Gauge sighed as he looked off the dock, rubbing the back of his head. Having to cross the rest of Torrentia's lake was absolutely absurd in one way, yet, it also provided a good way to observe how pokemon in this area reacted to such close human interaction as well as how they went about their environment. Although he wouldn't admit it, he wished his test with Becker had lasted just a bit longer. The underwater haven was... astounding. He'd never seen or heard of anything else like it. Even though he'd only met one of Varaia's breeder heads so far, the Tornadra native decided that the rest of them would have to make miracles happen if they hoped to impress him nearly as much as she had.
Nevertheless, if he wanted to meet more of them, he'd have to get started. Gauge sat on the edge of the dock and made sure everything was in order, nodding to himself afterward. All that was left were his pokemon, which shouldn't have been a problem - Ipswich would be his ferry across the water, and Kalkaska would sit on his head and battle in the water to gain some experience. But... with Chinook, everything was a problem.
Said Vulpix was glaring into the water and pacing furiously back and forth, all six of her tails twitching in unison as she tried to figure out what to do. She despised being in that pokeball, but... water. Growling at herself, she was further infuriated when she noticed Gauge's Winter Vaporeon watching her curiously, visibly calm for the first time since he'd joined the party, all because he was so amused by Chinook's antics. Silly fire types. The water was fun! To try and prove it, he stood, puffing out his chest and lifting his finned tail high before walking forward and... flopping right into the lake. Oops. He thought he had more boardwalk left before he was supposed to jump in... When he resurfaced, Gauge frowned and wiped the water from his face, Chinook peeking out from behind him angrily.
"That idiot dog-thing! I have no idea why you keep him around" she hissed, spitting in his direction. Gauge shrugged.
"To keep pokemon like you in line, I suppose." The Vulpix raised a paw in mockery, pretending like her feelings were hurt. But before she could reply, Gauge spoke again. "You're stalling and we've wasted enough time sitting here as it is. If you want to see land again, I suggest you just submit and stay in your pokeball." This time, the little fox actually seemed shocked, and when she was withdrawn, she remained there. Kalkaska jumped on his head and snickered, earning a pat from the breeder. Well, at least his Zorua could behave relatively well.
Finally, Gauge himself slipped into the water, making sure to not go down too far - he was still wearing his hat, after all, and there was a pokemon on top of that. Ipswich 'derped' as Gauge held on loosely to his shoulders, the teen irritably watching over his own at his companion. Oh, right. That girl Akira was still hanging around.

Watching as Gauge prepared to cross the lake, Akira released Mio, who began running about in a circle cheerfully. "Alright, calm down. I need you to help me or I could drown," she told the Growlithe, sighing at the fact that she still had to talk in rhymes whenever she talked. For the time being, she'd just decided to avoid speaking as much as possible. Watching Mio jump into the water, she followed after, grabbing hold of her Pokemon tightly as she did.

Gauge arched a brow as the blue Growlithe jumped into the water, followed by Akira. He wasn't so sure about the Growlithe in the first place, since it was blue and all, but... was it really that adept to the water? Color change didn't dictate and type change, or at least, he was relatively sure of that fact. Frowning, Ipswich suddenly took off, swimming at a decent speed across the lake, avoiding any particularly bubbly places where pokemon might be for the time being.
"So uh... you're a breeder, right? Are you so sure he likes the water?" Gauge asked, still not terribly eager to start a conversation. But, after all, it was for the pokemon...

"Mio's not a he, and she loves the sea," Akira replied as Mio panted happily as they swam across the lake. Admittedly, she had no idea why her Growlithe was so cheerful in the water or why she was blue for that matter. Still, she didn't have any other water Pokemon, so she was thankful that she at least had Mio. "Is your Vaporeon alright? I didn't know they came in white."
