Lesa had blushed and hummed and dipped her head under the praises of the gym leader as she mused out the clue to the Gustella breeding center, and taken the pokeball with reverence as the pidgeot was handed over. In the next few minutes she had said goodbye to the entei, thanked Nurse Joy and her helpers, and bowed her fare wells to the Gym Leader, though she knew she'd see her again tomorrow when she came to watch Sawyers battle.
Then she'd returned Aunia and Kale to their pokeballs before turning to Sawyer and Celeste, asking if they'd like to join her. Just because she had solved the riddle of the direction to go in, didn't mean it would be easy to find the breeding center. They had both accepted her offer, and now several minutes later they were situated in the main crossroads in the northwest part of the town, and Lesa was looking around in dismay. Where to go from here?
Of course, it didn't help that she had a larger than life baby suicune trailing her every step, bumping up against her as if to make sure she was still there. She could feel the stares of people watching as their group walked by. There was nothing she could do about it though; she did not yet have a pokeball for him, and there was no way Comet was going to sit and stay anywhere that was not right next to his mama. So she just held her head up and tried her best to ignore things.
When they had made it to the crossroads, Lesa tossed up the pokeball that Leader Wendy had loaned her, and released the pidgeot inside. After the bird had settled her wings, Lesa spoke up. "So, what now? Do we just wander around looking for the fearow in the riddle?"

Pidgeot stared at the breeder as she asked her question. She tilted her head over and over as if listening for something. She looked up and saw something in the distance, opening her wings and shooting upward. She seemed to fly into the sun, and soon disappeared. She did not keep her company waiting long, however, for she soon came diving down again, holding something large in her talons. She stopped when she was five feet off the ground and let go of the thing she was carrying, allowing it to straighten out.
"Fearow!" It cried angrily. Celeste peered closely at the bird and gasped, tapping Lesa's shoulders.
"Look Lesa! "marked with a big red bow.', it's the Fearow you were supposed to look for!" She said. The Fearow hovered as it stopped squawking angrily at the Pidgeot and turned to the girls. It gave an inquisitive squawk and landed in front of Lesa. Accepting her for what she was, Fearow lifted a wing and made a "follow me" gesture and began to awkwardly walk forward.

Lesa blinked as the pidgeot shot up into the air suddenly, making a small "Oh." as she stepped back involuntarily. Of course, she bumped right into Comet, who used the distraction to stick his nose into his mama's hair and nibble at it's length. The girl turned absently to wave the suicune away, staring up into the place where the bird disappeared, or as near as she could get considering she'd flown straight into the sun. A picture of an old tale popped into her mind, of a boy with wings made of feathers and candle wax flying into the sun after not heeding his father's warning. The was had melted and the boy had plummeted to his doom in the sea.
Strange, what random things you think of.
But just as suddenly, the pidgeot was back, and had a rather irritated looking fearow clutched in her claws. Lesa blinked a few times, before Celeste pointed out the red ribbon tied to the protesting creature. "Uhm, hello," she said simply, dipping her head to the fearow as it studied her. It didn't take long. Soon it was off in another direction, and gesturing for them to follow. Before taking off after it, Lesa turned to the pidgeot, holding up it's ball. "Thank you for helping us find Fearow." With that, she waved and took off in a sprint after the waddling fearow, biting her tongue to contain a giggle at it's awkwardness.

Celeste was not so quiet with her laughter, her giggling loud enough for all to hear. The Fearow ignored it as best as it could as it came up to a rather strange building. It looked like an Aviary as it was covered in a large mosquito-net dome. Fearow walked to the front door, pecking at the knob until it opened, and ushered its guests inside. It was amazing, there were so many bird pokemon inside! From Pidgey to Braviary and everything in between, this place had it all! In one cage, the yellow form of a Zapdos could be seen on the floor! It was every bird-lovers dream in here!
"Whatcha got for me Screecher?" Asked a male voice. From the back of the building a tall man emerged, holding a baby spearow in his arms. He looked at Lesa and her friends and frowned in thought, smiling when he realized what was going on.
"Ah I see, Weird Wendy sent ya here am I right? My name is Trevor, and I`m the Head of this here center. Bird pokemon are my life and I can't imagine doing anything else but breeding them. Before you ask, that Zapdos got hurt and I`m protectin it until it feels better. Now then, which of ya is takin my test?" He asked as he stroked the spearow in his hands.

