Duke fell under the Hypnosis of Poliwag. Too bad, the Treecko was sure he could take out the water pokemon in just one more hit but now he was snoozing away. Lee gritted his teeth, trying to call out a command to his pokemon and hoping it'd wake him but Duke was out of it.
Meanwhile Lotad had taken a pretty mean hit with that Ember. It retaliated with Astonish.

Mikhail gave the scene a quick glance before looking back to Larvesta. Seemed everyone was doing pretty well except for Lee - but Hypnosis was an easy enough thing to get out of... something he knew first hand. Shaking his head, the teen tried to focus and called out to his pokemon now. "Hey Larvesta, try a--"
"LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!" And the bug released more fire, dousing Lotad with another Ember. That... wasn't what he wanted him to do. Mik folded his arms across his chest. But if it worked, it worked, he guessed.
[RESULT: 3]
Goldeen whimpered and tried his best to Peck Shiori as he flailed more, hating the fact that he was being beat up so quickly.
[RESULT: 5] Larvesta: 27/27 Duke: 21/27 Shiori: 28/33 Lotad: 4/15 Goldeen: 3/15 Poliwag: 6/15

And then there was Lee, still trying to call out commands to Duke. He slumped his shoulders and leaned forward almost in defeat. Duke was just snoozing away. Oh how painful this was. Duke started out so good too! If only he'd wake up! Meanwhile, Lotad was still fighting that pesky fire bug. It tried for another Astonish, hoping to actually do something this time. Wanting to end the battle soon so she could go back to resting, Shiori lashed out with another Assurance to (hopefully) defeat the Goldeen.

Eee! EEEEE! Larvesta cried literal tears as the attack hit him, but... wasn't that what he was supposed to do when hit with Astonish? Mikhail was tempted to chew on one of his nails as he thought of how to finally bring down Lotad. A few minutes had passed before he looked to his now agitated pokemon and nodded. If he had a cap, he would have turned it around. Stuff was about to get real.
"This time, I want you to really use Zen Headbutt" he told the bug, who was immensely focused after being hit. His rear waggled as he propelled himself backwards in preparation for the charge, pinkish sparks flying from his forehead as he hit the water-dweller.
[RESULT: 4] Larvesta: 19/27 Duke: 22/27 Shiori: 28/33 Lotad: 0/15Goldeen: 0/15 Poliwag: 6/15

Finally Duke awoke. Lee sighed in relief. "Come on. We're the last ones left. Use Absorb on that Poliwag again!" Duke nodded simply and hit another Absorb on Poliwag.
[RESULT: 7]+1
Finally. All three water pokemon were defeated!

"Alright! Good job Shiori!" Akira said cheerfully as the Seviper released her defeated opponent. Getting nervous at the praise, she shrank back and hid in the water from her trainer again. "Come on girl! Stop hiding in there and come out already!"

As the others began praising their pokemon, Mikhail looked around and tilted his head. Ah, that's what he was supposed to be doing, right? Clearing his throat, the trainer bent down a little and slapped his legs, attempting to call Larvesta over without using words. The bug spazzed mid-air, his head turning every which way as he watched his trainer do... whatever it was he was doing. Um. Well, okay! He would react to these summoning devices! Suddenly the bug buzzed through the air, tackling him over and clinging to his face while screeching in victory. No, that didn't look wrong at all...
"Congrats, guys..?" he told the others, flailing as he finally plucked the pokemon from his cranium. "Oxygen! I need oxygen to liiiiiive!"

