Andrew walked out of the city holding Dratini's ball. Their first meeting in the lab hadn't been exactly...encouraging. After all, he'd reached out to the small dragon type and she'd slapped his hand away with her tail, then gone back to her ball. He wondered if the dragon was just solitary, or if she didn't like him. It made him worry that maybe he should have chosen the Charmander....
As they walked down Route 801, Andrew looked over at his companion and said,"So.....Heaven...uh......where do you come from? I'm....I'm from Cerulean City. Y-you know.....in Kanto?"
A slight flush crept into his face as he spoke to her, not because he liked her necessarily, but just because he was always shy around girls. He'd been homeschooled, and since he was 10 he hadn't really had any friends. That just made talking to others difficult for him sometimes. Even so, he was glad he'd finally run away from his home in Cerulean City, away from his mother who was always, constantly pushing him to do his studies and go to school for everything.

Heaven had been trying, and failing to suppress a smile ever since she had left with Voodoo clutched in her arms. She had a feeling that the little dark fox pokemon was going to be rather spoiled by her. So far, other then to pick up her bag and dex, she hadn't let him down to walk on his own. She knew he wasn't a doll she could cart around, but she was determined to make friends with her little fox as quickly as she could.
"I'm from Blizzara Town, way up north. I only came down this way so i could pick up my starter before starting the gym circuit. I had to put it off for a long time, but now I can finally start." A small, sad smile graced her face as she allowed her green and black bangs to slide in front of her brown eyes. Even though she couldn't cry over Nana and Crissa anymore, it still hurt to think about them so soon.
Heaven cleared her throat loudly, causing Voodoo to look up at her. The look on his face spoke volumes. Was that really necessary? his look seemed to say, before he glanced back at the passing scenery.
"So, are you planning on being a dragon trainer? Or are you going to specialize at all? Me, I'm planning on catching however many pokemon I can, befriend them all, and then make it past the Pokemon league. I'd love to have my own gym, but I dunno if I'd like getting beat by trainers and giving out badges."

"Taillow!" a sudden cry was heard on the route the two trainers were walking along. From out of some brush a terrified Caterpie came running out as fast as all his little legs would allow him. He was fleeing from something, obviously. That something swooped down low and was beginning to dive bomb at the poor little bug pokemon before it noticed the trainer duo. The Tailow suddenly landed on the ground and looked at the duo curiously, Caterpie doing so as well. Andrew listened to Heaven answer his question and then ask some of her own. Before she even mentioned the pokemon league, he knew how to answer them all. He thought back to his dad and how he'd dreamed of becoming the champion of every region, and how it was now his responsibility to fulfill his father's dreams for him.
"I'm not going to be a dragon trainer," he told her quietly,"I picked Dratini because they're native to my home region of Kanto. As for what I want to do....I'm going to beat every pokemon league out there. I just started her because....well, it's furthest from home."
He didn't want to dump all of his problems on her, not after they'd just met. Looked over at Heaven and how she and her Zorua were getting along great, and then looked down at Dratini's ball. Thinking about her made him kind of depressed. He never thought his first pokemon would hate him right off the bat. He wondered what his father would think if he could have seen how the Dratini had greeted him as her new trainer.
His thoughts were soon interrupted by the very distinctive screech of a taillow. Andrew froze in place and looked in the direction it came, and then all of a sudden a caterpie burst from the grass, followed by the taillow. The two wild pokemon froze when they saw the trainers, the taillow considering the two of them from the air.
Andrew pulled out Dratini's ball and tossed it, the dragon type emerging with a yawn.
"Dratini, use WRAP on that Taillow! Protect the caterpie from it!"
The dragon type turned back to glare at Andrew, but then grudgingly obeyed his command, launching forward at the low flying bird in order to wrap herself around it....

Heaven was about to respond to Andrew when a screech split the air. She quickly glanced up, black and green bangs whipping across her face in the process. "Holy Houndooms, what was that?" "Zorua, Zou!" <It looks like there might be trouble.>
A frown marred her face as she watched the Taillow chase the Caterpie onto their path. She didn't like to see people or pokemon being pick on, but right here was the perfect chance to try and catch her first pokemon! She quickly set Voodoo down on the ground, a grin slowly forming. "Voodoo! Use-" She scowled as Andrew sent his Dratini into battle against the Taillow.
"You stop the Tailow, Andrew! The Caterpie is mine. Ready Voodoo?" "Zorua." <Of course I am.> The small fox said with a nod as he readied himself for an attack. " Alright, Voodoo, use pursuit!"
[RESULT: Miss] It didn't do any damage! Voodoo HP: 27/27 Caterpie HP: 15/15
-------- "Tailow!" The bird screeched loudly as the Dratini used wrap on it. The attack hit hard. "Low!" the Tailow responded before attacking the Dratini with peck.

