Each Jockey guided their steed to the gates as the crowd cheered, ready for a good race. Soren smiled as he lovingly stroked Mach's fur. Each pokemon was loaded into their gate, and Soren cracked his joints as the announcer spoke, and the buzzers, 2 Pidgeys, a Pidgeotto and a Pidgeot, landed on top of the gates in totem-pole fashion.
"Pidgey!" Said the first Pidgey, opening its wings and taking off. Soren moved a pair of riding goggles over his eyes.
"Pidgey!" Said the second, copying the actions of the first pidgey. Soren grabbed Mach's horn tightly.
"Pidgeotto!" Cried the Pidgeotto, chasing after the pidgey. Soren leaned down on Mach as the Absol wound his muscles.
"Pidgeot!" Said the last bird as it took off. The gates were opened, and all the racers shot out onto the track.
"AND THEY'RE OFF!" The announcer yelled, though Soren and Mach paid no mind as the absol ran.
[RESULT: 0]
Mach kept a steady pace, neither falling nor advancing.

Faye and Denki were psyched! Their first race together in a whole new region! The bug type fluttered his wings a bit in warm up as the countdown began. The red haired girl fit easily on her Pokemon's back, having been blessed with small stature. Finally the Pidgeot took of, and the gates flew open. Denki made his move..
[RESULT: 7]
The Heracross easily burst past the Absol, creating a strong whoosh of wind as he flew by. Faye held on to her mount's horn, a smile on her face.

Gracie patted her Pokemon on the head, hoping that her weight wasn't too much for the petite creature. Prongs seemed to be moving around just fine as he stepped into the gate to prepare for the race though.
This was to be their first race together. The nerves in Gracie's body were going haywire. She could feel Prongs' muscles bunching as he pranced around nervously as well. "It's alright boy," she cooed. "No matter what, this is only our first race, so whatever we do is good enough."
She watched as the Pidgey family flew away and when the gate burst open, she goaded her Pokemon forward. "Go go go!" she shouted with excitement, urging him forward and hanging onto the makeshift reigns she'd fastened for him to hold on to.
[RESULT: 0]

Pegasus was atop Ponyta, waiting for the race to start. He began petting her side. "Now don't you worry a bit, Ponyta. You'll do well in yer first race. Ya hear? You'll do just fine" he comforted her. Ponyta gave a slight snort and Pegasus snapped his head up. The race would now begin. Ponyta was out of the gate.
[RESULT: Miss]
But she stumbled forward as her hoof seemed to catch and she stumbled forward slightly. There went everyone else.

Soren gritted his teeth as Mach continued to run, they still had far to go though.
"Go Mach!" Soren cried. His absol cried out as he tried to put on speed.

So they weren't off to a good start. That was okay because they had plenty of time left to catch up.
"Come on Prongs, you can do it," urged Gracie.

"Come on Ponyta, ya got this little lady", Pegasus urged her forward. Ponyta settled herself and tried to start again.
[RESULT: 2]
It wasn't the best start in the world, but she was moving now atleast.
