Oh hey, look, another of Noka's characters came scurrying along to the lab. Also, fourth wall breakage; whoohoo! Anyway, Kalin was walking along to Dust Town, humming cheerfully to herself. It was so exhilerating to be by herself on the open road, with a whole world of possibilities ahead of her!
Heck, she already had a strategy for how this was going to work too; she was going to slowly progress and take her time in the routes. She was going to get as much experience as possible in a route, before healing up her pokemon and then actually progressing in the route. It seemed a solid plan to the girl from the agricultural town.
"Hello! I'm here for my pokemon!" Kalin cried out to the door. Of course, she did not think of just waltzing inside; that would be incredibly rude. Instead, she settled for pounding on the door. Bang, bang, bang. Methodically. Bang, bang, bang once more. "Hellooooooo." she called out, and then she promptly spaced out. Huh, what if there was a door-like pokemon? That'd be so epic, but then again...it would be terrible to be such a pokemon.
People would be knocking on you all the time!

A pink haired teen ran into the lab. She was panting, apparently from running all the way to this place. Although she had a car ride, it didn't get her all the way there. She glanced around, wondering what to do now. Coraline, the girl, was now able to get her very own pokemon...if only she knew where to go now. She adjusted her hat, continuing to scope the place.
"Hey! I'm uh, here for my pokemon!" she called in a half yelling voice. She may have been tired, but she was still so excited. She caught sight of another person there to retrieve a pokemon, but Coraline decided to keep to herself, for now.

Today was a rather relaxing day, actually. Much to her surprise, Professor Conifer had went to bed early and pushed aside the usual late-night projects, hoping to be more productive the next day thanks to a refreshing night's rest. Oddly enough, it worked! She couldn't remember the last time she greeted 7 AM with a smile and worked so diligently so early. In fact, she'd finished that morning's work rather early and had been reclining in another room within the lab when the usual rapping sounded on her door.
Oh, new trainers!
The woman eagerly heaved herself from the couch and rushed to the door, swinging it wide open and offering the two girls a huge smile. "Welcome! I'm Professor Conifer. Looking for some pokemon, I see" she said, chuckling and ushering them inside with a wave of her hand. "Don't be shy now. I have all day to wait on new trainers, but you kids should get started and bonded with some pokemon as soon as possible. Now..." Suddenly, she pulled out a large fold-out pen and set it up, reaching for a bag moments later. The Professor rustled around a bit before pulling out nine pokeballs, releasing six of them into the pen to display to her guests.
"These are the starters you're able to choose from today. If you'd like to take a chance, over here are three Mystery Balls as well, but be aware that once you've released the pokemon, you can't change your mind. It could be anything from a Ratatta to a Kyogre, so be careful! Also, one last note. Each person is allowed only one Mystery Ball, and those who are aspiring to be breeders or coordinators can pick two pokemon this year." Conifer hushed herself then, awaiting the girls' decisions.

Coraline straightened up and searched over the professor. She nodded and cheerfully said,"I'm Coraline! An aspiring trainer Waha~!" The pink haired girl stepped into the lab and watched as the professor took out the pen and pokemon. Coraline stared at the mystery pokeballs, then at the ones in the pen. Argh, such a huge choice. The chikoreeta was pretty cute looking, though.
"I'll take a mystery ball!" she said with a point of her index finger at said ball(s). A stupid grin was on her face, showing her eagerness. Not waiting for a reply she walked over and picked one up, tossing it to see what pokemon was inside.

Pink hair!
That was a bit unusual, now wasn't it? Of course, this was Pokemon, which meant she likely should have been expecting people with odd hair colors, but sheesh...she had grown up in some small town best known for its agricultural products; they did NOT get many people with pink hair there.
Or any odd hair colors, for that matter.
Kalin just stared at the girl for a moment or two before she remembered her manners; huh, that was a nice hat the girl had. She wondered, would a hat pokemon and a door pokemon get along all that well?
Likely not.
But she soon dismissed the silly notion; a lot of her thoughts were rather silly after all. She also managed to not get distracted by the scarf the girl was wearing; so warm and comfy...no, no, she mustn't let herself get distracted! It was with that thought that the door before her opened, and she blinked just once as she stared up at Professor Conifer; she was a bit short for her age, after all. They were soon harried inside by the good professor, and Kalin looked at all the pokemon. Hrm...interesting, but which one? Her eyes wandered over to the two remaining mystery balls, the other girl already having taken one, and then back to the pokemon in the pen.
"Sorry you all...but mysteries are always fun." she said apologetically to all the cute little critters before she released one of the pokemon in one of the mystery balls too.

For Kalin, her mysteryball pokemon was a Slakoth. The pokemon looked up at her then climbed atop her shoulders before deciding to take a nap there, yawning his name "Slakoth." For Coraline, a Vulpix burst forth from her mysteryball. The Vulpix looked up at her trainer, before spotting that someone else was in the room near her as well. The Vulpix quickly dashed toward her trainer and hid behind her legs. Coraline looked down at the vulpix. She seemed to have blanked out. Then when the vulpix advanced towards her, Coraline scooped the vulpix up and hugged it in a sisterly/motherly fashion,"Awww! You're so adorable! Oh oh I need to name you! Uhhh uhmm! Koko! Koko Koko~!" She was spouting out happiness left and right, probably frightening her poor pokemon.
Luckily, Coraline settled down soon enough and loosened her grip on the poor Vulpix,"Let's start our adventure!" she cheered. She was about to head out of the door right at that moment before remembering she needed a few other items, so she turned towards the professor of all wisdom.

A Slakoth. Well, it wasn't exactly her first choice, but she loved excitement, and at the least, it would be interesting, trying to best gyms with the little guy. "Hehe, nice to meet you too, Letho," Kalin said, managing to rub him on the head a little.
He was a sleepy little fellow, but she would make a fighter out of him yet? She was a bit jealous of the other girl's Vulpix but hey, that was the breaks. "Oh, right, I forgot to tell you my name. I'm Kalin," she looked from Conifer to Coraline before she spoke again. "Good to meet you both." she said politely; her Slakoth was, predictably, sleeping.
Oh well, he would definitely need a lot of rest for the rigors she was going to put him through; it was going to be difficult to beat the gyms with a Slakoth, but she was sure she could do it!.

The Professor pointed over to the area where the equipment was again. "Choose your bag and color pokedex. Coordinators and trainers get five pokeballs to start with. Breeders get the scarf. Everyone gets the antidotes, paralyze heals, awakenings, and oran berries." she said to the duo there.

Coraline nodded with a grin. She hurried over and grabbed a pink pokedex and a backpack she found quite nice. The purses seemed overdone for the girls anyway. She waved at the professor and looked at Kalin,"Hey Kalin, I'm headin off to start my adventure! Wanna come?" she asked with a beaming smile on her face. She was caressing her Vulpix behind it's ear.

The Slakoth was still sleeping...hrm, if he was like this all the time, things were going to become very difficult for Kalin. She thought on that as she snatched up a black pokedex and a backpack similar to the one that coraline had grabbed. "Hrm?" Kalin questioned, glancing at the girl. Go with her...on one hand, it would be fun to go by herself. On the other, it would also be less lonely with another person.
"I would be delighted." she said, trying to sound mature as she gave a small smile to the other girl.

Coraline's grin grew, possibly to where it hurt,"Great! Let's go Let's go! Thanks professor!" She quickly grabbed the rest of her gear and rushed out the door to start her adventure with Koko, Lethu, and Kalin.
