Contest is: Over[/i] Number of Player Entrants: 3 Location: Spree Town Weather: Slightly Overcast, but the stage sand is dry. Prize/s: Spree Ribbon, TM G5 65, Shadow Claw Winner: Azel Enyi Runner Up: Celeste Celeste ran up to the contest building with her pokemon eagerly following her, leaving Lesa and Sawyer to sweatdrop at their friends enthusiasm. Celeste and her pokemon were filled with awe as they observed the sandy stage, which was surprisingly dry despite that rain storm from Becker's Kyogre. She approached Nurse Joy with her contest pass and smiled eagerly. " Celeste reporting for duty! How did the stage get so dry so fast?" She asked as Nurse Joy signed her up. The pokemon doctor smiled as she handed back the girls information to her venipede. "Oh, well you see, Groudon and Kyogre, the titans of legend, they like contests. They help out where it is needed and oversee the Grand Festival. After that tantrum Becker's Kyogre threw, Groudon himself came to the nearby towns that hold contests and dried things up for us with his Drought. It's really helpful." She said as Celeste grinned as widely as her Zorua perched on her head.

Cassie and Arid entered the building and let out a sigh of relief that she had made it on time. After settling her glasses properly and tidying her hair so it didn't look so wild she signaled the Skorupi to stay close and approached the Nurse Joy.
"Hello I'm Cassie, and I would like to sign up for the contest."

Celeste wasn't the only one who was excited. Along the way from Torrentia, they'd picked up another companion, the ever cheerful Azel. He wasn't quite as enthusiastic as his counterpart, chuckling as he watched the girl bound forward and question the local Joy. "That's quite nice of them, to help out like that," he said with a nod, halfway distracted as he dug through his bag. Finally, though, he came up with his coordinator's card, and presented it to the pink-haired woman.
"Azel Enyi, madam, and I'd like to enter this contest as well."

Celeste had just finished getting her pokemon prepped for the contest when it began. Obsidian danced out onto the stage and introduced the judges one at a time, pumping up the crowd and calling the first contestants. They were good, but Celeste knew her pokemon would be better. She had a ton of confidence after seeing the way her pokemon performed, and was all too happy when Obsidian finally called out her name.
"Next entry is Celeste from Thundera City!" She called as the girl burst onto the stage proudly. Grabbing her pokeballs, she tossed them high into the air and beamed.
"Vulpina, Marina, it's showtime!" She said as the respective pokemon emerged from the pokeballs surrounded in her signature rainbow sparks. The two pokemon landed side by side and bowed to the crowd, awaiting orders from their trainer. With a flick of the wrist, Celeste cleared her throat.
"Marina, use Whirlpool!" She called. The mudkip hurried to obey Celeste as she stood up awkwardly on her back legs, calling out as a giant funnel of water appeared above her. Celeste smiled as the water swirled, and she grinned at Vulpina who was vibrating with excitement.
"Jump in Vulpina!" She called. The Zorua leapt up and allowed the water to spin her around and around and around. Laughing all the while, Vulpina was unhurt by the whirlpool as Celeste moved closer.
"Now, Night Daze!" She commanded. Vulpina quickly curled into herself and began swimming towards the center of the rushing water, making the current help her as she made it to the center at the bottom. Her eyes glowed and a red aura covered her, and with a cry her Night Daze burst forth from her, dying the water a deep, glowing red. Vulpina remained in the center of the funnel, her black fur contrasting nicely against the deep red. Celeste could hear the audience "ooo" and "ah" over the scene, but she only smirked.
"We aren't done yet folks, Vulpina, Ice Fang!" She commanded. Suddenly Vulpina disappeared from the whirlpool and emerged underneath it with marina, who was struggling to keep the attack intact. Vulpina's mouth opened wide as her canines grew and glowed light blue. She leapt at the whirlpool and bit it's tail, freezing the entire concoction whole. No longer moving, the frozen red popsicle floated down to Marina's waiting arms.
"Let's use Fury Swipes!" She commanded. Vulpina's mouth closed and she leapt up once more, slashing at the red ice over and over while Marina held it in place with all her might. Vulpina carved away at the ice while Celeste grinned from ear to ear like the Cheshire Meowth. Marina was beginning to lose her grip on the ice when Vulpina ran to her aid, slashing the bottom so that it was able to stand on its own. Vulpina and Marina rejoined their trainer to enjoy their handiwork as the audience gasped. On the center stage was a giant, icy rose flower. The crowd burst into wild applause while the three bowed, retreating to the back stage to let the other contenders move forward while the ice rose was removed from the stage. Celeste winked at Azel while Vulpina snickered behind her.
"Good luck." She chirped, moving to a bench to sit and watch the rest of the performances.