Suprise and awe filled Lesa's expression as she stepped into the building behind the fearow. She stood blatantly staring at all of the birds everywhere, her eyes giving the zapdos no more attention than any other of the birds. After all, in the past day she'd been around two different suicune and almost been killed by an entei. A bird on the floor? Nah, it wasn't as impressive a sight as it might have been yesterday. Still, though... So many different birds! Then a voice broke her out of her daze and she glanced over at the man who came from the back. Aw, what a cute little spearow! Not as cute as a pidgey, but still cute. All babies were cute.
"It's nice to meet you, Trevor. I'm Lesa, and I'll be the one taking your -- Oomph!" She said nothing about his comment on the zapdos. As she was speaking though, Comet had bumped his head against the middle of her back, curious as to what was happening around his mama, since she was blocking his view. His nudge sent her several steps forward, and he peeked into the door, looking around at all the birds.
Rubbing her back a bit, Lesa grimaced, giving Trevor an apologetic smile. "I'll be the one taking your test," she finished, before gesturing to the nosy little suicune. "This is Comet, by the way. Pushy little thing that he is."

The breeder gave a faint smile at the man's words about Comet. "Well, he would have come in as an egg, except we got attacked by an entei bent on roasting me alive and he hatched to save me," she admitted gravely, looking back at the curious little baby and her two friends. It was such a crazy day, she thought shaking her head. But her attention was caught up by the pocession of pokemon that did their work dillegently and without a single word from their trainer. "Quite well trained, aren't they?" she said to herself as they set up the table before disappearing again. When Trevor spoke again, she listened to him and nodded, stepping forward towards the table.
For a moment, she simply stood there looking at the eggs where the sat. She studied them quietly, looking from one to the other, to the next, and did that for several long moments before reaching out to one, the furthest one to the right, which was bright red. As she picked it up, she noticed the heat radiating from it, and how even within it's shell the little creature seemed to pulse with life. This egg definitely was not a fake, and she set it down once more, glancing back at Trevor with an incredulous look on her face. "You have a Ho-oh egg? You must be a talented breeder."
Those were her only words as she picked up and gently examined each egg in turn, before setting each carefully back down into it's bowl. After about ten minutes of examining, she wanted to be thorough after all, she set the last egg down and took a step back, giving a small nod. "Alright then. I think I know which ones are which."
"That one," she said, pointing to the red one from earlier, "Is a Ho-oh's egg. I can tell from the heat it puts off."
Then she pointed at the purple on on the other end. "That one is fake. It has no life to it like the others, and the weight in it is off balance, like a ball or something is rolling around inside of it."
"The one next to the fake is a Vullaby, I can tell from the bone pattern on it's shell. The next one is a duduo, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was the egg from the dudrio that brought it in. They share similar markings. The fourth one had me for a little bit, I thought it was a sneasel at first, but sneasel are ice types so it's egg would be cold. That one is warm, so I know it wasn't that. But looking at it's markings, it resembles a rufflet's feathers, so I'm assuming that's what's inside this egg."
"Which means the last one is the one that has nothing what so ever to do with flying types. I'm not quite sure what's inside of it, though. The blue color is familiar, and those white stripes... It could be an oshwatt, or a poliwag, or even a dratini." She paused for a moment, her brows pulling together. "But it couldn't be a dratini because dragonite have the flying type. And now that I look at it, that blue color looks an awful lot like a glameow's fur. Yes, I think that's it, a glameow." Suddenly, Lesa's teeth snapped together and she blushed, turning to look at Trevor. "Sorry, didn't mean to ramble."

