After winning his second gym badge, Lee felt it was time to press the pause button on his Pokemon journey. He had traveled all the way to Torrentia, and now he was heading right back to Dust Town. In fact, he was very close to Dust Town now. Lee and the gang were now on Route 801, nearing Dust Town with every step they took.
Lee had promised his family that he'd come back and visit them every once in awhile. He didn't want to be like his father, a man who showed up very rarely at all. His mom would surely be happy to see him. He was excited to show her the badges he had earned so far. There hadn't been a Pokemon trainer in their family before. His father was a coordinator, and that was it. The twins, he could picture them playing with the various Pokemon on his team.
Lee suddenly got the mental image of his Charmeleon burning their house down and decided it was best if she were left in her pokeball. The rest of his team, however, was friendly enough. Especially his starter Pokemon. Vincent was trailing happily behind Lee. The bug Pokemon didn't see a lot of action but he was faithful and lovable all the same.
He also began thinking how his family would react to his friends and interact with them. Akira seemed rather quiet and reserved, while Mik was...well, Mik was odd. He was sure, however, that his friends and his family would get along just fine. Knowing the twins, they would just pester them with all sorts of questions. He now found himself looking at the two badges he had earned. It felt like just yesterday that he had started this journey and here he was with two gym badges.
For both gym battles, he never needed more than two Pokemon. For the first gym battle, he only used Maverick. Maverick was a Pikachu given to him by his father through some trainer that had met him along Route 801. The electric mouse proved to be useful as his father said he would be. But it wasn't just for the first gym he was useful for either. Maverick also had a type advantage against the second gym battle. Lee had to switch up and use Duke for a little while, but yet again Maverick won him the battle.
But the message his father sent was bothering him. Maverick was useful for the first two gyms. So...what type was the third? Why would Maverick not be useful for the third gym? Was it that he would no longer have the type advantage with Maverick or was it that Maverick would have the type disadvantage on him? Lee thought about it as he walked ahead. Whatever the case, it seemed for the third gym battle that he'd have to change up which Pokemon he used. But since Lee didn't know the gym type yet, there was no way he could think of which Pokemon to use.
He sighed to himself as he continued walking. Boy did he have a lot on his mind! He glanced back at the rest of his traveling crew to make sure they were still there. Little did Lee know this seemingly simple journey back home would be anything but that. Things were about to get much more complicated.

Mikhail had to admit that he was slightly taken aback when Lee asked Akira and himself to accompany him on a small trip back to Dust Town. It wasn't that he didn't appreciate the teen's offer or anything, but... going back to his home to visit his family? That sounded like a more personal affair to him. Sure, he guessed he would have accepted the invitation more willingly if they were going back to visit the Professor or something, but yeah. Was it not normal for him to feel a little wary in visiting someone else's family that you'd never met before?
Maybe Mik was overthinking it. All he knew that he barely felt comfortable around his own relatives, let alone anyone else. So as they traveled, he decided to stay near the back of the group, rubbing the back of his head and smiling sheepishly when Lee glanced back.
"Boww?" Really? Snubbull said, glancing up at Mik with crossed arms in disdain. The trainer shrugged and kicked at a pebble.
"What? Rule number one on this trip - no judging. Have some manners, Snubbull." The fairy pokemon huffed and grumbled a bit, making Mikhail chuckle. "That should be a rule when traveling with me anyway, don't you think?" This time, the pokemon simply sighed and shook his head. His trainer was right, but he wasn't about to admit that. As they traveled along, Mikhail peered over the heads of his traveling partners and up ahead. He recognized where they were vaguely, but he still didn't know their destination.
"So uh, not to be hasty, but... are we there yet?"

"Why did we have to come all the way back here?" Akira asked with a sigh as Mio walked along beside her and the rest of her friends. Tossing a rubber ball ahead of them, Mio ran after it happily before coming back with it in her mouth. Letting out a small sigh, Akira wished they could get back to Torrentia soon. She didn't even get the chance to take her breeder's test there.
Still, this was a chance to see what other Pokemon she could find around her. She didn't have much of a chance to explore the route when she was first here and had spent most of her time in Varaia going from city to city. Maybe it could be nice to go back somewhere just to look around.