This contest was most definitely smaller than the others he had participated in. Azel chalked it up to the after effects of the angry Kyogre. His tantrum had actually kept the boy himself from entering in the last competition, stranding him just outside of Torrentia city while deep below the waters all of his competitors danced and sparkled their way closer to one more ribbon. Oh, well. There really wasn't any use in getting upset about it. The past was in the past, and this contest was right here in front of him!
He tossed a wink back in Celeste's direction as she came back from her own performance, which was quite good, even if he did say so himself, and then set about double checking the two capsules and stickers he'd set on his pokeballs. Everything was set and ready. Now it just needed to be his turn. It seemed to take forever, but eventually, Obsideon was calling out his name, and Azel grinned.
Excitement pumped through him as he bounded out onto the stage, waving to the crowd and bouncing around in small circles, unable to contain the energy within his body. For a few simple seconds he stood absolutely still, letting the suspense build, before he tossed out his hands, ending with a flick of his wrist. The motion sent his signature red ribbons flying, and the snap sent the pokeballs within spinning into the air. With a small 'pop' the two balls opened, spewing a black fog and a shower of small yellow lightning bolts, revealing his two contestants in the midst of an angry black storm cloud.
The first to land was a cyndaquil, who seemed to drag the smoke down with her bright blue flames. She stood, her fire big and bright, and glared up above her where a second shadow was moving, the blue streak playfully floating around in the disappearing the storm was fully faded out, he floated down to settle beside the cyndaquil.
"Excellent entrance, you two!" Azel called to them, clapping his hands together. "Now, let's get things started! Sora, use lava plume!"
The cyndaquil roared, lifting herself up on her hind legs as her flame flared bright, and slammed her front legs down into the sand. For a few seconds, nothing seemed to happen, but then a soft rumbling started a few feet away, in the deepest part of the sand, and without warning a pillar of fire spewed from under the ground. It didn't last long, but then again,it didn't really need to, for the lava had been hot and right on target. When the flames died away, they left behind a pillar of glass, melted by the fire in the same way a lightning strike on a beach creates glass.
"Perfect! Your turn Yamato! Use transform!" The mew simply blinked and began to twirl, until in a flash of light he stopped, and in the place of a blue mew stood a red and white Victini. "Now, Sora! Lava plume again! Yamato, use psychic!"
The two worked in perfect tandem, focusing their attacks on the pillar of glass. Sora melted it again and Yamato shaping the melted glass. Suddenly, though, Sora bolted forward at an unspoken command from her trainer, and plunged herself straight into the lava and glass mixture. In a moment, the lava fell away, and in it's place was a large glass sculpture of a charizard, wings outstretched and jaws open in perpetual roar. In the middle of the sculpture, clear as anything in the opaque glass, was Sora, her blue flame burning bright and dancing through the figure, her light bouncing off the glass like light from a chandelier, making it look as if the charizard glowed with a brilliant aura.
But it seemed they weren't quite done yet. "Now Yamato! Use psychic again!" The mew turned Victini nodded and focused on the glass charizard, and suddenly it lifted off the ground several feet and tilted to the side. It hovered that way for several seconds, Sora still encased inside, and then suddenly it zoomed off, the victini sitting between it's wings. The charizard circled the arena several times, as if it had come to life and was flying all on it's own.
After a few laps, it settled back into the stage where it had been, and the victini jumped off, floating back to his trainer and turning back into his usual mew form with another flash of light. "Alright Sora! Time to wrap this up. Use rollout!"
From within the sculpture, the blue fire suddenly burned brighter, surrounding the cydaquil until she was nothing but a blue ball of flame, spinning faster and hotter with each passing second. The charizard began to melt from the inside out, the liquid glass catching in her flame and throwing glittering rainbows all through the arena until there was nothing but fire and liquid glass.
At that moment, the fire seemed to grow even hotter, and the mixture exploded into a shower of sparks, sending a cloud of sparkling sand up into the air. As the cyndaquil jumped from her rollout and landed easily in the sand pit, she was showered in glittering sand that slowly settled around her, leaving the performance area as pristine and beautiful as it had been when they came, if a bit more eye catching in that one patch of sand.
Azel grinned and bounded out to pick up the cyndaquil, mew on his shoulder as he bowed first to the judges, then to the audience. With one final wave, he turned and hurried back stage to await the results.

