her full attention again. "So where is Edric?"

Crescendo coughed as he tried to calm himself, losing his blush.

"Yes well, I'm not used to women throwing themselves on me, so forgive me, Jack dear." He said half-polite. He tilted his head at her question as he strode back to Skarmory.

"He got a phone call overnight. Something came up at home and he needed to leave right away." He said with a slight nod.

Jack scratched the back of her head a little embarrassed. "It's a game I play with my brothers. We all try to take the others off guard. If you can knock the other to the ground then you win. So I won this round!"

She smirked at him. "So feel free to try and take me off guard anytime you feel like it kay?" She challenged before returning to her normal cheerful self."So Edric isn't going to be traveling with us anymore? That's too bad we were just starting to get along."

"So did you get your badge? Can I see it? Can I see it?" She bounced next to him tugging on his sleeve while pleading with him.

Crescendo coughed again and chuckled at Jack's challenge, moving over on Skarmory.

"We shall see. Now then, would you like a ride?" He asked, patting Skarmory's rump behind him. He turned his eyes downcast at her lament for Edric, though he had a feeling it was only half-meant, and breathed deeply.

"Well, it was nice to have him around when we did, right? Better than not knowing him at all?" He asked, curious for her answer.

Jack jumped up after she returned Scarlet and Crimson and settled Blush in her bag next to her egg. "I really wanted to see what his egg would hatch into. It was brown with light brown spots and a black line going from top to bottom. Whatever it was it was going to be cool. I just know it."

"Oh hey when my egg hatches we'll both have Bird Pokemon! Won't that be cool?" She peeked at her egg. "I hope it will have some red on it. Then all my Pokemon will eventually have red. Oh I can't wait to see what it will become!"

Then she sighed. "I hate waiting." She confessed. "A battle would be a nice distraction. Maybe we will run into some wild Pokemon. What do you think Cress? Would you want to catch more for your team or just train?"

Crescendo tilted his head as he thought over her question.

"Well, I would like to train, but I may find myself with a new friend. You never know what nature has in store." He said poetically while Skarmory began trotting back onto the path, nodding at his trainer's words half-heartedly.

"So..." she sat behind him and rested her chin on his shoulder. "I've been wanting to ask this for a while. What's with the cape? Doesn't it get in the way. It's not very forest friendly. I can just imagine it getting caught on all kinds of then."

"Personally I prefer jackets and loose pants with lots of pockets. They don't get caught on much and you can carry anything you fine interesting with out much hassle." She sat back and tossed the acorn she had managed to keep from hand to hand to relieve her boredom.

Crescendo chuckled at her question and turned around on Skarmory, leaning against the birds neck. He fingered the garment in question fondly, looking at Jack.

"It belongs to my father. See, he and mother initally thought I would travel in the Sinnoh region, which is far colder than it is here. When they got me a ticket for here instead, I decided to keep it not only as a memento, but also to use as a blanket so that I could save room in my pack." He explained with a smile.

"Sleeping bags are bulky, and unnecessarily so in my opinion. I'd rather curl up in my cape and cuddle a pokemon." He said, patting his Skarmory who stopped in front of a stream, staring at two pokemon talking to each other. Crescendo looked at the pokemon and tilted his head at them.

"Would you like to battle them? You can pick which one you would like first." He said without turning away from the pokemon.

"I'll take the Zigzagoon." Jack Cheered as she lept off of Skarmore. "Scarlet You're up. Scratch"

"Oh dear." Jack's natural caring nature stepped in and she was running over the the Normal Pokemon with concern.

Crescendo smiled as Jack ran to the injured pokemon's side, almost not noticing the Buizel reacting angrily and charging towards the girl.

"Jack look out!" He called out as Snivy leapt off, vines emerging from his collar and wrapping around the girl and her pokemon. With a mighty cry, Snivy pulled the three back before Buizel could get to them, much to the weasel's displeasure. Crescendo glared as he stood up straight.

"It isn't nice to attack someone when they aren't looking." He scolded the pokemon.

Scarlet snarled at the offender and charged in a Pursuit at the Buizel.