Lee was lost in thought yet again. When Mik spoke up, he sort of snapped back to reality. "Huh? Oh. Uh, shouldn't be too much longer now." He said. He had to wonder how they felt about coming back home with them. He didn't exactly feel like going back by himself. He remembered the last time he was by himself. It involved Team Necro, but thankfully there were others there as well.
He remembered the altercation all too well and Vincent had helped a great deal against them, yet Lee hadn't really used him much since then. There just hadn't been a good battle for a bug type like him to be used in. Instead, Maverick and Duke were the main ones he used so far.
Another reason he wanted them to come along was because he wanted his family to meet the new friends he had made along his journey. He couldn't wait to see his family and see how they'd interact with his friends and his Pokemon. Though just as Lee was thinking to himself, yet again, he noticed someone up ahead and stopped. This someone was a girl, that was for sure, and definitely did not look like Team Necro. He looked at her curiously for a moment before realizing he was probably staring too long.

Trina was so lost, it wasn't even funny. After her short exchange with another trainer, she had continued down the way to the next town only to find herself more lost than before. Larvitar was no help. "Aren't Pokemon supposed to have instincts about these things?" she asked him. He looked at her with his head cocked to the side. "Uh, I've been about as many places as you have," he said. "And I'm getting tired! I don't want to walk anymore!" he complained, a bit whiny. Trina nodded and picked him up and continued walking with him in her arms. She stopped one more time to look around and try to get her bearings and that was when the hairs on the back of her neck started to stand up. She felt like she was being watched. She looked around and saw a group of Pokemon trainers through the bushes. She hoped they were friendly. She quickly made up her mind to approach them.
"Um ... Hello," she said uncertainly. "My name is Trina. This is Larvitar. We're kind of lost. Can any of you help us?" she asked, completely helpless. Still, the hairs on the back of her neck stood up like she was being watched. However, she didn't think it was because of these trainers. None of them gave her a bad vibe. The breeder tended to trust her instincts with these sort of things, but she put it off to maybe a Pokemon was watching them, waiting to get someone alone to battle.

"Whoa. And I thought I spaced out" Mik commented as he noticed how lost Lee was in his thoughts. Shaking his head, he continued at a leisurely pace, deciding to just wait he walk out patiently. Or... better yet. He could entertain himself, or at least give him something else to focus on.
"Might as well bring out the rest of the team too. Larvesta, Ducklett! Come on out!" he said, picking out two pokeballs and releasing the pokemon inside. Snubbull tilted his head. This was... unusual behavior for his trainer. What got into him all of a sudden? Of course, before they knew it, Larvesta was screeching and perching on Mikhail's head, and Ducklett simply blinked and looked around. They walked on, practically fussing with each other the rest of the way - or at least, Larvesta and Mik were fussing.