Lee was watching the interaction between the other two people and their pokemon. He grinned slightly at Mik's interaction with Larvesta. He didn't quite seem to get it, but considering Lee wasn't exactly the most knowledgeable person in the pokemon world, he wouldn't say anything of it. Lee, himself, had a long way to go to learn everything he needed to become a great pokemon trainer.
Just as Lee was thinking over this, something caught his attention. "Tree...cko?" or more like Duke did. Lee spun around quickly to see what was going on. Duke sounded confused. As he turned around, he could see the pokemon begin to glow. What the-? "Duke? What's...what...why are you glowing?" he finally formed a question. Suddenly Treecko grew brighter and brighter and brighter until his image couldn't bee seen anymore. He was like a little blur of pure light.
That little blur, however, began to grow and rapidly. Lee took a step back as the form of light changed shape. "D-Duke?" he practically stuttered. Finally, the light seemed to quit changing form. As the light began to fade he heard his Treecko say something different. "Gro...vyle!" The light was now completely gone and so was Treecko. For Duke was Treecko no longer! He was now a Grovyle.
"Whoa. Just...whoa. I know pokemon evolve but I've never actually SEEN it happen before." Lee stated. He took a few steps closer to Duke. He got out his pokedex next and held it up to Grovyle. "Grovyle. The wood gecko pokemon. It lives in dense jungles. While closing in on its prey, it leaps from branch to branch." Lee closed the pokedex and put it in his pocket. Vincent, Tyni, and Totodile all looked up at the evolved pokemon in amazement.
Well...most of them. Totodile had something going on in that mind of his. "Toto. Toto. Totodile!" It practically growled out looking at Duke's new form. He didn't seem overly pleased...in fact, he seemed quite jealous. Lee looked at Totodile curiously before picking him up in his arms. "Don't worry buddy. You'll evolve soon as well. Don't be so jealous." Lee calmed him. Totodile seemed pleased with his trainer's response for now. When Lee let him go, he waddled off back into the water.
Lee turned his attention back to Duke. "That Poliwag seemed to be the right push, bud. Look at you! Our second gym battle should go much more interesting now." he said aloud. Grovyle grinned slyly then walked off toward the water's edge before he laid down near it. He watched the other three pokemon go back to playing in the water, almost as if watching over them in case something were to happen.

"Oh wow. Impressive!" Akira said cheerfully, looking over Duke happily. "I've never actually seen Pokemon evolve before. All the ones we had back home were taken by trainers before I got the chance to see them," she continued on. "Anyway, we should get going to Torrentia soon, right? Before more Pokemon come and attack."

Mikhail was still sprawled out on the ground when Duke was wrapped in a shroud of white light, but the trainer remained there, transfixed by the process. He'd... seen this before. Albeit, a long time ago, but... it all turned out the same. For some reason when he watched the Treecko evolve into a Grovle, he felt a little lower on the totem pole. How much longer did Lee have before more of his pokemon evolved? He whipped out his pokedex and looked to Larvesta and Snubbull. He could know, if he really wanted. But he decided he didn't want to.
Heaving himself up, bug tucked under his arm sideways, Mikhail stood tall to congratulate his traveling partner. "Grats, bro! The first of our group. You deserve a ribbon" he joked, chuckling a little. Suddenly, his pokedex lit up and began reading off the same information Lee's had, and he held the device up with glee. "It speaks!" Unknowing to him, Snubbull sighed and began pushing him towards the rest of the route.

Lee chuckled and put a hand behind his head, seeming a bit embarrassed and flattered at the same time. "Thanks guys. Duke must have been really strong when I caught him though. This is one of the few times I've used him in battle." Lee responded back, his hand slowly returning from the back of his head to his side. He looked over at Grovyle who seemed content laying at the water's edge watching over the smaller pokemon. Truth be told, Grovyle wasn't his strongest pokemon. For starters, Maverick could probably give him a run for his money. The adorable electric mouse took on a gym by himself and won him his first gym badge. However, there was still another pokemon that hadn't made their debut. Lee had four out of six pokemon out of their pokeballs. Maverick was one of the two still in his pokeball. Lee felt Pikachu had earned the rest. The last, however, Lee was still hesitant to let out. He wasn't quite sure he could control this one just yet. Not only that, this one wouldn't exactly fair best against the next gym leader. Just as he was thinking over all this, however, he heard his pokemon cry out. "Toto toto toto toto totodile!" Lee sharply turned his attention to the Totodile, the only one of his four that was playing in the water's deeper end. He saw the poor little guy being chased by three other pokemon. Grovyle stood up at attention when he saw the scene as well. "Oh shoot." Lee said. He quickly ran up next to Grovyle and held out Totodile's pokeball. "Return!" he called out quickly. Totodile was now safely in his pokeball. Though the battle had already begun. On shore now facing Lee and his Grovyle were three Pokemon. Lee took a step back while Grovyle stepped forward. Larvesta seemed to know that Mikhail wanted him to battle again when he tossed the bug into the air, but he chose the Ducklett on his own to fight. Mikhail suddenly tilted his head as the Pokemon practically greeted each other. The trainer was oblivious to what was going on, so he decided to get things moving.
"Larvesta, Zen Headbutt!" The Pokemon rolled his eyes but obeyed, charging Ducklett.
[RESULT: 2]
Psyduck yawned and decided to retaliate with a Scratch as well.
