Keiran had been informed that it was raining very heavily on a certain route, and that he should investigate.
As a result, he was now shielding his face from the downpour with his arm held over his head, and his hyper Porygon was still flying around him in circles. He was walking carefully, and hoped that he wouldn't slip. That would be very unfortunate.
The rain was supposed to bring rare Pokemon out of hiding- as a Trainer, wasn't it his duty to find one, capture it, and befriend it? If this turned out to be a false lead, he was going to strangle his informant. His book could get wet out here, despite being safely packed deep in his bag.

Hmm, fall and slip? Oh yes, this trainer seemed to be reading one pokemon in particular's mind. He wasn't too happy about finding humans invading his territory, especially when it was raining as wonderfully as he was. Why couldn't he and his fellow water types enjoy the weather without a bunch of meddling kids getting in the way? So as Keiran continued on his way, a pair of red eyes followed him, watching until the perfect opportunity rose...
And then, bam! The Totodile rammed his head against the boy's legs, snickering in mischievous laughter. "Toto, Tododiiiiiiile!" I challenge you, punk! he declared, crossing his arms.

Keiran's Porygon happened to be floating right where Keiran was going to fall, and helpfully nudged the boy back to his feet. His eye twitched. It was the only visible sign of emotion he showed, even though he had just been shoved by an impudent Totodile. It looked about half as strong as the random Pokemon he had seen around his hometown. However, he was a Trainer now, and was expected to rely on his own Pokemon to deal with these incidents. And it now seemed to be challenging him... and he had the distinct feeling that it had called him "punk". How irritating. "I'm not feeling terribly threatened," Keiran said, folding his arms. "I suppose we will oblige your challenge, though. That way, at least one of us is being respectful and cordial." He glanced at his Porygon. The digital Pokemon had stopped orbiting him, and now appeared to be... bouncing in midair beside him. Well, at least it was... enthusiastic. "Not-A-DJ. Astonish." The Porygon paused a second to look at him, then hovered forwards a bit. He disintegrated into binary code that vanished, rematerialized behind the Totodile, and released a burst of noise as he attempted to ram the gator Pokemon. [RESULT: 9] [22/22] vs [6/15] The attack went over quite well, and though this Totodile had a bit of an attitude problem, it couldn't be much worse than DJ Not-A-DJ. He took out one of the Pokeballs that Professor Conifer had (COUGHHINTCOUGHCAT) given him, and shrugged. Why not try? He tossed the Pokeball, half-expecting it to fail.

The Totodile huffed, tapping his foot as he waited for the battle to begin. Too much longer and he'd have to make something of it himself! Right before he tilted his head back to release a watery attack, he noticed the Porygon begin to... evaporate? Confused, he tilted his head, and before he knew it he felt himself being hit from behind.
What. What? WHAAAT. This was not good, not good at all! The Totodile panicked and started flailing around as soon as he saw the pokeball, attempting to escape before it hit him. However, he wasn't quite fast enough and was withdrawn into the purple sphere, causing the capsule to jump and wriggle around fervently. He tried to get out, honestly he did! But the element of surprise was a little too great, and he succumbed to being captured.
This would not be the end of his antics - Keiran could count on that.

Hmph. Pending antics. At least he could probably get this Pokemon to cooperate, even if neither of them would like it at first. He picked up the Pokeball.
"I'm going to call you DJ Mon. And if you object, well, that's too bad," he said to the sphere containing his new Totodile. He slipped the ball into his pocket beside the one that could be used to return Not-A-DJ, and turned to head back to shelter out of the rain. He had experienced enough rain for the day, and did not care to go out of his way for more Pokemon.
