Finally he was here: Dust town, where aspiring trainers, coordinators, and breeders alike took their first steps into the wide world of pokemon. In Spike's case his first step was actually more of a tumble right down the steps of the train, spilling quite a bit of his back pack's contents and earning him the slight hopping limp as he walked down the dirt road. Spike couldn't believe he was doing this... leaving home to start a pokemon journey. Really, he should've just kept saving up... he could've made enough to just get an abandoned pokemon from a shelter... eventually.
But he had made his mind up, no turning back now. If he had run back home he would've been tormented mercilessly, and really the city was getting more and more dangerous to go about without a pokemon to protect you. No, he would do this, he was ready for this. Eventually he found his way to the building, and must've read the sign a thousand times to make sure he wasn't bumbling into the wrong place.
"Hello?" he said, cautiously poking his head in through the door, casting a long look around the interior of the lab...

The door opened and Spike stepped inside, looking around as colors flashed and beeping was heard. A light mist filled the room as a wind blew, as if pulling him into a door in the back of the lab. He opened the door and was nearly pushed back by the blue and white muzzle in front of him. Standing tall and proud, the Suicune stared at him sternly, moving behind him and pushing him inside where 6 pokemon waited, along with 3 pokeballs on a podium behind them. The Suicune moved over to a table and grabbed a sheet of paper, pushing it into his hands. The Professor is sick, I`ll take care of you. You may only have one, take one of the pokemon standing in front or one of the pokeballs behind them. The pokeballs on the podium are a mystery, feeling lucky? The note read as the Suicune sat down, watching him along with the six pokemon.

Spike stepped inside, almost stumbling as a wind seemed to push him forward insistently. He was stopped however, as he felt himself stopped by something pressing into his chest.
Suicune.
MotherFFFFFing Suicune.
Spikes eyes widened as he froze. There was a legendary pokemon sitting there. Right. In. Front. Of. Him. Sitting there calmly and staring at him and he was pretty sure pointing at a note intended for him. This was insane. He had to be dreaming there was no way he was standing here in front of a legendary pokemon on his first day of being a trainer. He wasn't even a trainer yet. He didn't have any pokemon. He didn't even know a ton about pokemon besides the basics, but everyone learned the legendary pokemon in school.
Oh god thats why it was looking at him. He was supposed to be picking a pokemon. That's why he was here. He looked at the note which, he hadn't actually been functioning enough to read the first time he saw it. It was here to oversee him as he picked his starting pokemon.
Spike inched forward, he certainly did not want to trip and fall on his face (as he often did) in front of the legendary canine. He took care with each step and managed to make it all the way to the pen where the various pokemon were all clamoring to meet him. Spike kneeled down, letting them cry and chirp and wiggle over him. He relaxed a bit, the small and eager pokemon easing his thoughts of the stern eyes looking over him.
The Cyndaquil was beautiful, shining fur and it felt warm to the touch, like a comforting fire or a cup of hot coco. Spike gave a hesitant smile and took it up into his arms, standing up.
"Uh, I'd like thi-" Spike began, taking a step forward.
That dritini was a little over zealous and had wound its way around Spike's legs. As he took that step forward his foot snagged around the snake-like pokemon. "Wh-aaAAH!" Spike tipped forwards, tried to catch himself, over compensated, and then tipped backwards, stumbling back. The starters let out small cries and scrambled out of the way as Spike fell... right into the podium containing the mystery pokeballs.
Spike let out a yelp as he crashed rather clumsily into the platform, hitting his head rather nastily on the corner. One of the pokeballs were dislodged, flying into the air and...
Spike heard the woosh of the opening pokeball a moment after it bounced off his forehead, the small button in the center clicking open...

