With a potential friend departed and one still remaining Auric looked on at Ian and his Pokemon while shooting glances down to the pokeball in his own hand. Zanshin the Elgyem still rested inside the purple ball. He looked over at Ian and smirked, "So, you say you're not big on battling, Ian? Any particular reason?" The trainer tossed his purple pokeball into the air a time or two, catching it without looking. His eyes stuck on the dragon and the little crocodile pokemon that Ian had let out next to him.
"I think your friend there may have some anger issues, or maybe he's just lonely deep down?" Auric asked while motioning towards the Druddigon as it was still standing in the dirt circle it had drawn. A few tattered leaves lay just outside of the circle, along with the shredded pieces of others. "He looks like he could really do some damage if you let him. I think you should give battling a shot sometime, but I wouldn't force you into it." He shrugged and caught his own pokeball one more time before holding it at his side. "I'm following Route 801 from Dust Town. If you're headed that way we can travel together at least for that long, eh?"

"I'm just really reluctant to let him fight right now. I don't think I can keep him under control, so I'd prefer to just stay out of fights," Ian said, watching as Druddigon stomped around, his tail swinging behind him as he watched the two trainers closely. "Besides, I'm a breeder. I don't think there's much call for battle in my job."

Auric listened in silence and then nodded to Ian, putting Zanshin's Pokeball back on his own belt. "Well, if that's how you feel then that's fine. I wouldn't force anyone to enter a match." He relaxed himself a bit and let his arms drop to his sides. "Breeding? Isn't it true that the strongest Pokemon breed stronger offspring?" He asked with a tad bit of curiosity.
He shrugged and walked over next to Ian, grinning slyly. "Either way, I'll be happy to travel with you. If we encounter some wild ones I can battle them if you don't want to. Besides, I'll need the practice if I'm going to challenge all of Varaia's gyms."

"I guess so," Ian said with a sigh. He didn't really know much about it so he decided to just go along with it for now. Looking around for his Totodile, he heard a faint sound from up above. Looking up, he saw the Pokemon in question hanging onto a branch in a tree above him. Not bothering to question when or how she'd gotten up there, he simply called to her to come down. Unfortunately, she decided to do that by jumping and landing on top of Ian.

Auric's attention was grabbed by the sound of the tree rustling a bit above as well, and he let out a hearty chuckle as the Totodile plopped down from the branches onto the poor breeder like he was a cushioned landing pad. "Having a hard time? I guess I can see that being the case with any new Pokemon. I'm actually not sure how mine will act with me..." With that, Auric paused. He hadn't really thought of his Pokemon's feelings on the matter at all. Being partnered with him wasn't the worst case scenario, he thought, but then some might disagree. He couldn't fathom why, as he thought rather highly of himself, but as with all things there will be someone who hates it.
He shook his head and started walking further along route 801 away from Dust Town. "So, Ian, what are your plans? I don't know a lot about breeding, so I'm curious as to why you're traveling." He wasn't trying to be nosey or rude. Just wanting to know what would make such a mild mannered fellow go out on such a potentially dangerous and lengthy venture if he didn't have to.
