The Derpy Darkrai
The site's first OFFICIAL event, the Derpy Darkrai was initially a joke regarding one of the eggs made during Beta-Testing. All eggs as of right now *9/5/11* have been made by me, Catilena1890, and while in the process of making the darkrai egg I tried to give it a fierce look by adding eyes. Needless to say, it didn't work very well. It was and still is a great source of entertainment for people though XD.
The Derpy Darkrai was officially handed out on August 25th, 2011, as a celebration for my birthday. People had to find him and a few other legendaries hidden throughout the site in order to claim prizes in the form of either ¥200 or the legend they found. Though he was the first, and one of the easiest to find, only one person actually wanted poor Derpy. So far, Derpy Darkrai can ONLY be obtained via special events. Despite originating from a humorously spirited egg, Derpy eggs CANNOT be obtained in Breeding Center tests, nor can you find one in the wild.
Blue Flame Cyndaquil, Quilava, and Typhlosion
The Blue Flame Cyndaquil, Quilava and Typhlosion are an event that was made to commemorate the implementation of Swarms. Quilava and Typhlosion with blue flames can only be obtained if you catch a Blue Flame Cyndaquil and evolve it. I made it to give Basile something a little more special than just a shiny, since quite a few shinies had been handed out in the same event.
The Blue Flame first handed out in the site's very first Fire Swarm, and thus actually came out BEFORE Derpy Darkrai was made an obtainable pokemon. So far, only one Blue Flame exists on the site, under the ownership of Basile. It was encountered and caught near the end of the swarm and as such was her last catch for that swarm. More Blue Flame Cyndaquil will show up in future Fire Swarms, but cannot show up as a Mystery Pokemon, hatched from an egg, or otherwise encountered in the wild except for swarms.
Purple Shell Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise
Originally set to be released during the first Water Type swarm, the Purple Shell Squirtle line was held back due to the staff being swamped with the other swarm threads. Instead, the Purple Shell Squirtle Line made it's FIRST appearance during an account cleanup. After clearing some accounts, it was discovered one of the former members had two ribbons. Because ribbons are in small supply and there is a high demand for them, it was decided that these ribbons would be raffled off. Many people entered, but only two got the ribbons and as a consolation prize, one person was given a set of gems. Feeling generous, Basile decided to change this member's prize due to the disappointment expressed in receiving it, and gave them a Purple Shell Squirtle instead.
Like the Blue Flame Cyndaquil line, the Purple Shell Squirtle Line can be obtained ONLY during a swarm.
Red Skinned Snivy, Servine and Serperior
Revealed during the Multi-Typed swarm, the Red Skinned Snivy line received as much fanfare as the Blue Flame Cyndaquil did. It was randomly decided who would encounter the pokemon and as of right now, like the other swarm-events before it, there is only one Red Skinned Snivy onsite. Although this is my favorite of all the Swarm Events, I do not own a Red Skinned Snivy simply because I believe in fairness and tradition, with only a mild amount of favoritism.
Like the other Swarm Events, this event pokemon is available ONLY during a swarm of it's type, and no other method.
The Angel Absol
The Angel Absol is a event originally made to commemorate the United States tragedy of 9/11. The Angel Absol is a non-tradable, non-breedable pokemon *and so far, the ONLY pokemon on VS to do this* that can only be obtained on certain holidays. The initial sprite was made by me, Catilena1890 by splicing the wings of a Swanna onto an Absol sprite. After several failed attempts on my part, Basile volunteered to make the shiny and was rewarded with it as a result.
As the earlier paragraph implies, the Angel Absol was first handed out on september 11th, 2011 as a reward to people who posted in the Memorial Thread made in the Abyss. They can only be obtained on special holidays, and rumor has it they may make another appearence during the christmas season.
The Gemstone Dogs
The Gemstone Dogs were a clever idea of Basile's. They were made for no particular reason whatsoever, and started with the Ruby Arcanine. Basile was showing it to me and then went ahead and made the Sapphire Arcanine and expressed a great amount of desire to have them in play. I wanted to make it happen, so after doing some research I asked her to make the Emerald Arcanine and then create Growlithes for them. I told her we would commemorate Generation 3 with the dogs and promised she would get all three as a reward for her efforts not only in the dogs, but in the site in general.