As her time grew closer Cassie rushed to make Oasis‘s fur to sit properly. He had s stubborn cowlick ion top of his head that refused to lay flat. “Well I guess it just makes you more endearing. She returned her Pokemon to their balls and took a deep breath before steping onto the stage.
She smiled before shouting, “Oasis, Arid show them what your made of!” Cassie flung the balls high in the air. The balls popped open with small black hearts circling her two Pokemon.
Arid and Oasis flipped out of the air and landed in the middle of all the hearts. “Arid twineedle.” Cassie called out. Arid took aim and blasted the hearts apart with his twineedle attack clearing the field before scuttling forward to the very front of the stage. Once there he turned to his partner.
Cassie called out the next move. “Oasis water gun.” Oasis nodded and fired a Water gun up into the air at an angle letting it arch out in a sheet of water that landed right before Arid. “Now Poison sting Arid. Start with Espeon.”
Arid fired into the constant stream of water held by Oasis. Under his careful aim a picture formed in the water of an Espeon sitting elegantly as the Poison sting tore holes in the water. Then the picture was quickly washed away. Cassie called out more Pokemon Arid quickly formed them in the water. A Pikachu jumping up with joy. A Mightyena howling towards a moon. A Ponyta reared up on its hind legs.
“Last one Arid! Do a Skitty.” Cassie called out. Arid nodded and Oasis thumped his tail signaling that he heard as well. Arid took aim once again and formed an adorable skitty chasing its tail in the sheet of water.
With the last picture Oasis aimed his Watergun straight up and blasted the falling water with a Sonicboom spreading it into a fine mist. With the overcast sky there wasn’t much light but there was just enough to form a light rainbow over the three contestens as they took their bows.

After all the coordinators made their appeals, Obsidian joined the judges to get the results. Celeste waited backstage with her pokemon, brushing Vulpina's fur with butterfree flying in her tummy.
"You two did so great! No matter what the results, I am so proud of you both." She gushed, hugging Vulpina and Marina to her. As everyone spoke in a quiet whisper in the room, Ming-ming the stunky stared at the screen intently, pointing up at it.
"Everyone hush! Obsidian is back on!" She called. The coordinators all went silent as the MC appeared with her joyous grin.
"The judges have made their decision! These lucky eight coordinators go on to the next stage!" She said as the screen wiped to a scoreboard. One by one, the pictures appeared. Celeste rolled her eyes as Azel's appeared first.
"Figures, how could he NOT get first place with that glass charizard?" She mumbled. Ming-ming smacked the coordinator roughly and Celeste yelped, glaring at the stunky.
"Shut up! Look! You made it!" She said. Celeste blinked as she looked up, seeing her name third on the list. She beamed profusely as she picked up her pokemon, spinning around with them.
"Thank you thank you thank you! Vulpina, Marina! you guys are the best!" She yipped. The zorua and mudkip happily chirped along with her, the trio hugging each other tightly.
One by one, every competitor fell until Celeste and Azel found themselves on either side of the battlefield. Celeste grinned at the boy as Obsidian danced onto the stage.
"This is the final battle for the ribbon! These two coordinators have a limited time to take out their opponents points to zero with stunning and powerful attacks. With five minutes on the clock, begin!" She said as Celeste pulled out her pokeballs.
"If I win, you have to take me out to dinner." She said with a wink as she tossed her pokeballs.
"Pendra, Nuna, it's showtime!" She called as both pokemon appeared. Nuna the treecko stood tall on Pendra the venipede's back, both eager to win.