Lee hardly noted Mik letting out some Pokemon from his pokeballs. He was more interested in the girl before them. He began to approach her, but as he did, the girl gave a wicked smile and began laughing. Lee took a step back, a bit confused about the whole thing. She sounded like she wanted help, but now she was acting...weird. Lee didn't know what to think of this situation. Vincent, who was at his side, jumped infront of him. "Venonat!" he said defiantly. Apparently he knew something was up. "So it's that little brat that helped spoil one of Team Necro's plans awhile back. Yes. I remember the description of a trainer with a Venonat. That disable was a pesky little move." Lee heard her say. His posture changed as he stood a little more defiantly now. Venonat was practically growling at the girl as well. But just as Lee was about to speak, a man stepped out of the bushes in full Team Necro garb. "That's him, alright", the man began speaking "Thanks to you, I lost my Latios. But that's alright. Not only did I redeem myself and get something better, I get to pay you back for embarrassing me." The man then snapped his fingers and out of the ground a trap sprung. Lee now found himself in a cage, unable to free himself from it for the time being. Just as he was about to dig around his backpack for some pokeballs, the girl walked up to him and nabbed his backpack from him and tossed it to the ground outside the cage. "Now now. Can't have you being a pest this time." she said and walked off. When she walked off, suddenly something loud could be heard rustling in the distance. Something...big...was coming. After a few moments of hearing the sound, Lee was getting nervous. Glancing over at the Team Necro man, he could see him laughing. Whatever that sound was, they were glad for it apparently. Not knowing what to do and getting more anxious by the moment, Lee began thrashing in his cage to try and get out. As he began thrashing, however, a giant shadow loomed over the tree tops before finally hovering just behind the man. It shot a glare at Lee that he felt pierced his very soul. When he finally got a good enough look, he realized exactly what it was. "A...Lugia...and it looks....dead" Lee spoke quietly, in awe and a bit of fear. "This is it for you, kid. You've meddled in Team Necro's plans, and we just can't have that." He turned, eyeing his Lugia before he gave it a command. "Lugia, Aeroblast that kid." Lugia made a very loud noise and began gathering up power for the attack. There was little Lee could do and he knew it. Vincent knew it to, however. Lee seemed to have forgotten about him in all the commotion. Vincent jumped out, positioning himself between the Undead Lugia and Lee. Lee's eyes grew wide with horror. "No Vincent! You're no match for a Lugia!" Vincent had the type disadvantage of bug and poison to Lugia's flying and psychic. It wasn't good. Vincent didn't respond to Lee's plea at all, however. The Team Necro man began laughing. "Hah! That's your best shot? A little bug? Kid, say goodbye." Lugia then fired and Aeroblast but Vincent took the full force of it to block it from hitting Lee. Lee flinched and looked away when the attack happened. When the dust finally settled, Lee looked to see Vincent was out cold near his cage. Lee reached out a hand from the cage to touch Vincent. He was alive, but he was completely out of it. "Still alive? Unfortunate. Well, let's just do it again! Lugia, Aeroblast!" The Team Necro man called out to his Lugia. Once again the undead legendary began building up for the attack. This was it for Lee if some sort of miracle didn't happen. "No!" Lee called out, feeling completely helpless and desperate. But right as the Aeroblast went to fire, something slammed full force into the undead legendary. The blast was knocked clear out of Lee's path and infact, it hit the man supposedly controlling the Lugia and sent him flying. He'd be alive, for sure, but it looked like Team Ro-Necro was blasting off again. As the Lugia shook off being hit full force it glared at whatever it was that hit him. He began powering up for another attack to hit whatever it was that hit him but he was stopped short. The Undead Lugia was hit with Soul Sever and the legendary was no longer a threat. That Soul Sever came from an Angel Absol. One that was now flying over toward Lee. Lee looked at it with awe before it finally landed near them. Angel Absol looked like it was about to attack and Lee closed his eyes flinching. But he heard the cage around him fall apart. Lee blinked a few times, a bit confused. He stepped away from the remains of the cage and scooped Vincent into his arms. He'd be okay after a trip to the Pokecenter. As he glanced back over to the Angel Absol, he noticed she was pushing a pokeball with her nose toward him. He kneeled down and picked up the pokeball with a free hand. The pokeball was...empty. He looked back at the Angel Absol a bit confused with a question wondering in his mind. She simply nodded yes and Lee slowly nodded back the same. He took the pokeball in his hand and gently tapped her on the forehead with it. She went inside the pokeball and it hummed a capture noise. She was now a willing member of Lee's team. Lee set the pokeball on his belt and walked over to grab his backpack. He took Vincent's pokeball from it and put him back in his pokeball to rest. He then put his backpack back on and looked over at Mik, wondering what he thought about all this as well. Oh, whoa. Random chick blocking their path and keeping Lee from moving forward, which made Mik bump into him in reaction, since the teen's legs apparently never got the message to 'stop when there's no more road to walk on' message from his brain. Thankfully it seemed Lee had a plan to approach the girl anyway and moved right as he collided with his back. The trainer blinked, shrugging it off and focusing on the girl ahead, for once not freaking out when Larvesta flitted onto his head to stare in bewilderment. Must... greet... new person... with face glomps!
Mikhail could feel the dual type begin to shudder in excitement, and to prevent what he knew was about to happen from happening, he quickly plucked the pokemon from atop his head and turned him over, scratching his belly. His face was... well, he didn't look to be having the best moment, but Larvesta was eating it up and literally cooing from the attention. Snubbull, sensing Vincent's distress, shuffled up to stand before his trainer, also growling as the girl spoke, his paws clenching together into small fists as the dialogue ensued. Once the man approached, the fairy pokemon stiffened and looked to the ground. Something wasn't right - he could smell it. Right before the new Necro grunt snapped his fingers, Snubbull looked up to Larvesta and barked, the bug perking up instantly to squirm free of Mik's grasp.
Bewildered, he gaped as he suddenly felt the ground give underneath him. Mik was on the very edge of the cage's trap, and if he didn't move, very bad things would happen. So out of the blue, Larvesta cried out and flung himself at his human perch, shoving Mikhail away from the edge and accidentally into one of the barred cage walls, knocking him out cold from the blow. Larvesta himself was nicked by one of the walls, banging on this and that, he too knocked out from the collision, swirls taking over his eyes. ...Oh, great. Snubbull sighed in mild relief despite being the only conscious one of his team within the cage, sniffing Mik to make sure he wasn't dead. But... wait. He didn't have time to sniff!
Quickly, the pokemon made a decision to let Vincent handle the Lugia, turning to their newest member of the team for help. "Bowwww! Bow bow, bow bow bow!" Ducklett! Go back to one of the towns and get help! he told the water fowl, snorting at her as she peered down from a tree to look at him. Seemed she'd flown to safety during the fray and hadn't been trapped like the rest of them. Yawning, she looked down and the over to Lugia as it prepared to blast the Venonat, giving one of her wings a prim nibble before sighing, giving in and flying off to Gustella. She figured she might as well help, she guessed. But they would owe her.
By the time Snubbull turned back, the poor bug was down and out for the count. However, before he could even think of helping, Lugia was ordered to attack again, but this time an odd Absol cut in - literally - to save them. Narrowing his eyes, Snubbull glanced backwards to see that Mikhail was finally coming to, leaning upward and clutching his head, eyes wide when he spotted the legendary.
"...Mommy! He-- I mean, uh... wait, what?" he mumbled, watching as Lee captured some sort of... pokemon he'd seen before, but... with wings? Oh, that wasn't right at all! "Can't anything around here be normal?!" The trainer sighed and facepalmed, immediately wincing afterward, realizing he'd forgotten about his earlier encounter with the cage wall.

