Con had separated from Yuki just for a little while. He had wanted to see what was around route 802, and so had Yuki, but they had felt if they stayed together, nothing would come. Looking around, Con took note the steam that seemed to be emanating from the ground.
“I wonder why it’s so hot out here…” he muttered softly to himself, looking around and yawning a bit. He supposed the only thing there was to do was wait. Pushing some pesky strands of black hair from his face, he sat by the routes edge under the scorching sun.Crescendo looked up and cooed a bit. This was surely one of the most horrible times he could think of to have feathers!

While con walked, a pokemon walked carefully behind him, quickly making its way up to him and stamping the ground when it got in front. The Cyndaquil's back flame flared up as it looked at the trainer with a determined gaze, ready to battle. "Cyndaquil!" He challenged, expecting a response. Con stopped as soon as he heard the Cyndaquil’s cry. He knew it well since well…he had studied a lot as a kid (That and it was pretty obvious). He turned to see the fire rat looking at him, and he quickly brought up Staccato’s Pokeball. Calling the Pink Murkrow from his sleep had certainly made him cranky, and Con sort of frowned as his bird looked away from him.
“Oh come on Staccato, don’t be difficult...” He muttered quietly, trying to come closer to him. Though, a rock caught his shoe and he tripped, sliding into the dirt path. Con sat there with his eyes closed for a moment, cursing the fact that he had thought his clumsy curse had gone away for even a moment. Standing back up, he tried to dust himself off, a blush spread across his tan face. He sighed and glanced at Staccato, who now with a glint of humor in his Crimson eyes, looked ready to fight.
“Staccato, use Faint attack!” Con watched as the bird obeyed, allowing his body to be shrouded in a black Aura and launching himself at Cyndaquil.
[RESULT: 4] It was a good hit, but it could have been better as Staccato flittered back over to Con.

Cyndaquil shook the attack as he flared up his back, ready to attack. He thought carefully before charging forward, a Quick Attack aiming dead for Staccato.
[RESULT: Miss]
Oh wait! Con was in the way! Crud crud crud! the Cyndaquil changed direction at the last minute to avoid striking Conneko. He didn't wanna hurt anyone! The Cyndaquil squeaked unhappily at Conneko, warning him to stay away from the battle so he wouldn't get hurt.

Con was confused by the Cyndaquil’s excited squeaking at him, and he sighed, looking down at the young creature as it seemed to be giving him a lecture. He stepped farther away from Staccato, who snorted at the Cyndaquil while he waited for Con to give him his next order.
Con continued trying to push the pesky locks of hair from his face again as he thought of an attack for his Murkrow to use now. When a thought finally came to mind, he breathed deeply, hoping this would work. He wondered what Yuki was doing for a moment, and he remembered he’d have to go find him later. Great, that was a whole adventure in itself.
“Alright, use Faint Attack again Staccato!” Staccato let himself light with the aura again and took off, aiming towards Cyndaquil again.
[RESULT: 2]
The attack connected, but unfortunetly, was not all that effective. That was just Conneko's luck talking, he decided.

He may have been weary of the trainer and held back his attack from landing before, but that didn't mean he wasn't otherwise good at battling! He'd heard the bird coming from a mile away thanks to his trainer's silly method of calling out moves and such. What was he going to do when he had to battle a Zubat or something else with extra sensitive hearing, hm? Shaking his head after the hit, the Cyndaquil puffed up a bit and flared the flame on his back again.
"Quiiiiiiil!" he cried, rushing forward as he tried to land a Flare Blitz.
[RESULT: Miss]
But that silly boy was in the way once again! During his slight mind wandering moment about Yuki, he'd failed to see that his pokemon had landed back in front of him after the attack, and of course, where else was the little Cyndaquil supposed to run if he wanted to attack? Staccato had dodged in the nick of time, and Cyndaquil had turned and nearly run into a tree to try and avoid Con.
"Quil quil! Cyndaquil!" Pay attention will you, please? he huffed, shaking his head sadly. He would not be moving if the boy was in his way next time! Staccato: 26/26 Cyndaquil 9/15

Con frowned as he realized he was still in the Cyndaquil's way. Now instead he walked in a direction where he was no longer behind Staccato, but just off to the side. Maybe that wouldn't happen again anymore. Staccato gave him a glance before flying up.
"Now, let's try one more Faint attack!" Con called out, giving Staccato the okay to come barreling down towards the Cyndaquil. He was ready to land another hit, and hopefully it would work.
[RESULT: 7]
Another good hit! this time it seemed like they had Cyndaquil where they wanted it. So Con took a empty Cherish ball from his bag and tossed it at Cyndaquil, hoping this would catch it.

Oof! The Cyndaquil flopped back on his bum, clearly dizzy from that last attack. The little one could hardly stand up, and when he did, he was actually relieved to find himself in a snug environment when the pokeball withdrew him. In two shakes Con had confirmed a capture, the Cyndaquil only realizing what had happened until it was too late. Wait... small and dark.. what had he done?!

Con picked up the Cherish ball and sighed, sticking it in his bag. It seemed like they had a new friend after all. Smiling at Staccato, who seemed happy with himself, Con called out the Cyndaquil and picked him up, looking him over.
“Hm…I think I’m going to call you Forte, is that alright with you?” The Cyndaquil cried out, letting him know it was just fine, and Con decided to go find Yuki. Well, that had been fun at least.