Oh, well would you look at that! Azel smiled, quite satisfied with himself when he saw himself up on that screen. "You two did wonderfully," he said quietly, rubbing his fingers over Yamato's and Sora's fur. He was also pleasantly surprised to find that his new travelling companion popped up in the list of competitors movie on. With a grin, he returned his friends to their balls and walked over to Celeste, clapping his hands together a few times. "Good job, lovely! I look forward to seeing you in the final round!" He gave her a wink and then there was no more time to talk, for the battles were beginning.
Of course, he didn't realize just how right he was! So imagine Azel's surprise when he actually did end up face to face with the girl in the final stage. "Well, well, well. But of course, madam! It would only be fair to reward such talent! Ah, but if I should win, you must do me the honor of accompanying me to the celebratory dinner!" Essentially, she'd get what she wanted either way. Wasn't he nice?
"Now let's get this started! Mimi, Izzy! It's your time!"
The lugia and treeko burst forth and landed gracefully, though Azel gave them no time to savor their entrance. "Mimi, use gust! Izzy, crush claw!"
[RESULT: 7] +1 Type Advantage
The gust attack hit Nuna full on.
[RESULT: 8] +1 Damage to Pendra for all attacks

Nuna and Pendra cried out at the attacks thrown at them, and Celeste gritted her teeth at the critical hits. Yep, there was a reason Azel got first place while she was fifth. She looked rather defeated already, until she saw the determination in Pendra's eyes. She smirked at the pokemon and shook her head.
"You're right Pendra, we're not giving up so easily. Use Rollout!" She called, and the pokemon immediately curled up and began rolling towards Mimi while Nuna and Izzy glared at each other.
"Meet his crush claw with your own Nuna!" She said, and the treecko's claw glowed as she ran forward, intending to slash her target.
[RESULT: 6] Super Effective +1
[RESULT: 2]
Though Pendra got a relatively nice hit with her attack, Nuna miscalculated where her opponent would be, doing minimal damage to the other Treecko.

A soft whistle escaped Azel at the sudden rollout attack. He hadn't quite been expecting that, but that was the fun of these types of things, wasn't it? The boy brought his hands together in a quiet clap, applauding her determination. It only fueled his own even more. "You alright, Mimi?" he asked softly, glancing at his treeko long enough to see that he had neatly sidestepped the brunt of the attack. Good, good.
Lugia, in turn, shook herself and roared with frustration. How dare a little pipsqueak bug attack her! Hmph! "Mimi, use whirlwind!"
[RESULT: 5] +1 Super effective +1 Crush Claw effect
It wasn't quite as good as her first attack, was it? But thanks to the crush claw, it was decent enough.
Now it was Izzy's turn to attack. "Dragon breath!"
[RESULT: 4]
Not the best of hits, was it? Oh well.

Pendra got knocked back even more by the enraged legendary's attack, but she continued to spin as she rushed forward to make a second hit, and Celeste had to make a decision.
"Nuna, help Pendra! Push her with Dragonbreath into Mimi!" She called as the treecko leaped back, firing a pinkish blue flame at the pokemon to combine their attack
[RESULT: 3] Rollout +1, Super effective +1
[RESULT: 7] Dragonbreath Paralyzes Mimi
Celeste grinned as her combination worked, although Nuna's Dragonbreath flew past Pendra instead of hitting her to give speed, it helped all the same. The girl crossed her arms and grinning at Azel proudly.
"Not bad, huh? Type isn't everything I guess." She said teasingly.

All of the good natured rivalry slipped off of Azel's face as he watched his opponent gang up on one of his pokemon. It was a strategy that only the weak used, and he shook his head, respect for the girl gone. "I retract my offer of dinner," he said simply, turning his attention to the poor creature who had just gotten double teamed. "Mimi, they say type isn't everything while using a type based attack to get an advantage over you. Let's show them the truth of those words. Dragon rush."
[RESULT: 4]
She tried, but unfortunately the underhanded trick of their opponent had worked enough to paralyse her. "Don't worry. Next round."
He turned to Izzy and nodded just slightly. "Izzy. Crush claw on the treeko."
[RESULT: 6] +1 Damage to Nuna each round
The treeko returned the attack, putting more power behind it to make up for Mimi's inability to move.