Lee was sighing in relief. It seemed the dramatic moment was over and Team Necro was foiled again. He approached Mik, hoping he was alright. It seemed he took a nasty bump from Team Necro's trap. Just when he was feeling relieved, however, he could hear that girl's voice again. "Fool. It's not over yet! I'll take you out myself!" She growled, clearly frustrated that her partner couldn't exact his revenge. Lee turned back quickly and reached for one of his pokeballs. However, before either could react, he heard galloping in the distance. Lee looked over the girl's shoulder as best as he could but he just couldn't make out what it was. Suddenly the girl was hit with a Quick Attack and was completely blindsided by it. She was out cold. What he saw before him amazed him. It was a legendary Virizion. He was being saved by all sorts of Pokemon today, it seemed. "You are one brave lad" Lee heard a voice as the Pokemon approached him. Lee blinked and gave a very confused look. The Verizion looked back at him curiously before nodding to something behind Lee. "You didn't know it, but you and your brave partner inadvertantly saved a precious young Pokemon Egg." She continued. Lee looked over his shoulder and in the distance he could see a Pokemon egg that was only partially hidden now. It would have been in the direct line of fire of those Aeroblasts. He looked from the egg to the Virizion. "Go ahead. Take it. It's yours." she said and nudged him to the egg. Lee scooped up the egg in his arms then walked back over to the talking Virizion. "And if it's all the same with you, I'd like to travel with you and help watch over that egg." She said softly. Lee nodded and took out a pokeball. He touched the Virizion with it and she willingly went in and allowed herself to be captured within. Lee put the pokeball in his backpack. He walked back over to Mik, egg still in his arms. "I don't think things will ever be normal around here" He said. He looked at the Team Necro girl that was knocked out cold and the knocked out Lugia. "We better get out of here while we can." He said and urged Mik to continue to Dust Town with him. Eventually the girl would wake up, the guy would return, and they'd leave with the Lugia in tow back to the Team Necro base before Lee and Mik would even arrive at Lee's house. On their journey back to whatever gym was next, the group would have been long gone.