The Caterpie was terrified. First the Taillow, now the Zorua. Caterpie was getting the heck out of dodge. Not long after it scuttled away, a Weedle showed up. He looked at the fox curiously before deciding to engage it in battle. He gave a ready stance. He could take this fox! "Tini!" Dratini screamed out as the Taillow's beak pecked at her side. The bird was still wrapped up, so it he couldn't do much in the way of injury towards her, but it still hurt.
"Keep it up Dratini! Keep using wrap!" Andrew said, pulling a pokeball from his back pack. As he did, Dratini just looked at him and glared. Then, she reared back and, still keeping the bird firmly wrapped up, unleashed a DRAGON PULSE right into the bird.
[RESULT: 5] +1 from Wrap's effect
Dratini: 22/23
Taillow: 0/15

Heaven growled slightly as she watched the Caterpie dash away in fear. "Dang it! I wanted that Caterpie! Oh well, good effort Voodoo." "Zor, rua" <I'll get the next one>
Heaven sighed, pushed her bangs out of her eyes and watched as Andrew's Dratini knocked the Taillow out with a well place Dragon Pulse. She was about to bend over and pick up Voodoo, when she noticed the Weedle that had approached the Zorua, ready for a battle. She smirked. It looked like she might be able to get her first Pokemon today after all.
The small fox watched as the Weedle readied himself for battle. The Zorua scoffed slightly. "Zor!" he called out in challenge as he waited for his trainer's command.
"Alright Voodoo, use scratch!" Heaven's brown eyes were sparkling with the thrill of battle. This time, this time for sure, she would catch her first pokemon! She was just so sure of it.
Voodoo launched himself at the Weedle, claws outstretched to attack.
[RESULT: 1]
The attack landed this time, thought it did very little damage.

As dratini unwrapped herself from around the unconscus Taillow, Andrew turned his attention over to Heaven's battle with the Caterpie. The Caterpie had turned tail and run at the first sign of attack by the Zorua. That was some bad luck. A Weedle soon emerged, however, and challenged the other new trainer and her pokemon. Zorua launched an attack that did hit, but only just barely. The Weedle reacted aggressively and, before the Zorua could run out of striking distance, it launched forward with it's head barb for a POISON STING attack.
[RESULT: 1]
It looked to Andrew like Heaven would be catching her first pokemon here soon, but Dratini's defiant nature had already messed up his chance with the Taillow. He really wished she would be more receptive to him.
"Do you hate me, Dratini?" He said, sitting next to the small dragon where she'd coiled herself on the ground. She looked at him after a few moments of silence and shook her small head,"then why do you act like it?"
A quietly muttered "tini" was his only response....

Heaven cried out when Voodoo was struck by the Weedle's poison bard. She gritted her teeth, fists clenched. Now, more then ever, she was determined to catch this pokemon. No one was going to hurt Voodoo and get away with it, not if she had anything to say about it.
The Zorua fell back slightly, hurt by the attack. "Zorua, Zor." <Now, I'm serious.> He growled slightly as he pulled himself back up and readied for the next attack.
"Use pursuit, Voo!" Heaven commanded, her voice harsh with anger and worry.
[RESULT: 8] Voodoo HP: 26/27 Weedle HP: 6/15
The attack this time, was a strong one. Heaven cheered happily as Voodoo's attack landed. "Go Voo! Now, it's my turn." With that, she pulled a pokeball from her bag and tossed it at the Weedle.

"Woohoo! Great job Voodoo! You're amazing!" Heaven said happily as the pokeball closed over the Weedle. The little fox Pokemon calmly began to make his way back over to his trainer. "Zorua, Zor, Zor-" < I said i'd do better thi-> He was quickly cut off as his trainer scooped him up in her arms, hugging him tightly to her chest. "I did the right thing when I picked you earlier!" She said with a broad grin on her face. 'Zor" <Ouch...>
She hummed to herself as she walked over to retrieve the fallen Pokeball, storing it away in the special pouch in her bag. "Ok, one down, four left to go. I think we can handle that, Voodoo. Now, for a name for our newest addition." Heaven considered various different names that she could call her new Pokemon. "I think I'll call him Sting."
Heaven turned back to Andrew, shifting Voodoo to rest on her shoulder so she could have her hands free. 'Bad luck with the Taillow. It looked like you'd be able to catch it there for a moment." She shrugged lightly, ignoring the protest from Voodoo at the sudden movement. "Oh, what are you calling your Dratini, anyways? Are you going to name her?"