Trevor gave her a wide-eyed stare as she rambled about the eggs, giving him answers and explainations. Both he and his Fearow were speechless when she finished, theirs jaws dropped in astonishment. "Well I`ll be, I only asked ya to figure out what was fake and what wasn't my type. You're gonna be one talented breeder little lady. Lemmie get somethin for ya just a moment." He said, disappearing to the back door. He came back out with a large base, holding it out to Lesa. "Here ya are. Proof that you impressed the Head of the Open Skies Breeding Center. This here on the lid is an Open Skies marked Cherish Ball, proving you really did earn this from me. Good luck findin the other centers hun." He said as he held the case. The egg inside was well cushioned from any kind of bouncing, and the plexiglass case made sure it was protected from outside hostility. Eggs Obtained: Lesa:

The suprise and astonishment on the faces of the breeder and his fearow simply made Lesa blush more. Her hands clasped behind her back, and her head dipped forward, her hair obscuring her face a bit. "Well, I've been around pokemon for a while," she muttered shyly, peaking up through her bangs as the man disappeared. He soon came back with an egg encased in a very protective looking dome, with a red ball on top.
The girl's eyes lit up at the site of it, and she gingerly took the offered egg into her arms, cradling it with obvious care. Having no other way to show her thanks, what with her arms full like that, Lesa dipped her best curtsey to Trevor, the smile on her face evidence of her happiness. "Oh, thank you! Thank you very much! I'm so glad you passed me!" Turning to the fearow, she dropped a kiss onto it's beak. "And thank you for showing us the way here. It was very kind of you." Someone was going to think she was insane, talking to and treating pokemon just like they were humans. She didn't care. Instead, she turned and nearly danced back to her friends, showing off the egg in her arms. "Look, look! My first egg! Isn't it exciting?"

Trevor smiled at the girl as she gushed over her new egg. Celeste grinned wide while she bounced around her friend, studying the egg in it's case with her egg in her arms and Pendra on her back while Vulpin danced between the girls legs.
"It's so cool! What do you think is in it? Maybe it's a Moltres!" She yipped, earning a shot of heat from her white egg. She frowned and looked down at the egg, snorting at it.
"You don't have to be so mean about it, I`m egg-cited!" She said, earning a groan from everyone around her and an even more intense heat from her egg, yelping as she struggled to hold onto it.
"Owie! Say Trevor, could you tell me what my egg is and why it's picking on me?" She asked. Trevor took a close peek at the egg in her arms and made a humming sound, shaking his head.
"Doesn't look like anything I've ever bred. Ya say it's hot? Well, that means it's probably a fire type. Buster in Droughtenna could tell ya. Anyway it's probably close to hatching." He said in a matter-of-fact tone. He turned to the remaining eggs on the table and batted the fake egg away from the rest of his eggs, throwing it into one of the cages where a bunch of baby Doduo kicked it around.
"That purple egg is a toy. The doduo like to play Baccer with them and the girls like to pretend they are mothers with them." He explained while he took out a rag and polished the Ho-oh egg.
"I actually didn't breed this egg, it was a gift from the Ho-oh of legend. One thing about Varaia Breeders, if you specialize in a certain type you're more likely to encounter legendaries of that type." He explained as he finished cleaning his egg. He picked it up and held it in his arms while his Dragonite returned to grab the rest of the eggs and take them back into storage. Trevor smiled at the girl's earlier compliment about his training and he shook his head.
"One thing you`ll learn about breeding, it's not so much about "training" pokemon as it is about trusting and respecting them. That ain't to say trainers and coordinators don't think that way, but they operate on more of a "Listen to me if you want to win" system, whereas the situation is more the opposite for breeders." He explained to her as the Dragonite returned, taking the Ho-oh egg from Trevor's arms. He smiled and pat the Dragonite's shoulders as it took the egg back while the Center Head returned his gaze to his guests.
"So, now you have yer egg, and a bit of a lesson from me. Your next destination would be the DeepSeas Breeding Center in Torrentia. As I said earlier, it's run by my cousin Becker, AKA Becky. I wish ya luck in findin it. I hope ya enjoy your egg. If ya go back the way you came there's a trainin field where newbies like to battle. It seems to hatch eggs faster. Good luck on yer quest." He chirped, waving the girls goodbye as he went back to tend to his eggs.
His Fearow, meanwhile, was flabbergasted at Lesa's kiss and warbled softly in gratitude, tapping her legs affectionately with his beak. Trevor stuck his head back out and chuckled at the Fearow.
"Ah alright. Say, why don't you let Screecher there show ya where the field is? I ain't never seen him act like that with anyone but me. He really likes ya." He quipped, popping back into his egg storage area without another word. Celeste tilted her head and hugged her egg close, turning to Lesa with a smile.
"What a weird guy. Well, let's go to that field. I wanna train my pokemon too!" She said while Pendra and Vulpina yipped in agreement.