Nuna cried out as she was thrown back by the devastating attack, and Celeste gritted her teeth, Azel's words biting into her as well. She shook her head rapidly, trying to keep her concentration as she looked at her wounded pokemon.
"Pendra, protect Nuna with Bug Buzz!" She called. The venipede's eyes glowed as her antennae vibrated, producing red waves before compressing them into a beam, firing it at Izzy.
[RESULT: 5] Super effective +1
Though strong, it wasn't strong enough to immobilize Izzy as much as Celeste would have hoped. Perhaps her emotions were affecting their attacks? Celeste struggled to pull herself together as she looked at Nuna.
"Nuna, stay away from them, you can't take another direct hit! Use Dragonbreath again on Mimi." She called as her weakened pokemon tried to execute the attack.
[RESULT: 2]
Her breath caught in her throat, causing the pokemon to cough a little, but Nuna was still able to get some form of attack in. Celeste sighed and looked down, mentally apologizing to her pokemon over and over, trying to cling to the hope she could pull off a win, more for their sake than anything.

The bug type attack made Azel flinch for his treeko's sake, though he seemed to shake it off without too much of a problem. Good, good. He was still standing strong. "You can do it, Izzy. Show them the true meaning of type advantage isn't everything, considering all she can do is use type advantage. Crush claw one more time!"
[RESULT: 6] +1 Crush Claw effect
And the treeko did just that, knocking the bug type back with one final hard blow. Azel nodded to himself, pleased with his companion.
"Good. Mimi, try a Dragon Rush one more time for me, okay?"
[RESULT: 5]
It seemed it was enough. Never challenge a determined lugia. Azel nodded again and jogged out, gently running his hands over his companions to make sure no real damage was done to them. "Don't worry guys," he said, recalling both into the pokeballs. "I'll get you to the pokemon center just as soon as I can.

Celeste dejectedly recalled her pokemon, thanking them for trying their hardest before placing the pokeballs back on her belt. She tried to put on a happy face for the audience as she retreated offstage. "Great battle Azel. You earned that ribbon and TM." She said as she left, running when she thought she was out of view. Meanwhile, back at the stage, Mr. Contesta and Obsidian were far from the melancholy feelings Celeste held as they approached their contest winner. Mr. Contesta shook Azel's hand as he held out the cushion with the ribbon and TM on it. "Congratulations on your victory young man. That was a spectacular dislay of power you showed us. We hope your future endeavors are as fruitful as this one." Said the man with a smile as Obsidian turned to the crowd. "And that wraps up another exciting pokemon contest! We hope you all join us at the next competition! See you later everyone!" Said the MC. Ming-ming the stunky sighed as she looked up sympathetically at her trainer, who stared intently at the screen as Azel took his ribbon. Ming-ming cradled the red and white egg of Celeste's against her side with her tail just as Celeste looked down after the screen went blank and the other coordinators left. "He's really good with his pokemon, I`m way out of his league. The power, the beauty, the control. Why do I lack that? I always thought that working together was the way to go, and yet, I continue to let you guys down." Celeste sighed. Ming-ming reached a paw out and poked Celeste's thigh, bringing the trainer's attention. "You aren't letting us down. We could lose a hundred times over and still believe in you. I don't know what it is we are missing, but it isn't trust." Celeste pulled out a pokeball and looked at the stunky with blank eyes. "Did you see the way he looked at me? ...I need to be alone Ming-ming, I`m sorry." She said, recalling the Stunky who put up no fight as the red beam pulled her in. Celeste grabbed her white egg and hugged it tightly, exiting the building without waiting for her friends. If nothing else, they would meet up in the Quakita pokemon center, and by then, Celeste hoped she would have her thoughts sorted. Ribbon and TM obtained: Azel: Spree Town Ribbon: TM G5 65, Shadow Claw