Andrew couldn't help but grin as he saw Heaven successfully catch the Weedle. The worm pokemon would make a good addition to her team, he thought. He quckly got to his feet and dusted the dirt from his pants. Now he was determined to capture a wild pokemon.
"C'mon, Dratini, let's go find us some wild pokemon to capture," he said, motioning for the little dragon to follow him, which she did reluctantly.
Andrew looked over at Heaven as she asked him about what he'd call Dratini. He thought about it a moment and then answered.
"I don't think i'm going to nickname my pokemon," he said, still walking and looking for more wilds,"at least, not until we get some badges. It'll be a sort of incentive, you know?"

Galloping could be heard in the distance, far down Route 801. But over the course of a short period of time, the galloping got louder and louder and closer and closer. The source of the noise wasn't in sight at all. If anyone looked around, they wouldn't be able to tell where it was really coming from. In due time, however, the source would be revealed. Slowly a large cloud of dust could be seen.
The dust was covering whatever it was that created it. All that could be seen, once it got closer, was a dark shadow in the midst of the cloud of dust. The galloping noise was now upon the trainer duo. The cloud of dust grew closer and closer to them before finally passing them. Some distance off ahead of them, the shadow in the midst of the dust finally stood still. Slowly, the shadow began to take form as the dust began to slowly settle around the still form.
The form seemed to be some kind of horse-like creature. The creature lowered it's head down to the ground. Atop it, could be seen a form sitting on it. The dust eventually settled and the horse-like creature raised it's head. "Pooooonyta" she cried out. The form sitting atop her was a rather young man. He leaned down at petted her side.
The two were obviously close. Ponyta's flames left no burns on this young man. "Good job, Ponyta." he said. Then he hopped off Ponyta. He stood beside her and began petting Ponyta. A grin crossed his features as he seemed to think to himself quietly for a moment. Finally he spoke again to his beloved Pokemon. "We won! I knew we would. I told her you were not to be underestimated. Hmmmm." He said, in an excited tone.
It took him a moment, but he wanted to glance down the path to see where his competition was. He had to have competition, right? His words seemed to allude to that, after all. Though he was quick to divert his attention to something else. There were spectators? He placed a hand on Ponyta and began walking toward the duo. "Well hi there. My name's Pegasus. Hmmmm. Hope I didn't startle y'all. Ponyta and I kinda get into the zone, ya know? But woohoo! What say you two? Startin' on your Pokemon journeys are ya? Hmmmm?" he began talking the duo up.
However, his eyes suddenly settled on the female of the group. He gave a slight grin, before walking toward her and taking her hand in his. "Why pardon my manners, Miss. I didn't realize such a beautiful young thang was amidst our presence. I sure do hope me and Ponyta didn't do anything to harm ya or scare ya too bad" he told her. Wow, this guy was apparently quite the gentleman.

"Davis...? DAVIS. WHAT THE HECK! NO NO NO, THAT WAY! NOT IN THE...!"
Too late.
Suddenly, a rather fluffy pony-ish figure leapt off of a small incline, sailing past trees and rocks and even pokemon as he and what appeared to be a person on his back sailed through the air, the musketeer landing hard on the ground below and jostling the girl.
"...holler." The figure swallowed down a whimper and growled under her breath, pressing her knees against the Keldeo as she attempted to hold on for dear life at this point. "I swear, ever since we got outta Sinnoh you've been actin' like some sorta freak 'a nature. Didja forget we're in a race here?!" Davis was still running hard, Tolouse trying her best to redirect her pokemon via the reigns in her hands. It wasn't very effective. It took quite a while before they actually found Pegasus and Ponyta, but when they did, both of them were a mess. Sticks and twigs were poking out of both Keldeo's mane and her hair, although he looked to be much happier about it than he did.
"I don't know WHAT got inta him... but it better get out before they open the races" Tolouse started, heaving herself off of the pokemon and groaning. "Gah, my backside! Consider yourself lucky, Peggy boy. You 'n that Ponyta'll be left behind in the dust next time!" She was seriously holding herself back from getting any angrier than tapping her foot and balling her fists up, and it was a miracle she could pull her flaming eyes off of the tall racer to see the two other trainers.
"Uh... who're y'all?"
