I'm a bit busy at the moment, so I'll just say that Azel would like to participate in this contest and is signing up.

Gear cheerfully walked up to the reception desk, Snippy energetically running behind him. After the last contest he'd been in, he figured it best not to try anything with Cammie for a while, at least until people forgot about the incident. Once he'd finished signing up, he went off to get in some last minute practice for his appeals.

Celeste was nervous, she had the first turn and she was not entirely happy about it. Before she could think of anything else, her name was called.
You will do ine. Ra ra's voice comforted. With her heart in her throat, Celeste stepped on the stage. She swallowed the lump in her throat and gave a smile to the crowd, grabbing two pokeballs off her belt and tossing them into the air.
"Vulpin, Pendra, it's showtime!" She called. On cue, the Zorua and Whirlipede appeared in a shower of black and purple sparkles. Landing on the ground next to each other, both pokemon calmly waited for commands from their trainer, who nodded at them.
"Pendra, get moving and use Venoshock! Vulpina, get on top of Pendra and use Ice Fang as the Venoshock comes out!" She commanded. The horns on Pendra's body began glowing a violent purple, and she began to spin around, preparing to move when Vulpina jumped on top, running to keep herself from falling off the large wheel-like bug. Purple lightning-like streams burst out of Pendra as she began to book it around the stage, her attack flying all around. However, Vulpina bit the attack everywhere she could reach with her Ice Fang, making the icy power extend for a moment to freeze the purple lightning. Doing her best to manipulate the attack, Pendra curled the Venoshock inward and held it in place while Vulpina froze it, and before the crowd knew it, Pendra leapt up and landed on a platform created on top of this spiraling Venoshock crown with Vulpina still standing on her, panting from the running. Celeste smiled and stepped further back so she could fully see both pokemon.
"Now then, Pendra, get on your side and use Bug Buzz and Vulpina, make an Aura Sphere and hold it there." She commanded. Pendra began to spin around once more, this time turning on her side so that Vulpina could jump next to her and wouldn't have to run again. As Pendra spun, a red glow began to pulse in all directions from her while Vulpina charged her attack. Soon, the blue ball of energy appeared in her mouth and grabbed it with her tail, balancing it on the tip of it and held it up high. Soon, the entire crown seemed to glow from the Bug Buzz while the Aura Sphere served as the crown jewel, shining brightly and coloring Vulpina and Pendra's top halves of their bodies in blue, while the Bug Buzz colored their lower bodies in red and dyed their middles a purple in transition. Celeste smiled at how pretty the appeal looked, and she clapped her hands together, ready to end the appeal.
"Wrap it up guys!" She commanded. Immediately, Vulpina pulled back her tail and then whisked it back up as hard as she could, throwing the Aura Sphere high while Pendra rolled into her, pushing both pokemon off the top of the crown. Moving to stand in the iddle of the inside of the crown, Pendra pulled in her Bug Buzz and concentrated the energy in two of her horns, blasting a powerful beam upward as the Aura Sphere fell, both attacks disintegrating the Venoshock Crown on their path to meet. Soon the attacks collided, causing an explosion that resulted in red, blue and purple sparks gently falling down on top of the two pokemon, who bowed before the cheering crowd along with their trainer before leaving the stage.

Gear clapped cheerfully as he watched the appeals before him and before he knew it, it was already his time to perform. Taking the stage and waved cheerfully at his audience. "Okay! Sala, Boo! Let's go!" he said cheerfully as the Angel Absol and Misdreavus appeared in a shower of confetti. "Boo! Start us off with Ominous Wind!" Gear instructed as the Misdreavus began to release a dark fog-like wind that slowly began to fill the stage until it became impossible to see through.
"Now! Use Psywave!" Gear continued as the bright yellow beam Boo fired off shone like a beacon through the darkness and as he began to collect the wind around him and twirling it around and around him until it formed a large ball around him with only a few gaps where people could see through and see the Misdreavus' wide grin.
"Sala, your turn! Use Electro Ball now!" Gear continued as the Angel Absol's sickle began to crackle with electricity before forming into an bright ball of electricity that was fired at Boo and his ball of wind. Once it reached him, it got caught up into the orbit and began to spiral and turn around him along with the wind that made up the ball itself. Sala repeated her attack in rapid succession until Boo was surrounded by hundreds of balls of crackling electricity, each moving about him in perfect motion with everything else. Getting bored, the Misdreavus decided to speed up the process and his ball began to turn faster and faster until it became impossible to see anything except for the dazzling light show that was being created by the electrical attack.
"Boo! Finish it off with Power Gem!" Gear instructed as, from within his makeshift prison, Boo fired off a beam of purple light that collided with the Electro Balls it touched, turning those a dark purple instead of the bright white they usually were. With a wide grin, Boo manipulated the ball around him to rise up above the audience and separated it, taking the dark colored Electro Balls away from the white ones, and taking one from each color away from the rest of the group. With one final blast of Psywave, he collected each of them and turned both into one half of a Yin-Yang symbol, placing the two Electro Balls he'd removed into the half of the opposite color before letting the attack fade as each of the electrical attacks sparked as the rain touched them before fading away.