The Gemstone Dogs were first handed out on September 16th, 2011 to commemorate the release of Pokemon Emerald. Players were given a short, 15 question quiz and received a random Gemstone Growlithe based on their answers. The Gemstone Growlithe and Arcanine all have a secondary type matching the Primary Type of their respective version mascots. Unlike the other events, the Gemstones CAN breed and produce more gemstones, but the chances of getting a gemstone from an egg are the same as getting a regular shiny growlithe, that is, 5 in 1025. The chances can be increased by breeding a Gemstone with another Gemstone, and again by breeding a Gemstone with a Matching Gemstone *for example, your chances increase when you breed a Ruby on a Ruby, rather than Sapphire on a Ruby*. Gemstones can also be encountered as an event if you get a recommendation from a towns Officer Jenny. That has a 5 in 1025 chance of happening, so don't beg for a recommendation.
The Mismagius Rayquaza
The Mismagius Rayquaza is an event pokemon made to commemorate halloween. It was inspired by the Diamond and Pearl episode Malice in Wonderland in which a Mismagius fused with a dream Rayquaza and chased Ash and his friends. I made the sprite myself, after multiple sprite-destroyings, and kept it secret until the last minute. During the month of October, there were multiple sightings of the creature, but it was not officially unveiled until halloween.
The Mismagius Rayquaza was first handed out on October 31st, 2011 by raffle. All month long, members were able to purchase Trick-or-treat surprise bags which came with tickets, though no one knew what the tickets were for until Halloween. On April 1st, 2012, Mystery the Mismagius made a reappearance, having the members compete in the mines for her pets once more. However, only one person got a high enough score, and as a reward for getting a HIGHER than required score, the Shiny Mismagius Rayquaza was revealed and awarded to them. Like the Derpy Darkrai, Mismagius Rayquaza CAN be traded, but it CANNOT be bred to obtain a Mismagius Rayquaza Egg, as they are technically artificial beings. In order for there to be MULTIPLE Mismagius Rayquaza's, Mystery the Mismagius must be present to create them in the dream world and then bring them to life.
The Winterlutions
The Winterlutions are an event made to commemorate the start of Winter as well as promote the site mascot Eevee. All sprites were made by Basile except for the Winter Jolteon and Winter Espeon, and it was a well-kept secret almost the entire month. In fact, we nearly forgot about it, it was THAT secret. The Winterlutions are just like the eeveelutions, and will evolve the same way as their normal counterparts.
The Winterlutions were revealed late Thanksgiving 2011 starting with the Winter Eevee, after planning the release a week before. As they are promoting our mascot, there were no requirements to obtain the event other than simply posting a claim in the thread. As Basile and I could not choose between two evolutions we liked of the winters, everyone got two eevees so that we could have both the evolutions we wanted. Winterlutions are considered a shiny, much like some of our other events, so you CAN breed NORMAL eeveelutions to obtain a winterlution. Winterlution breeding is calculated much the same way the Gemstone Dogs are.
The Basement Cats
The Basement Cat Meowth and Persian are the most recent event to come to Victory Seekers. They were made by me solely to give something nice to Basile to make her feel better about an impending operation she had to go through the day after the Basement Cats were released. I WAS going to make a Lugia Event pokemon for this purpose, but I couldn't get an idea on what sprite to use or what to do to it, and the idea of the basement Cats came to me while looking at her known favorite pokemon. The Basement Cat Persian came first, and shortly after, just before I revealed the pokemon, I forgot Persian was an evolved pokemon, and quickly went back and made a Basement Cat Meowth, who was far more annoying to make as it was hard to find a good sprite, and then the charm gave me some trouble.
The Basement Cats were revealed on April 21st, 2012. Basile got a Basement Cat Persian as her fursona is a black panther, affectionately dubbed "Basement Cat", hence the name of the event. Everyone else had a chance to get a Basement Cat Meowth by correctly guessing random pokemon in the chatbox after being given a clue. This minigame was done throughout the day to give everyone a shot at it. Only Basement Cat Persians can be bred to produce Basement Cat Meowth's. The odds of the breeding being successful will go up if you breed two Basement Cat Persians together over breeding a Basement Cat Persian with a normal Persian.
The Crystal Houndour and Houndoom
The Crystal Hounds were made to commemorate the debut of Racing, and were distributed at the first race ever held on Victory Seekers. Unfortunately, the release didn't go so well as the races horribly confused everyone. Regardless, the Crystal Hounds have been accepted as an event, and are expected to make a return later in the year. The Crystal Hounds are unique in that they are the only event pokemon thus far to have gender differences.
The Crystal Hounds were first released on Memorial Day alongside Angel Absols as a prize for winning the races. They don't actually get along with their non-event counterparts very well, and will only breed with other Crystal Hounds. On extremely rare occasions, you might find them in the wild where ice pokemon live, but otherwise are event-exclusive. Crystal Hounds don't really have a set theme, so there is no telling when they will be released in an event.[/justify][/blockquote]
