Here on VictorySeekers, we act mostly on anime principles. This goes for contests especially. In Varaia, there are 5 important people you need to know.
Obsidian: The EmCee of the Varaia Region Contests, she announces whose turn it is and shares the final votes of the judges with everyone, and even gives comments about Performances.
Nurse Joy: The local Nurse Joy is one of the three judges who presides over every contest. With her partners Mr. Contesta and Mr. Sukizo, she helps make the decision of who moves on and who doesn't. Her judgements are made based on the condition of the pokemon after executing an attack.
Mr. Contesta: The Head of the Contest Committee, Mr. Contesta is one of the three judges who presides over every contest, and like Nurse Joy and Sukizo, he helps make the decision of who moves onto the next round. He makes his decisions based on the gracefulness of the pokemons' moves.
Mr. Sukizo: The President of the pokemon fanclub, Mr. Sukizo is the more airheaded of the three judges, constantly saying the word "Remarkable". He helps make the decision of who moves on, making his judgements on the appearance of the pokemon.
You: And then there is you, the coordinator. You are the highlight of the contest along with your peers, and it is your job to stand out above everyone else. Even if another member is competing you still need to give it your all.
When you enter a contest, you must present your pass to whoever is taking signups, usually the Nurse Joy of the town where this is taking place. When you have gotten signed up you and your friends may wait in the lobby until coordinators are called to the waiting room to wait your turn on the stage. Now, in the anime, there are two rounds in a contest. The appeal round and the battle round, both of which take place on the same stage. I will explain both rounds to you carefully.

Appeal Round In the appeal round, depending on what contests want that year, you will use either one or two pokemon. You will be given ball capsules that you can put seals of any kind on for a good effect in the pokemon's entrance. For example, Celeste favors a seal that makes her pokemon emerge from a shower of rainbow sparks. You may use as many seals as you like, but both pokeballs need to have matching seals. Your task is to create something visually tasteful using your pokemon's moves. You may use up to three moves in an appeal to make ONE combination move, not counting the end of your appeal where you may combine your attacks to create an explosion that ends in sparklies, no matter the attacks. Anime Physics, gotta love'em. And for you DP fans who watched the Coordinator Nando make his appeals, NO, you may NOT copy his style of using sound as an appeal. In Varaia, your appeal has to strictly be VISUAL. Varaia doesn't need any DJ's ok? Now when your appeal is over, you and your pokemon bow to the audience and go back to the waiting room backstage while the judges tally the votes. At this point in time your friends are welcome to leave their seats and come see you backstage in the waiting room until the top eight are announced. Battle Round Next we have the battle round. In the battle round, think of it as a Gym Battle and the Appeal Round combined into one event. If you make it through the appeal round, you will automatically advanced to the final battle where the winner gets the ribbon. You`ll have 5 minutes, in character, to battle your opponent. In a Contest Battle, your pokemon's attack have to be both pretty AND powerful in order for you to win. Player Participation: Now this is where things get a little complicated, but I promise this will be painless and simple to understand once you think about it. If only one or two people enter a contest, they automatically pass the appeal round and go onto the final battle (but it's a testament to your integrity to still make a good appeal anyway, because your character is NOT the only person in that contest). If your opponent is an NPC, you win the battle when you know knock out both of their pokemon. HOWEVER Up to 6 people may enter the same contest, though only two will make it to the final round. If more than one person enters a contest a member of staff will look at your appeals and decide whose was good enough to make it to the next round. Whoever is presiding over that contest will take over as Obsidian and announce who goes forward. As with the single-person entry, the two players who move forward automatically go to the final battle. If your opponent is another player, you win the battle if you knock out their pokemon OR the contest goes on for more than 3 days in real time, as we need to move on. At that point the person with the lowest health will be considered the loser, and the other will be presented the prize.