So, the contest circuit was finally back up and running. Azel sighed as he pushed a hand through his hair, staring absently at the large screen in front of him that showed off the appeal round as it happened. The long pause in holding contests had been understandable and perfectly necessary. After all, people's homes were more important that a silly little ribbon, and every available hand had been needed to help with rebuilding Quakita City. But it was still frustrating, and the boy had itched to get back into the thick of things. Here was certainly there now, and the luck of the draw had placed his appeal very late in the program. He was use enough to the flow of things that his placement wasn't an issue, but it was still hard to wait. During the lapse he had taken the chance to teach his pokemon some new moves, and he was very excited to try them out.
Finally though, after watching appeal followed by magnificent appeal, his name was called to the side stage. He was up next. The boy nodded to himself and grinned, glancing down at his signature red ribbons for one final check that they were not frayed or otherwise misshapen. The person who was placed just before him was on stage, and he half watched the girl show off her pokemon, half watched the reaction of the crowd. Seems like he wasn't the only one getting restless, he thought, noting how several watchers shifted in their seats. Likely they were ready for the intercession that came after the appeal round. One more glance, out the window to note the cloudy, dreary, rather wet day outside, and then the stage was empty again, while his name was announced and his turn began.
Time to get started, then.
Azel bounded out onto the stage, doing a little twirl for the audience and bouncing about as he moved, letting his own energy fill the stage as he took his place. Normally, he would have held still for a moment, but this late in the round he needed that energy to flow through to his performance, so with one final twirl, he released the ribbons that were bound to his wrists and launched his two chosen pokeballs into the air. The little snap of the ribbon at the end of the motion had the balls twirling so quickly that their features blurred as they moved. Each one snapped open with the accompaniment of multicolored flashes of lightning, the two shapes of their occupants emerging among the rainbow glow.
One, the larger of the two, was lower than the other, and as the light flashes cleared revealed itself to be the lugia that Azel had in his company. She twisted over until she was flying upside down and circled back towards the other pokemon who was rapidly falling to the floor. Just before the grovyle would have landed, Mimi slipped beneath him and Izzy instead landed on her tail, using it as a springboard to launch the grass lizard back high into the air.
"Mimi, weatherball!"
The lugia cooed and formed the large ball of water in her mouth, still flipped over and floating on her back. Just as Izzy reached the highest point of his jump, she launched the weatherball directly at him.
"Izzy, leaf blade!"
The grovyle's elbow leaves glowed green and quickly extended as he dropped into a head first dive, sending him headlong toward the oncoming weather ball. Just before the two would have collided, Izzy slashed his arms forward, connecting leaf blade to weatherball, shattering the water sphere into a fine mist that sparkled as it caught the stage lights. He fell through the mist, only to connect with Mimi's tail once more and to again be launched back into the air.
This patterned followed several times until there was a large circle of mist ringing the stage, catching and amplifying the stage lights until it seemed as if the ring glowed. When the circle was completed, Mimi finally flipped over to fly upright, catching Izzy in his final decent once more, but this time on her back. The two dipped down below the ring of mist until they were just below the empty center of it, surrounded by the glow and yet at the same time not touching it.
"Let's wrap this up! Mimi, extrasensory! Izzy, dragonbreath!"
The two let loose their attacks simultaneously, the two colored beams meeting in the center of the ring of mist and exploding outwards in a rainbow of color until they filled the empty space. It gave the entire thing the effect of looking like a flower with a rainbow center and soft white petals as it floated above the stage before slowly fading away.
As the light show faded, Mimi brought herself and Izzy back down to the floor. The grovyle hopped of and Azel stood with one pokemon on each side of him, bowing deeply to both the audience and the judges. His appeal was done, now all that was left was to wait for the results.