The pokeball burst open and the pokemon inside bounded out, landing gracefully above it's trainer. Opening its eyes, the pokemon looked around before looking down, tilting its head at Spike as it gingerly stepped away to let him sit up. The pokemon around them crowded Spike and this greatly displeased the mystery pokemon at it narrowed it's eyes. "Ziii!" It snapped, scaring the pokemon away from it's trainer while it lowered it's head, offering one of it's green horns to help him up. "Virizion." It muttered to him, urging him to let it help him. Spike's eyes were squeezed shut in pain as the pokeball opened, but he knew his luck well enough to flinch on the floor, expecting some sort've geodude or wailmer to fall onto him...
No such thing came, and Spike felt the small starters crowd around him, only to suddenly disperse as there was a stern "Ziii!" Wait, what kind of pokemon on made a Ziii noise?
Spike felt a warm breath on his chest, and he slowly opened his eyes, feeling the bump throbbing on the back of his head. Two pink eyes met his gaze, and Spike was frozen as he was offered a green horn.
That was definitely not a cyndaquil.
That was in fact, another legendary pokemon staring him in the face.
"Virizion." she murmured soothingly, nudging Spike with her horn.
Spike was too stunned to even move, staring forward blankly without responding to the slender deer's insistant prodding.
Virizion let out a sigh, and then smiled reassuringly at Spike, bending down her graceful neck and taking Spike's shirt gently in her mouth, tugging him slowly up.
"I- y-," Spike couldn't form a proper phrase. He looked over at the Suicune, giving it a look like You're supposed to be overseeing this! Fix it! He had not been prepared for this when he had stepped off the train. But now he was getting very tenderly tugged to his feet by a legendary pokemon. Well, the daughter of a legendary pokemon? As large as she was her fur felt soft, like the down of a newborn bird, and she seemed slightly, gangly, to be fully grown and proportioned.
"I uh... you're... mine?" Spike sputtered out just as Virizion pulled him to his feet, not letting go until she was sure Spike had found his feet fully. She released him, giving him a knowing and very slightly sly smile.
I think I'm her's... was the first thought that popped into Spike's head, with more than a little worry attatched to it.
"Uhhh,"
"Virizion." she said with a smile, giving a nod to Suicune, gently pushing Spike towards the door again, watching his feet carefully.
"I need to name you... you're a plant right? Heather's a plant... that's a nice name right?"
"Viiiii~"

The suicune rolled it's eyes at Spike's look when Heather started ushering him towards the door. The blue dog snorted as she stood up and intercepted the pair before they could get far. "Suicune? Suicune cune suicune." Where do you think YOU'RE going? He needs his equipment first, just a sec. It told the Virizion, ushering Spike back towards the cabinet containing the bags and items he would need. It thrusted another note into his hand and walked back to it's previous spot, yawning. Now that you have your pokemon, choose a bag, a pokedex, and get your starting inventory. Good luck on your journey, young trainer. And don't worry, I won't be far, so if you two get in trouble I`ll assist you. By the way, you may call me Ranny. It read while Ranny the Suicune watched, the unchosen starters going back to their corner to play. X5 X5 x3 x2 x3 x5

"Vi vi Virizion zon viiii. Rizion vi." Oh I am sorry, I assumed he had already gotten everything. Here let me help...Spike moved forward cautiously towards where the items and various pokedexes, only to find Heather moving forward as well. Without saying anything she began picking up the items and packing them into one of the bags. Spike opened his mouth to say something but just watched as the legendary deer neatly packed everything in with her mouth and handed his backpack over to him. "Uh, thanks? Heather?" he said, this whole situation was completely alien. His friends back home were not going to believe him when he said he had met a legendary, let alone that he had been given one. She had even picked a pokedex for him, green to match... well her he supposed. Spike looked down at it quickly, watching as it beeped and registered the pokemon in front of him. Heather looked at him, smiling and waiting expectantly. "Ready to go?" he asked cautiously. Heather nodded eagerly, and nudged his shoulder affectionately. Okay, he just had to treat her like a regular pokemon... she was just like any other pokemon with legendary abilites... Spike smiled awkwardly and patted her nose. She purred and nudged him forward again, guiding him out once again...
