"Right now? It's just me and those two," Aldo said, pointing to Riolu and Mudkip. As if realizing he was being talked about, Riolu turned and waved at his trainer before going back to eating. "Unfortunately for us, the gym turned out to be closed, so I don't have any badges at the moment," he said with a sigh, fiddling with a piece of grass beside him lazily. "Oh, I don't think I ever introduced myself. I'm Aldo Marino. It's nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you Aldo." Will shook his hand., "Well it seems I was in luck then to get my fist badge in Gustella I just hope the next one isn't closed as well."

His Pokemon finished their meal and went off to play as Will cleaned up. Zealot and Trooper were having a stand off Paladin watched the group with cautious eyes and Libra was nudging Mudkip and Riolu to hurry up and finish so they could play some more.

"So where are you from? Not Varaia. Not with that accent."

"I'm from Viridian City in Kanto. Some things happened with my parents over there, so they decided to send me here for a while," Aldo replied simply, deciding not to go into detail about the real reason he'd come to Varaia. It wasn't something that seemed like Will needed to know, and it definitely wasn't smart to know he was here because his parent's had been arrested.

"Mud!" There's still a little left! Mudkip said, leaning further and further in to eat what little was left before he tripped and flipped onto his back.

"Rio," Hold on, I'll help you, Riolu said, grabbing Mudkip by the legs and pulling him back up before both of them went to play with the rest of Will's Pokemon.

Will tilted his head back and dug through his memories. "Was there something on the news about Viridian City? A big bust or something?"

Or was that Goldenrod. Wasn't that in Kanto? He though to himself. He never had paid much attention to outside news seeing as he had never left Tornadra before. Maybe he should start paying attention. after all Natalie was from the outside and so was Aldo, not to mention the siblings he had traveled with from Dust town. He didn't want to seem ignorant in front of his peers.

"I guess so. Must have happened after I left," Aldo said quickly, not wanting to take any chance of it coming up. "So, what made you decided to become a trainer? Anything particular?" he asked, hoping to shift the subject away from him and onto Will.

Will frowned. that was sort of a touchy subject. "If what i hear from the news Viridian City is a bit like Tornadra. But the place where we live not even cops dare to go. My brother and sister and I just want... out."

"So we are each doing something to contribute to making enough money to move. Baby sis fixes cars," He grinned with pride. "She's the best mechanic you'll ever meet. and Big Bro, well he is a really tough guy. he sorta does this security job like thing. Businessmen pay big bucks to have him protecting them. No one dare messes with them if they are under his protection. And I became a trainer."

He shrugged, "One less kid for Pretty Girl to watch over." He recalled all the messes that liepard had gotten him out of with fondness.

As the two trainers talked, a Lillipup watched them with a mixture of confusion and wonder. This was where she always played, but now these humans were there and their Pokemon were playing. She quickly decided that she couldn't allow them to play in her field without her and leaped out to join in the fun, barking happily at Aldo.

Aldo noticed the two Pokemon that had approached them with a curious look. He'd never seen or heard of Pokemon like these, but hopefully the Pokedex would shed some light on it. "Lillipup, the Puppy Pokemon. The long hair covering Lillipup's face is an excellent radar, which senses conditions in the surrounding area," the electronic voice announced when he pointed it at the dog-like Pokemon facing him. "Well, may as well see how well we can work now," Aldo said as he whistled. Almost immediately, Mudkip came running over cheerfully. "Alright Mudkip. Start off with Growl, okay?" he instructed as Mudkip growled at the Lillipup in what he hoped was a threatening way. Unfortunately, it just came out as a pathetic whimper that made the wild Pokemon giggle gleefully.

"Zealot you're up." the Torchic charged into battle position and glared at her opponent. "Crush claw Zea."

Mudkip flew back slightly when Lillipup hit him, but he quickly got back on his feet again. "Mudkip, try Ice Ball this time," Aldo instructed as Mudkip began to create a ball of ice and flung it at Lillipup.

Larvesta shrank back slightly from the Torchic. All he'd wanted was some food, but now he was being attacked for no reason. Building up flames, he fired off an Ember attack at Zealot.

"Torrrrr chicc!" how dare this filthy thing approach HER trainer with out permission. this was unacceptable.

This time when Zealot attacked her claws had a dark glow on them.

As soon as Lillipup bit down, Mudkip began crying from pain. "Stop that! You're embarrassing yourself!" Aldo called to his Pokemon as Mudkip stopped. "Use Ice Ball again," he instructed as Mudkip fired off another frozen blast.

Larvesta whined in pain again, firing off another Ember attack in the hopes that it would give him time to run. Instead, all it did was fly right past Zealot's head.

Zea jumped off in time to dodge the attack and Scratched the fire/bug.

This time, when Lillipup came in for the Tackle, Mudkip was ready. Though he still got hit by her, he managed to avoid the main force of the attack and retaliated with a Mud-Slap before Aldo could instruct him to do anything. Seeing Lillipup get thrown back by the attack, Aldo decided now was the best time to attempt to capture the Pokemonas he threw a Pokeball at it. Lillipup thought that the Pokeball was just a new addition to the game and waited to see what it would do. When she was brought in, she put up very little fight, hoping to have more fun with her new trainer.

Larvesta was quickly getting scared as the battle went on. This Torchic obviously wasn't about to just let him leave. Desperate, he decided the best course of action would be to try another Ember attack and hope to run away in the aftermath.