After a few more coordinators the appeal round was complete, and the judges got closer to each other to discuss their decision. Celeste sat in the waiting room, kneading her pants on her thighs in nervousness while she waited, and it felt like it took years before Obsidian came back on the screen.
"The judges have made their decisions, here are the results!" She said, pointing upward as a graphic appeared, showing coordinators pictures one by one. In first place, Azel's picture showed up, not that Celeste was surprised. He was a natural at these contests, and she was struggling to get by. She sighed as she continued to watch the 8 pictures show up when, in 5th place, her picture appeared. She leapt up from her seat with Vulpina n her arms, hugging the tiny fox tightly while she danced around Pendra.
"We did it we did it we did it! We made it into the next rou---oh crap." She said, realizing she might have to go up against Azel. She sighed for a moment, but then her face twisted in determination.
"Not this time! Victory will be ours! Right everyone?" She asked, her pokemon cheered while Ra ra gave her support from in her pokeball. Satisfied, Celeste nodded at her pokemon as she recalled everyone into their pokeballs, leaving for the battle round.
One by one, coordinators fell until it was Azel and Celeste on the final stage. She gave him a determined look and a confident smile as she pulled out two pokeballs.
"You may have beaten me many times before, but I won't give up Azel. Here we come! Ra ra, Nuna, it's showtime!" She called as the Reshiram and Grovyle appeared side by side, staring at their pokemon with determination rivaling their trainer's.
"Grovyle!"
Celeste's fire burns even hotter than mine, we will show you our true power! Said the reshiram as she roared, a few flames spurting out of her mouth and tail.
Ra Ra: 38/38 Nuna: 29/29

Azel, Mimi, and Izzy watched quietly as the judges discussed their decision. When Obsidian came back, he and the rest of the room feel ominously silent. He could feel the eyes on him as, once again, his picture came up in first place, and the boy couldn't help but duck and blush just a bit. His companions whooped and hollered excitedly at finding out that their appeal had gone over so well. Azel was just happy that the long break from contests hadn't rusted his abilities any. He continued to watch as the rest of the coordinators were named and flashed a grin as a familiar face appeared in fifth place. he'd been up against her before, he thought with a laugh. In fact he'd traveled here with her.
He clapped quickly for Celeste before the eight of them were ushered out and the battle round began. While a tough workout, he managed to make it to the final round. Across from him was none other than Celeste. Azel had to applaud her for making it here, just as much as he had to applaud himself. It definitely had not been a 'give me' contest. He was happy that either way, one of them would walk away with another ribbon.
The boy bowed low to his opponent. "A pleasure to face you again, madam! I look forward to battling with you once more, but don't think that just because you are my friend, I will go easy on you!" With that, he winked and flicked his own two chosen pokeballs out onto the field.
Yamato and Sora emerged from them and situated themselves opposite of their opponents. A matched set, it seemed, with a legendary and a second evolution starter on each side. This would definitely be interesting.
"Let's get started, shall we? Yamato, use Metronome on the reshiram!"
The mew nodded and twitched his fingers back and forth a few times before his arms began to glow with a black sort of light. It seemed this time the attack being called was a shadow claw.
[RESULT: 5]
A decent attack if he did say so himself! Azel nodded before moving his gaze to quilava. "Sora, you use extrasensory on that grovyle!"
[RESULT: 3]
The attack was not as effective as it could have been. Oh well, she had just learned it after all. Ra Ra: 33/38 Nuna: 26/29 Yamato: 36/36 Sora: 30/30

Ra ra and Nuna flinched at the attacks, but still managed to keep on their feet, never taking their eyes off their opponents while Celeste smiled from her side of the field. So far, so good. She looked at her pokemon quickly and thought of which attacks to call.
"Ra ra, use Flamethrower on that mew! Nuna, Crush Claw on Quilava!" She commanded. The pokemon nodded and began to charge their attacks.
[RESULT: 6]
The Flamethrower made a good hit on it's target while Nuna charged forward with her Crush Claw at the ready.
[RESULT: 9]
It was a critical hit as the grovyle drove her claw towards Sora.
Ra Ra: 33/38 Nuna: 26/29 Yamato: 30/36 Sora: 21/30

Azel couldn't help but nod in approval. Celeste had definitely gotten better since their last battle, and it showed in the way that she and her pokemon moved. That just made things oh so much more interesting, didn't it? The boy grinned and looked at his own companions as they shook off the powerful attacks.
"Don't take that now, ya'll. Yamato, mega punch!"
[RESULT: 6]
The punch landed on Ra Ra with a good deal of power, and Azel turned to Sora. "Sora, use rollout!"
[RESULT: 8]
Now that was more like it! Ra Ra: 27/38 Nuna: 18/29 Yamato: 30/36 Sora: 21/30

The opposing pair met their hard strikes with hard ones of their own, and this time they knocked both pokemon down. Celeste looked at her pokemon laying down worriedly and pulled her fists to her chest.
"Come on you guys! Get up! Please!" She said, trying to keep worry out of her voice. Ra ra shook her head and stood up, staring at her opponents while Nuna followed suit.
Do not worry, we won't give up Celeste. Guide us to the truth! Ra ra demanded. Breathing a sigh of relief, Celeste donned her confident face again and turned to the mew and quilava.
"Alright then, Dragon Pulse on mew Ra ra! Nuna, use Dragon Breath on Quilava." She said, trusting them to let their attacks be true.
[RESULT: 6]
Ra ra delivered another nice hit on the much smaller pokemon while Nuna took a deep breath, sending a blueish/purple flame toward the quilava.
[RESULT: 4]
Sora was fast, but she wasn't fast enough to escape the entire attack, but it still didn't do as much damage as Nuna and Celeste hoped it would have.
Ra Ra: 27/38 Nuna: 18/29 Yamato: 24/36 Sora: 17/30

Hm. Tough pair, these two. Azel eyed the reshiram and grovyle for a moment before looking at his own pokemon. Yamato looked a bit dazed, but not overly so. Sora, on the other hand, was rolling faster than ever, and seemed to have barely felt the attack. So he turned to her first.
"Sora, keep it up! Rollout again!"
[RESULT: 5] +1 Rollout
Excellent! The quilava was still rolling strong and true, though Azel had no idea how she kept from being dizzy like that, as she switched to slam into the giant fire dragon this time.
"Yamato, try another metronome!" His tail glowed silvery as the attack turned into iron tail.
[RESULT: 8]
Ra Ra: 21/38 Nuna: 10/29 Yamato: 24/36 Sora: 17/30

Again their opponents were tough and threw the two pokemon back again. Though they managed to get up, both pokemon were puffing, Nuna especially was exhausted. Yet they continued to stare down their opponents with determination, and Celeste couldn't help but smile at her hardworking pokemon.
"Switching up are we? Alright then, we can do that too! Ra ra, Dragon Pulse on the quilava! Nuna, Leaf Blade on that mew!" She called. Both pokemon quickly switched places and prepared their attacks.
[RESULT: 8]
A perfect hit from Ra ra sent Sora tumbling backwards while Nuna ran towards Yamato with her Leaf Blade.
[RESULT: 4]
Obviously she wasn't used to attacking a pokemon smaller than the quilava, for she did not make much of a dent on the mew.
Ra Ra: 20/38 Nuna: 10/29 Yamato: 20/36 Sora: 9/30

This back and forth was getting rather tedious, and neither of the trainers seemed to be gaining much ground. Still, Azel refused to use his pokemon types to his advantage. The rollout effect had been accidental. He shook his head and watched as Sora wobbled, though she did not stop rolling. The boy was proud of his little quilava, and told her as much.
"Good job, Sora! Keep it up!" With rollout lasting five turns, she had no choice but to continue the attack against Ra ra.
[RESULT: 5] +2 Rollout, +1 Type
Yamato was doing a bit better, looking not too terribly worse for wear as he stood his ground against Nuna.
"Yamato, use psybeam!"
[RESULT: 7] Nuna is confused
Ra Ra: 12/38 Nuna: 3/29 Yamato: 20/36 Sora: 9/30

Nuna staggered about, moaning from the confusion while Celeste's face somewhat fell. Ra ra quickly rounded on her trainer and rebuked her as Nuna danced around weakly.
It's not over until the last one falls, don't you dare give up on us! Ra ra snapped. Celeste shook her head quickly and looked up at Ra ra with a nod.
"Of course I`m not giving up! Now pay attention" She said, earning a satsified smile from the weakened Reshiram while the dragon turned back around.
That's more like it. Ra ra replied. Shifting her eyes to Azel, Celeste met his gaze with a smile.
"You do realize, this means war? Rara and Nuna, double Dragonbreath go!" She called. Ra ra sucked in a deep breath while Nuna sang, Ra ra's attack firing first towards the Quilava.
[RESULT: 1]
It was almost like the quilava knew what was coming, as he managed to avoid bad damage. Nuna meanwhile launched a dizzy dragonbreath in the air, and Celeste facepalmed while she prayed to all who could hear her that the dragonbreath hit true.
[RESULT: 2]
It hit true alright. Right on the head. Nuna's own attack crashed on top of her head, making her bounce for a moment before she continued dancing.
Ra Ra: 12/38 Nuna: 1/29 Yamato: 20/36 Sora: 8/30
